The deadly and infectious disease Corona Virus also known as Covid19, has deeply shaken the global economy. This tragedy has also affected the education sector, and this fear is likely to reverberate across the education sector universally. Various schools, colleges, and universities have discontinued in-person teaching. According to the assessment of the researchers, it is uncertain to get back to normal teaching anytime soon. Hence, social distancing is dominant at this stage, a fact that will have negative outcomes on learning opportunities. As it is stated by Stanley (2019:8), Educational units are struggling to find options to deal with this challenging situation. These circumstances make us realize that scenario planning is an urgent need for academic institutions. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to shed light on the challenges of remote teaching during the Covid19 pandemic on teachers at the university level and to try to figure out the possible resolutions and recommendations to develop distance teaching. A questionnaire has been designed as the major data collection instrument to carry out the investigation. The respondents are university professors affiliated with public and private universities in Morocco. Concerning the findings of the study, the respondents believe that remote teaching is extremely challenging due to a variety of factors and it is not effective at all.

Faculty at the special education department of the University held mixed concerns about e-learning opportunities for Students with Disabilities (SWD) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research investigated their attitude using a questionnaire survey. The sample was 70 faculty members who specialized in tutoring students with disabilities. The Pearson regression (0.655) established the reliability of the data collection instrument. The results showed that faculty members held a positive attitude toward the application of e-learning technologies for SWD and supported its ability to allow for cognitive, social, and education interaction during the pandemic. While faculty agreed the method was no more time-consuming than regular classroom sessions, they were reluctant to invest the time in training. The research concluded the views of department members in the design of appropriate systems/curricula would help to eliminate barriers and encourage more support for e-learning of SWDs during the pandemic. The faculty had several recommendations for the successful application of online learning during the pandemic for special needs students. Most suggested the need for adequate educational resources within the departments, and appropriate software and hardware to enable teaching appropriate skills to the learners with disabilities. There was a further recommendation that e-learning should be incorporated into the curricular programs.

Purpose of the study: The present study surveys the reactions of university-level faculty members in Jordan towards their experience with COVID-19's emergency online learning model. It primarily investigates the advantages of switching to online learning, challenges faced, and suggestions for improving the teaching-learning process. Methodology: The study is based on empirical data compiled from the responses of 432 instructors in six Jordanian public and private universities. The data collection instrument consists of a structured open-ended questionnaire, which comprises three constructs: challenges, advantages, and suggestions for improvement. Similar responses were combined in thematic categories and were calculated to obtain frequencies and percentages. Main Findings: Concerning the advantages, e-learning enabled instructors to use new effective teaching tools and acquire new skills. The challenges were mainly related to technology and the Internet, assessment, interaction, and lack of clear vision and regulations by policymakers. Instructors suggested providing better technical support; blending online with traditional learning; offering more training, and improving the assessment tools and designing new ones. Applications of this study: This study is useful for educational leaders and policymakers providing guidance and insights on how higher education institutions have responded to this global health emergency, and how they managed to meet the evolving needs of students and staff. Consequently, the higher education sector should be prepared to operate more efficiently and effectively for any future emergencies. Novelty/Originality of this study: While different studies have investigated the impact of COVID-19 on the education sector globally, little attention has been given to developing countries in the Middle East. To this end, the present study focuses on how COVID-19 has been effective in reshaping and revolutionizing the higher education paradigm in Jordan through highlighting the advantages, challenges, and subsequent suggestions for improvement.

AbstractAlthough the education sector is improving more quickly than ever with the help of advancing technologies, there are still many areas yet to be discovered, and there will always be room for further enhancements. Two of the most disruptive technologies, machine learning (ML) and blockchain, have helped replace conventional approaches used in the education sector with highly technical and effective methods. In this study, a system is proposed that combines these two radiant technologies and helps resolve problems such as forgeries of educational records and fake degrees. The idea here is that if these technologies can be merged and a system can be developed that uses blockchain to store student data and ML to accurately predict the future job roles for students after graduation, the problems of further counterfeiting and insecurity in the student achievements can be avoided. Further, ML models will be used to train and predict valid data. This system will provide the university with an official decentralized database of student records who have graduated from there. In addition, this system provides employers with a platform where the educational records of the employees can be verified. Students can share their educational information in their e-portfolios on platforms such as LinkedIn, which is a platform for managing professional profiles. This allows students, companies, and other industries to find approval for student data more easily.

