Introduction: Nursing education has been undergoing transformations in due to the need to adapt to the market demands. Thus, within the academic context, it is necessary to observe the quality of training linked to the demands of the contemporary world. To assess this quality, the National Institute of Studies and Research uses instruments to outline the quality panorama of the courses through the evaluation of students, through the result of the National Student Performance Exam, in addition to using the educational indexes: administrative category, institutional nature, number of vacancies offered and course concept. Objective: To outline the current panorama of undergraduate nursing courses in the Northeast region, establishing a relation with the quality of teaching based on the evaluation of educational indices. Methodology: Document research, of a descriptive character and qualitative approach, using secondary data from the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira of the Ministry of Education, available in April 2020. The sample consists of 336 institutions that offer 406 undergraduate courses in nursing in the Northeast. The data were compiled in an Excel®️ spreadsheet and statistically analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: It was observed that the face-to-face modality stands out with 89% coverage in the region, but distance learning includes the largest number of places. Public education institutions stand out with the higher concepts of the course. The NSPE evaluation concept 2 was the one that most appeared in the evaluated courses. The state of Bahia has the largest amount of courses, with 24.5%, and Sergipe was the lowest index (5.4%), but it has an average of vacancies higher than the average in the region. Final considerations: The analysis of this study shows a deficit in the quality of undergraduate nursing courses in the Northeast. Further studies in the area of ​​Nursing Education are needed to analyze the monitoring of its quality.

Nursing continuously associates with the technical-manual component, while being liable for the care with health of persons and with retaining their quality of life. So, obtaining clinical abilities is an element involved in the learning program of nursing courses.

The Shophouse is a multi-story building that has multiple functions. The 1st floor is used as a commercial area, and the 2nd floor above is used as a residential place. Revitalization is an effort to revive an urban area through improving the quality of the environment, taking into accounts the socio- cultural aspects and characteristics of the region. The facade is the identity of the building itself by retaining elements and elements on the building façade. This research purposes of finding the dominant appearance of the elements of finding in the shophouse façade in the city of Medan, which is useful for the design revitalizing model of the face of the city as the image of the identity city. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, with a variable observation phase with the collection of primary and secondary data through direct observation in the field, then analyzed the shop facade elements that have been Grouped and found the most dominant element. The result of the analysis of the dominant facade element found in the shop façade of Medan is China, Malay, and India. The findings of the dominant facade element can be the identity identifier of the region and city of Medan today.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the limitations, strategies, importance and obstacles in mental health education in undergraduate nursing, focused on the role of nurses in Primary Health Care. Method: An exploratory descriptive study conducted with 103 professors in the mental health area of Bachelor/Postgraduate nursing courses from 89 public Higher Education Institutions in the five regions of Brazil. Results: Only 23.3% (24) of the professors teach mental health classes only in primary health care. Of the sample, the limitations to teaching in primary care education are few class hours (46.6%), faculty to expand teaching beyond specialty settings (38.8%), and prioritization of other scenarios (48.5%). When teaching, the strategies used are home visits (43.7%), educational actions (34.0%) and active search for mental health cases (29.1%). The professors consider them important to support mental health actions (58.3%); and the barriers are the lack of articulation between the Collective Health and Health disciplines to conduct teaching (87.5%). Conclusion: It is suggested that the institutions, courses and professors make the commitment and focus efforts to overcome the gaps, which hinder the nurse’s education process regarding primary knowledge in mental health, so that they can offer care to patients in psychological distress in the context of the community, as well as strengthen national mental health policy.

OBJECTIVE: This study analyzed the increase in the number of undergraduate nursing courses during the last two decades due to the expansion of higher education in Brazil. METHOD: A records-based research concerning the legal frameworks that have driven this movement and a quantitative research that described the increase in the number of professional nursing courses. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis (qualitative) and descriptive statistics (quantitative). RESULTS: the political-ideological argument present in the regulatory documents, which points out higher education as a possibility to change the current social scenario, has not been reflected in the professional nursing field. The expansion of nursing courses has been unfolding in a disorderly manner and is concentrated in the private sector, with geographical inequality in the distribution of these courses. CONCLUSION: There does not seem to be a concern with the local needs and with a connection among education, research and extension, which compromises the quality of the education provided to future nurses.

