In this study, I have collected and summarized the functional aspects of a literary prize, contest, and rating, which indicate their affiliation with the marketing complex of the publishing house for the first time. For this purpose, I have analyzed and summarized the common concepts of the functioning of literary prizes and contests as advertising tools for publishing activity. Because the previous studies are only focused on the fact of the impact of the prize on the promotion of editions but do not explain it, these aspects have been considered and introduced by me from the book production’s point of view. I investigated that the prizes and the contests in the literary field are effective marketing tools, which meet many publisher’s needs at the same time and can be considered a non-profit form of capital. I have reviewed the works of other authors, who accept that the economic success of the book is rising if the author is a winner of the literary prize or contest. I have found out that the book prize activates the demand for the book, and the literary contest is a tool to track the reader’s reaction to a future publication. In this way, literary prizes and contests can be considered as a way of conducting a marketing dialogue with the target audience. I have focused on the information support of literary national and international prizes and contests by the media, which attracts attention to the book and forms the reader’s interest. The literary prizes and contests are also considered as a way of exploring trends and their changes, familiarization the popular genres among the target audience and fixation the current choice of modern readers. Literary prizes and contests motivate the authors to improve their literary excellence, are the source of new authors and works, and assist in increasing sales of books. However, further research is recommended.
Key words: book prize, book rating, literary contest, literary prize, functions of the literary prizes.

Purpose Opera houses have been traditionally publicly financed in many western countries. However, today many opera houses are facing serious financial troubles, due to the recent financial crisis. There is thus a widespread public debate on measures to ensure agency efficiency for performing arts organizations. Focusing on the reform implemented recently in Italy, which submitted opera houses that had severe financial difficulties to a recovery plan and encouraged forms of collaborative governance (CG), the purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of CG on the performance of the arts sector. Design/methodology/approach Multiple case studies are used, on longitudinal data from multiple sources over a period of up to five years, in order to triangulate the narrative of financial and artistic performance and ensure trustworthiness. The study thus spans the period before the Bray Law came into force (2013) and covers the entire period in which recovery plans were implemented. Findings The analysis explores how opera houses are building sustainability for themselves and the community in terms of financial and artistic performance through CG. Various forms of CG adopted yielded positive results. Furthermore, more robust forms of CG generated better performance, especially from a financial point of view. Originality/value This paper adds to the limited knowledge of CG in the non-profit sector by bridging the fields of agency performance and CG. It discusses how the introduction of forms of CG can build up long-term sustainability, solving the dilemma of how to achieve financial equilibrium without compromising artistic quality, focusing on the case of opera houses, which are notably affected by Baumol’s cost disease.

Introduction. The peculiarities of the functioning of non-profit organizations in Ukraine are identified. The accounting and information support of the analysis of the activity of public sector entities is considered. It is established that the reformation of accounting of public sector entities related to the introduction of the NP (C) BODS from January 1, 2017 requires a comprehensive analysis of the activities of budgetary institutions. It is noted that the analysis of the activity of a budgetary institution will provide full information about the real economic situation of the organization, reveal unused agricultural reserves for further development and ensure more efficient use of targeted state allocations. The object of research is the Main Department of Statistics in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The priori analysis of dynamic changes in cash inflows by type of income is carried out. It is proven that the use of only absolute indicators to estimate the dynamics of revenues is inappropriate. It is noted that the increase in the dynamics of cash inflows to a budgetary institution can testify only to the impact of inflationary processes. It is proposed to analyse the results of the organization's activities in a phased manner: analysis of dynamics and structure; analysis of the actual expenditures of the organization; assessment of the financial performance and determination of the size of the deficit or cash surplus. The algorithm of the complex analysis of the receipts of funds, incomes and expenditures of the budgetary institution is developed. It is established that the analysis of incomes and expenditures and financial results of a budget institution's activity is a necessary component of effective management of a public sector entity. Purpose. The article aims to evaluate the accounting and information support of the analysis of the activities of the public sector entities and to develop the stages of the analysis of the activity of the budget institution of the Main Department of Statistics in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Method (methodology). Method of system analysis, methods of causal analysis, table and graphical methods, dynamic series have been used in this research. Results. The theoretical synthesis and practical recommendations on the methodological aspects of the activities of non-profit organizations through the analysis of dynamics and the structure of cash flow; actual expenses of the organization; assessment of financial performance and determination of the size of the deficit or cash surplus have become the result of the research.