Over the last 25 years, Asia’s economic rise has been extraordinary. Its share of global gross domestic product (GDP) has risen from 5.8% to 22.9%. 1 The first phase of high economic growth — up to 1995 — saw Asia enter the global supply chain primarily with labor-intensive/low-cost manufacturing. Domestic consumption was a fairly low share of GDP; Asia was manufacturing mainly for consumption in the US and Europe. As such, it was primarily a rule-taker. In the second phase — from 1995 to 2020 — it gradually turned into an economic force joining the US and Europe in shaping the global economy, exercising significant influence upon the value chain, the cycles of the global economy, transport and logistics, the global capital markets and consumption patterns (consumer preferences and tastes). While not yet among the leading rule-makers, it had become difficult for policymakers (public and private) to make decisions without Asia’s consent. To form an opinion of today’s emerging third phase — post 2020 — the intriguing question is whether the Asian countries have adopted what may be termed Anglo-American economic thinking (basically, the primacy of the market). Or whether behind the curtain, the Asian economy works in its own way diverging from the American and British economic schools. Since demographics and sheer economic scale mean that Asia will dominate the global economy in the years to come, the nature of the Asian economy will be of crucial importance for the future global economy. The conclusion of this paper is that “Asia” in many respects differs — and fundamentally so — from market economy principles. How this prospect should be interpreted is also evolving, as circumstances change. Certainly, the repercussions of COVID-19 have not been the same in the US, Europe, East Asia and South Asia — and this may suggest that socio-political structures have a stronger impact on economic outcomes than economic theory teaches, thus calling into question the global validity of market economy principles.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the websites of university libraries to ascertain that libraries are effectively utilizing their respective websites to provide easy access to all electronic resources available in the library. The objective was also to a represent a comparative analysis between public and private university library websites regarding the presence of electronic resources with their easy access via the internet. For the purpose of this study, a research instrument in the form of comprehensive checklist of eighteen e-resources was developed to evaluate their accessibility in the websites of public and private university libraries. Twenty university library websites, comprised of ten top-ranked public and ten top-ranked private universities in Bangladesh, were studied for data collection using content analysis method. The findings demonstrate that the presence of e-resources on selected university library websites is still in its early stage, but it has been growing rapidly. The private university library websites are ahead of public university libraries in terms of the integration of web-resources. It is hoped that the findings of this paper will serve to assist the University librarians and other similar institutions in choosing, selecting and acquiring the most appropriate format of information resources, and making these available to their websites, which will both satisfy the needs of their library users and fit within their library budget.

This Report was prepared under the auspices of the MESA Committee on Pre-Collegiate Education, Michael W. Suleiman, Chairperson; Barbro M. Ek, Marvin Fricklas, Mounir Farah, Glenn Perry, Juanita Will Soghikian and Don Peretz, Members.There are presently twelve regional centers for the study of the Middle East receiving operational grants from the Office of Education under its language and area centers program. These grants range In amounts from $50,000 to $114,000 per year with the average falling somewhere around $92,000 yearly. Although there is a yearly competition, most centers receive funding for a minimum of three years. Of the presently funded centers, two (University of Arizona and Portland State) are funded as undergraduate programs, with the remainder serving the graduate sector as well. Government guidelines stipulate that 15% of the total grant must be spent in the area of “outreach” services to agencies, organizations and individuals outside the university interested in the resources of the center. Funding criteria for fiscal 1976 published in the Federal Register (Vol. 41, No. 20, Feb. 9, 1976) further specifies that “Centers shall provide such “outreach activities” in two or more of the following areas, at least one of which shall be either (1) or (2) below:(1) Assistance to other institutions of higher education including public and private four-year colleges, particularly those with teacher education programs, and two year colleges (such as sharing of library resources, faculty workshops, and cross-registration of students); (2) assistance to state and local elementary and secondary educational agencies (such as in-service teacher training, bibliographic assistance, textbook evaluation, curriculum development, and direct instructional services; (3) assistance to the business community (such as workshops and special courses) and (4) sharing of resources (such as general lectures, films and book and art exhibits) with the community at large.”

<p>This study seeks to shed light on the phenomenon of job burnout, and its prevalence amongst the staff and seeks to address the issue of the level of job satisfaction in Jordanian universities, together with the examination of the effect of job burnout on job satisfaction. The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach through a comparative study between public universities and private universities, and used the questionnaire as basic tool for data collection, which was distributed to a sample of (200) members of the administrative staff in Jordanian public and private universities. The study found that the degree of job burnout experienced by the administrative staff in the university sector was more than average, Showed that low personal performance dimension has ranked the first as the most persistent job burnout dimension then physical and emotional exhaustion then negative attitude towards relationships. It observed that the degree of job burnout in public universities was greater than in the private universities. The level of staff job satisfaction in the public universities was less than that observed in private universities. The study showed that no dimension of job morally affects on employees satisfaction in public universities. while only one dimension (low personal achievement) affects employees satisfaction in private universities.</p>

The aim of this study is to analyze the requirements for effective performance of employees in higher educational institutions of Mongolia. This paper proposed the use of organizational OCTAPACE /Openness, Confrontation, Trust, Authenticity, Pro-active, Autonomy, Collaboration; Experimentation/culture and workplace structure models evaluate job satisfaction and commitment of academic staff. An organizational OCTAPACE culture model is a fairly new concept and experience in Mongolia. This model has been studied and is wellknown in India, Malaysia and western countries. In Mongolia the subject of study has been developed at a low level. This study proposed that an employee' job satisfaction and commitment influence the effective performance of the overall educational institution. Data analysis results indicated that OCTAPACE culture influences job satisfaction and commitment, workplace structure (support, supervisor support) as well as significantly influencing on the job satisfaction and commitment. Based on the collected data, job satisfaction and organizational commitment significantly influence job performance. Mongolia has 17 public and 94 private universities (Mongolian ministry of education, culture and science website). In terms of participants in this study, a theoretical and empirical survey conducted in 160 Mongolian public and in 143 private universities including university professors. Data was estimated by SPSS 21 and Smart PLS 2.0 statistic programs.