ABSTRACT Objective: to characterize the Brazilian Sign Language teaching in undergraduate nursing courses. Method: a cross-sectional study, carried out on the curriculum matrices of 553 higher education nursing courses. Data collection took place through access to the websites of the Ministry of Education and educational institutions. Results: the nursing courses that offered Libras were located predominantly in the Southeast (36%), coming from private institutions (87.2%). Most Libras courses (82%) were offered on a mandatory basis in the second half of the course (46.7%). The semester in which the offer was most frequent was the eighth (15.9%). There was an association (p <0.001) between the offer of course and the variable “public or private category”. Conclusions: there was a predominance of Libras course in private institutions, in the Southeast region, with a 40-hour workload, offered in the second half of the course.

The purpose of this article is to present a brief review on the need for changes in nurses' undergraduate education concerning alcohol and drugs. Specialized literature makes it clear that nurses have difficulties giving care to psychoactive substance users as part of their functions in the various health care sites. This may be associated with a deficiency in formal education. In the face of the social importance concerning these related questions in the scope of research, care, and education, we made an attempt at deepening the study on this theme, which could contribute to changes in practice, care, and undergraduate nursing education.

The Covid-19 virus became the beginning of a change in the face of the world, one of the sectors affected was the education sector. The government through the Ministry of Education and Culture gave a new policy in the form of distance learning. Students carry out learning from home but are still under the supervision of the teacher. Online communication is one of the keys to keep the educational program running well. Therefore, this becomes a new problem where teachers are required to provide interesting learning materials and in accordance with the characteristics of students. Currently, there are many online media platforms that can be used in learning, one of which is YouTube. YouTube is a social media or video sharing website where there are several categories in video groupings such as entertainment, sports, education, and so on. By utilizing this YouTube application as a learning medium, it can improve the quality of learning.

AbstractObjectiveTo assess the nursing curriculum and point out learning outcomes in Turkey.MethodsA cross-sectional design was used in this study. This study was conducted between May and June 2017 from 23 undergraduate nursing schools’ education programs for one education and academic year's curriculum. The public information of the universities collected from their web sites and learning outcomes of the schools were classified as cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.ResultsIt appears that half of the basic nursing courses are in the psychomotor domain, and the majority of basic medical sciences courses are in the cognitive domain. Learning outcomes about the affective domain mostly take place in basic nursing courses.ConclusionsThe findings of the results of this study can provide insight into current nursing education and guide new curricula to be developed.

From the perspective of Collective Health, this study aimed to analyze how the teaching of health education in undergraduate Nursing courses is processed contemporarily. The Educational Institutions were selected so as to represent the public and private sectors. The subjects, teachers responsible for developing the theme, were identified from the indications of the Coordinators of the Courses. An exploratory, descriptive, analytical, study with a qualitative approach was developed, which utilized documental analysis and a semi-structured interview based on a script, the analysis of which followed the steps of content analysis and identification of thematic nuclei. The results showed that the teaching developed remains largely linked with the biomedical preventive model and that the concepts of critical education and ‘popular’ educational practices are scarce, due to the deficient political education of the teachers, and more broadly, as a consequence of coping with an academic context of the implementation of the neoliberal ideas.

The aim of this study is to examine the current profile of bioethics education in the nursing curriculum as perceived by nursing students and faculty in Korea. A convenience sampling method was used for recruiting 1223 undergraduate nursing students and 140 nursing faculty in Korea. Experience of Bioethics Education, Quality of Bioethics Education, and Demand for Bioethics Education Scales were developed. The Experience of Bioethics Education Scale showed that the nursing curriculum in Korea does not provide adequate bioethics education. The Quality of Bioethics Education Scale revealed that the topics of human nature and human rights were relatively well taught compared to other topics. The Demand for Bioethics Education Scale determined that the majority of the participants believed that bioethics education should be a major requirement in the nursing curriculum. The findings of this study suggest that bioethics should be systemically incorporated into nursing courses, clinical practice during the program, and during continuing education.
