This study aims to determine the level of technical efficiency of paddy and maize farming in Gorontalo Province in 2019. The data used comes from the 2019 Ubinan Survey conducted by BPS Gorontalo Province. The total samples studied were 833 farming units, consisting of 392 paddy farming units and 441 maize farming units. The analysis method used is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results showed that most of the paddy and maize farming in Gorontalo Province in 2019 had not yet reached the full level of technical efficiency. The average level of technical efficiency in paddy farming was 68.7 percent, while the average level of efficiency in maize farming was only 56.7 percent.

This dissertation adopts Data Envelopment Analysis method, in accordance with principles of comprehensiveness, concise, relevance and relativity as well as decision package requirements on quality and quantity, it selects four input indexes as woodland area, stuff, technical stuff proportion and fund; two output indexes as live stumpage and output value of state-owned forest farm, and takes use of DEAP2.1 software based on input-oriented BCC model to make an efficiency evaluation of 11 state-owned forest farms which participate in forest tenure reform and 19 which does not. The result shows no matter it's technical efficiency, scale efficiency or pure technical efficiency, forest farms which carries out reform are more efficient that those which does not.

Abstract The major aim of this paper is to assess technical efficiency of private medical entities. Technical efficiency refers to the capacity of a medical entity to obtain the maximum output for a particular set of inputs. The article presents results of research study on technical efficiency of 33 medical entities using the Data Envelopment Analysis method (DEA) which allows the use of multiple inputs/outputs without imposing any functional form on data or making assumptions of inefficiency. The research study was carried out in years 2011–2016 on medical entities from Podkarpackie voivodship. The analysis was conducted based on the CCR input-oriented model.

The nature of input-output relationships in general and ratio data in particular has important consequences for practitioners when the data envelopment analysis method is used to  measure technical efficiency of decision making units or production units. Since the data envelopment analysis approach was introduced several studies tried to develop the model from different aspects including when the model deals with ratio data. To date, none of these studies was able to address the aforementioned problem properly and as a result most of them suffered from a lack of clarity in the presence of input-and-output ratios. This study proposes a slacks-based measure of efficiency in the presence of ratio variable. Our approach deals directly with the input excess and the output shortfalls of the decision making units’ concerns, and as a result, improved measuring efficiency scores.

Changes in Germany legislation since 2009 significantly limited the operation of German pharmacies. Since then, there has been a steady decline in the total number of pharmacies. This article deals with the efficiency change within the German retail and wholesale pharmaceutical sectors in the years 2009 to 2016. The efficiency calculation was based on the nonparametric data envelopment analysis method and the Malmquist index was used to evaluate changes. Two components of Malmquist index were also monitored separately, capturing changes in the area of technical efficiency and changes in the area of the production possibility set. The results point to the increasing efficiency which means that decreasing number of pharmacies is caused by concentration tendencies rather than by negative effects of government decisions.

An efficiency evaluation is one of the most significant tools of transportation performance assessment and is of particular importance to decision making units to consider efficiency issues. The experience of Turkey can be used to compare and improve the efficiency of rail performance. The study employs both of radial and non-radial of data envelopment analysis method, where efficiency scores and technical efficiency of rail performance were ranked and compared over period 1977–2017. The study was fulfilled that Turkey rail is more capable in terms of exploiting its transport indicators into useful outputs. The outcomes indicated that the rail performance was operating most effectively, and the most efficient years were 1977, 1978, 1979, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1993, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017, whereas it exhibited relative inefficiency throughout 2001–2002, in which the efficiency scores decreased in relation to other years.

In the era of knowledge economy, a country’s economic competitiveness depends largely on the development level of high-tech industry. This paper evaluates the efficiency of China’s high-tech industry in 31 provinces in 2012 with data envelopment analysis. The empirical results are summarized as following. Firstly, when the effects of exogenous environmental variables are not controlled, the comprehensive technical efficiency of 31 provinces will be overestimated, the pure technical efficiency will be underestimated, and the scale efficiency value will be overestimated. Secondly, after eliminating the environmental impact, the comprehensive technical efficiency of 31 provinces with the average of 0.395 is rather low, due to the low scale efficiency.

In this article, we used bootstrap data envelopment analysis techniques to examine technical and scale efficiency scores for a balanced panel of 564 farms in Kansas for the period 1993–2007. The production technology is estimated under three different assumptions of returns to scale and the results are compared. Technical and scale efficiency is disaggregated by farm size and specialization. Our results suggest that farms are both scale and technically inefficient. On average, technical efficiency has deteriorated over the sample period. Technical efficiency varies directly by farm size and the differences are significant. Differences across farm specializations are not significant.