Introduction. The rapid revitalization of integration processes worldwide, the strengthening of international economic cooperation, the intensification of export-import operations increase the impact of the customs system on the state of the national economy. Therefore, there is an urgent need to use effective mechanisms of blocking and elimination of factors that undermine the customs of customs in order to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of the customs system and improve the level of customs security of the state. Purpose is assessing Ukraine’s customs security indicators and identification of sources of customs danger, clarification of the role and assessment of fiscal efficiency of customs authorities in ensuring the customs security of the state, development of recommendations on elimination of the main customs threats in the context of minimization of customs risks in the context of conflict of interests of individual participants of foreign economic relations. Results. The essence of the customs security of the state is revealed, the sources and threats to the customs security are identified. The importance of the indicators of the customs security of Ukraine through the prism of the customs load on the economy of the country and the efficiency of the activity of the customs authorities during 2009–2018 are analyzed. At the same time, it should be noted that the dependence of the state budget on 2/5 of the amount of customs payments is a separate risk from the point of view of the financial security of the state. It is established that the system of customs control, first of all, is characterized by qualitative output parameters, which for the most part are outside the direct jurisdiction of the customs authorities, but which directly affect the effectiveness of the customs administration in practice. The subjective factors influencing the efficiency of the customs administration are the level of information and technical support and the procedure for the organization of customs control procedures, time spent on customs clearance of goods, the establishment of communication relations between the customs relations, the level of qualification of employees and the knowledge and observance of all participants of the FEA and customs clearance procedures. It is confirmed that the main criteria for assessing the customs security of the state should be the completeness of payment of customs duties and the frequency of detection of cases of customs offenses. VAT reimbursement for bogus exports. The customs security of the state is closely related to the customs security of the subjects of foreign economic activity when crossing the goods across the customs border and is determined by the level of well-established interaction of all subjects of customs relations. Conclusion. Proposals for implementation of priority measures in the system of improving the customs security of Ukraine are substantiated and they include coordination of actions of all state bodies on the implementation of customs control in order to eliminate the corruption component during the passage of customs and border clearance, modernization of information support and communication between employees of the customs authorities and entities activities

Vocal music was at the heart of English Renaissance poetry and drama. Virtuosic actor-singers redefined the theatrical culture of William Shakespeare and his peers. Composers including William Byrd and Henry Lawes shaped the transmission of Renaissance lyric verse. Poets from Philip Sidney to John Milton were fascinated by the disorienting influx of musical performance into their works. Musical performance was a driving force behind the period’s theatrical and poetic movements, yet its importance to literary history has long been ignored or effaced. Unwritten Poetry reveals the impact of vocalists and composers upon the poetic culture of early modern England by studying the media through which—and by whom—its songs were made. In a literary field that was never confined to writing, media were not limited to material texts. Scott Trudell argues that the media of Renaissance poetry can be conceived as any node of transmission from singer’s larynx to actor’s body. Through his study of song, Trudell outlines a new approach to the Renaissance poetry and drama that is grounded not simply in performance history or book history but in a more synthetic media history.

In this study, based on some striking examples, migration, which is one of the biggest problems of the modern age, and the relationship of crime in expanding cities have been investigated and the impact of immigration on crime, the legal regulations in this context and the media reflections of migration and crime relations, and the legal regulations in the expanding cities via migration have been evaluated. Increasing tension, conflicts, wars, hunger, poverty, economic imbalance, oppression, inequality and unrest based on religion, sects, and culture in the world have increased migration and caused many more problems. The borders that states have determined regarding their sovereign rights over their countries have brought along problems related to the issue of immigration, although they exist throughout history. The severe violations of human rights caused by the torture and deaths experienced during the Second World War caused population mobility all over the world and as a result, the issue of migration has become an important agenda item in our recent history. While international organizations and states try to solve the problems arising from immigration with legal regulations, they cannot keep up with the pace of the problems caused by migration and the increase in crime rates. In this context, the problems faced by immigrants who take their cultural luggage with them to the destination country, especially xenophobia, make the lives of immigrants difficult and at the same time position them in the world of others. From this point of view, cities that grow with migration reach a cosmopolitan structure, if not metropolitan, and transform into places of necessary living, dissatisfaction and chaos. Unemployment, incompatibility, unrest, conflict and problems are experienced to a great extent in overgrown cities. Legal regulations have been insufficient.

