Electronic gadgets, psychological behavior and quality of sleep among adolescent Background: In the development stage, adolescents are faced with problems of health problems including poor sleep quality. Globally, the prevalence of sleep quality disorders in the world varies from 15.3% to 39.2%. Data in Indonesia shows that most of the quality of sleep in adolescents is less than 63%. Poor quality of sleep can harm health. Factors that can cause poor sleep quality include the use of gadgets, where 80% say using gadgets> 4 hours 17 minutes a day.Purpose: Known the electronic gadgets, psychological behavior and quality of sleep among adolescent.Methods: The type of research used in this study was quantitative. The design of this study used analytics. The research subjects were class X and XI students at SMKN 1 Terbanggi Besar, Central Lampung, totaling 119 people. Collect data with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire and Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS). The statistical test uses the chi-square test.Results: Univariate analysis was obtained by the majority of respondents who had bad behavior in using gadgets, as many as 68 people (57.1%) and most respondents had poor sleep quality, as many as 77 people (64.7%). Analysis data resulted p-value = 0,000 and OR = 4,696.Conclusion: There were the electronic gadgets, psychological behavior and quality of sleep among adolescent. The advice is to increase health promotion counseling about sleep patterns and the excessive use of gadgets, and for schools to set regulations on the ban on the use of gadgets in-class hours. Keywords  : Quality of Sleep, Gadgets, Adolescent; Psychological; BehaviorPendahuluan: Dalam tahap perkembangannya, remaja dihadapkan pada masalah-masalah kesehatan diantaranya kualitas tidur yang buruk. Secara global menunjukkkan prevalensi gangguan kualitas tidur di dunia bervariasi mulai 15,3% - 39,2%. Data di Indonesia menunjukan sebagian besar kualitas tidur pada remaja kurang terpenuhi yaitu sebanyak 63%. Buruknya kualitas tidur dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi kesehatan. Faktor yang dapat menyebabkan kualitas tidur yang buruk diantaranya adalah penggunaan gadget, dimana 80% menyatakan meggunakan gadget > 4 jam 17 menit dalam sehari.Tujuan: Diketahui hubungan perilaku penggunaan gadget dengan kualitas tidur pada remaja.Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan rancangan menggunakan analitik. Subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas X dan XI di SMKN 1 Terbanggi Besar Lampung Tengah, yang berjumlah 119 responden. Cara pengambilan data dengan kuesioner Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Indeks (PSQI) dan Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS). Uji stastistik menggunakan uji chi-square.Hasil: Sebagian besar responden memiliki perilaku penggunaan gadget yang tidak baik, yaitu sebanyak 68 orang (57,1%) dan sebagian besar responden memiliki kualitas tidur yang buruk, yaitu sebanyak 77 orang (64,7%). Hasil uji statistik diperoleh p-value = 0,000 dan OR= 4,696.Simpulan: Ada hubungan perilaku penggunaan gadget dengan kualitas tidur pada remaja. Perlu lebih ditingkatkannya promosi kesehatan konseling tentang pola tidur dan dampak penggunaan gadget secara berlebihan, serta bagi pihak sekolah dapat menetapkan peraturan tentang larangan penggunaan gadget di jam pelajaran.

Objectives: The aim is to determine an association between obesity levels, quality of sleep, and anxiety among the Saudi population. Methods: A cross-sectional study was used by distributing an online questionnaire via social media channels to the Saudi population. We used the body mass index (BMI) to assess body fat, the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder – 7 (GAD-7). Chi-square tests and logistic regression were used to test associations with a p-value of less than 0.05. Results: We received a total of 1123 respondents and the majority (61%) were obese and overweight. According to the GAD-7 score, 17% had severe anxiety; the PSQI score was 8.42 +3.45, indicating overall poor sleep quality. Underweight respondents had higher moderate (25%) and severe (26%) anxiety as compared to those with normal or higher BMI (14%-18%) (p=0.002). PSQI scores were higher for obese (8.9+3.6) and overweight (8.6+3.4) respondents as compared to underweight (7.5+3.0) (p=0.001). Persons with severe (10.4+3.6) or moderate (9.7+3.7) anxiety had higher PSQI scores as compared to those with minimal anxiety (6.8+2.7) (p<0.001). Conclusion: There is a relationship between obesity, sleep, and anxiety. Overweight and obesity were significantly associated with anxiety and poor sleep quality in Saudi Arabia.