Objectives: The Internet and social media are revolutionizing how social support is exchanged and perceived, making online health communities (OHCs) one of the most exciting research areas in health informatics. This paper aims to provide a framework for organizing research of OHCs and help identify questions to explore for future informatics research. Based on the framework, we conceptualize OHCs from a social support standpoint and identify variables of interest in characterizing community members. For the sake of this tutorial, we focus our review on online cancer communities. Target audience: The primary target audience is informaticists interested in understanding ways to characterize OHCs, their members, and the impact of participation, and in creating tools to facilitate outcome research of OHCs. OHC designers and moderators are also among the target audience for this tutorial. Scope: The tutorial provides an informatics point of view of online cancer communities, with social support as their leading element. We conceptualize OHCs according to 3 major variables: type of support, source of support, and setting in which the support is exchanged. We summarize current research and synthesize the findings for 2 primary research questions on online cancer communities: (1) the impact of using online social support on an individual's health, and (2) the characteristics of the community, its members, and their interactions. We discuss ways in which future research in informatics in social support and OHCs can ultimately benefit patients.

The article considers the impact of CH. Perelman’s new rhetorical theory on post-truth phenomenon. Although the term “post-truth” appeared in the 1990s the peak of its popularity is the 2016–2020s. In 2016 the Oxford dictionary ranked it as the most used word in the media. The reason for this popularity according the most researchers is related to the spread and functioning of social networks where objective facts are less important in comparison with emotions and personal beliefs. The last five years are characterized by an increasing number of works in which the phenomenon of post-truth is investigated in the aspects of political science, social sociology, psychology, ethics. However, over the years not a single publication has appeared that treats post-truth as rhetorical phenomenon. The author of the article tries to fill this gap and highlight the main characteristic of post-truth rhetoric. Such features include a biased selection of facts and the way they are placed in media text, rigid scheme which includes four elements: a media person, criminal plot, step by step development of narrative and non-finished final. In the first of the scheme the media person can act as an organizer of an actual or imaginary event or as on object of extremal influence (a victim). The criminal nature of the plot is associated with a violation of the normal course of things. Moreover, such a violation should not be a one-time act but should assume development through the accumulation of new details. Also, to become a post-truth the event must contain the development potential associated with collision of opposite version explaining its meaning. In a situation of post-truth the role of the speaker in relation to audience changes. The speaker seeks not so much to join those who disagree with his point of view as to strengthen the split of the recipients who oppose each other. Thus, the post-truth as a method of information warfare and / or mastering the mass consciousness has become possible thanks to radical change in the media space excluding control over it. At the same time, its hidden premises appeal to the new rhetorical theory of Ch. Perelman.

Public relations strategies based on dramatization are key tools to achieving success in electoral campaigns. Press offices play a fundamental role as theatre directors, turning their leaders into great actors. What at first glance would look like a theatrical performance is, more than ever, what happened in the US presidential elections. Newspapers are intensifying the use of visual elements to reinforce the news. This research paper analyses 2,463 articles from eight digital newspapers in four countries to learn about the impact of visuals and dramatization on the European press. It seems paradoxical that the progressive newspapers devoted more articles to Trump than the conservative newspapers. A lack of time on the part of the journalists? What is certain is that the visuals prepared by Trump’s press office and his perfectly designed public appearances, were reproduced by the media. The study shows that the progressive newspapers analysed have contributed to giving Trump greater visibility in Europe.