Kualita stidur adalah suatu keadaan tidur yang dijalani seseorang yang menghasilkan kesegaran/ kebugaran saat terbangun. Dampak karena kualitas tidur yang buruk adalah stres yang meningkat dan sering lupa. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan 86,4% lansia mengalami kualitas tidur yang buruk dan 13,6% memiliki kualitas tidur yang baik di Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha pada tahun 2018. Salah satu penatalaksanaan untuk meningkatkan kualitas tidur adalah dengan melafalkan dzikir. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh melafalkan dzikir terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di Balai Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi experiment. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive samplingdenganjumlah 21 responden yang sesuaidengankriteriainkulsidanekslusi. Intervensi dilakukan selama 7 hari berturut-turut. Evaluasi skor kualitas tidur menggunakan kuesioner Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Analisa bivariate denga nmenggunakan uji paired t test. Hasil penelitian rerata kualitas tidur pada pengukuran pretest lebih tinggi (7,00) dibandingkan dengan rerata postest (5,90), yang memiliki arti bahwa kualitas tidur lansia setelah melakukan dzikir menjadi lebih baik.Hasil dari analisis ujipaired t testpengaruh melafalkan dzikir terhadap kualitas tidur lansia didapatkan nilai signifikan dengan p-value = 0,000 (α<0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya pengaruh antara dzikir dengan kualitas tidur. Kata kunci: melafalkan dzikir, kualitas tidur, lansia THE EFFECT OF RECITING DHIKR ON THE QUALITY OF ELDERLY SLEEP ABSTRACTSleep quality is a state of sleep by someone who produces freshness or fitness when awakened. Poor sleep quality will have an impact on the body of the elderly. Impact because of poor sleep quality is increased stress and often forgets. The results of the research conducted showed that 86.4% of the elderly experienced poor sleep quality and 13.6% had good sleep quality at the TresnaWerdha Social Service Center on 2018. One of the management to improve the quality of sleep is to recite dzikir. The purpose of the study was to identify the effect of reciting dhikr on the quality of elderly sleep in the Tresna Werdha Social Service Center.This research method uses a quasi experiment design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 21 respondents who were in accordance with the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The intervention was carried out for 7 consecutive days. Sleep quality score evaluation using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Bivariate analysis using paired t test. The results of the average sleep quality at pretest measurements were higher (7.00) compared to the posttest average (5.90), which means that the quality of elderly sleep after doing dhikr is better. The results of the paired t test analysis of the effect of reciting dhikr on the quality of elderly sleep obtained a significant value with p-value = 0,000 (α <0.05). The conclusion of this study shows the influence between dhikr and the quality of sleep. Keywords: reciting dhikr, sleep quality, elderly

AimsThe main objective was to determine whether quality of sleep is associated with burnout among undergraduate medical students at the University of Nairobi.The null hypothesis in our study population was; 'There is no significant association between poor sleep quality and burnout'.BackgroundIn a pressure prevailing environment, medical students find themselves in a vicious cycle of cutting down on sleep in attempts to cope and adjust to increasing workloads. Students with poor sleep quality have been found to perform worse in their board exam and have strained social engagements. Ultimately, this chronic sleep deprivation may lead to burnout which may cause diminished sense of accomplishment and impaired professional conduct, that may be carried on to the career as a physician. High levels of burnout have been associated with suicides.MethodThe sample size obtained was 384 and participants were selected by a mixed sampling method. Data collection was through self-administered questionnaires. Scales used for this study were the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory(OLBI).Ethical considerations were adhered to and approval obtained from the Kenyatta National Hospital-University of Nairobi(KNH-UON) Ethics Board. Data entry and analysis was by SPSS v23. Data from 336 questionnaires were deemed fit for analysis.ResultWith a response rate of 87.5%, the prevalence of poor sleep quality and burnout were 69.9% and 74.7% respectively. There was a significant positive association between poor sleep quality and female gender, clinical years of study, living with family, poorly perceived socio-economic state and poor subjective academic performance. In addition, being female, younger, pre-clinical years, living independently off-campus and poor subjective academic performance were significantly associated with higher levels of burnout.Burnout had a significant correlation with poor sleep quality. Daytime functioning, a component of sleep quality had the highest correlation with components of burnout, disengagement and exhaustion. Overall, 57% of the respondents had both poor sleep quality &burnout, while only 12% were good sleepers with no burnout. Furthermore, having poor sleep increased the risk of having burnout by 2.8times. It is crucial that students adopt better sleeping habits to reduce the risk of burnout.ConclusionWith the high prevalence of poor sleep quality and burnout, peer-support groups and peer-led mentorship programs are recommended within this population to help deal with expectations, challenges and difficulties encountered within the course of medical education, in addition to preparing for the early future careers.

AbstractBackgroundMid-adolescents dominate the number of gadget users in Indonesia. The use of gadgets to a high intensity can cause various problems such as poor sleep quality and decreased social interaction. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the intensity of the use of gadgets and the quality of sleep and social interaction in adolescents.MethodThe research design used was a correlational research study with a cross-sectional approach. Through the calculation of the sample, the respondents were 250 adolescents who met the inclusion criteria, namely (1) adolescents aged 15–18 years and (2) teens who owned and used gadgets. The sampling method used simple random sampling by conducting a lottery system in each class. The independent variable was the intensity of using the gadget, while the dependent variable was the quality of sleep and social interaction. Data collection focused on the intensity of gadget use using questionnaires and it was analyzed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale (SIAS). The data was analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation with α = 0.05.ResultsThe results showed that the intensity of gadget use was positively related to poor sleep quality in adolescents (p = <0.001; r = 0.555). The intensity of the use of gadgets was also related to social interaction with a negative direction. The higher the intensity of the use of gadgets, the lower the social interaction in adolescents (p = 0.001; r = –293).ConclusionThe use of gadgets in the mid-adolescent years is related to sleep disorders as regards the latency and duration of sleep. Adolescents are more likely to engage in social interaction and communication through gadgets than face to face.

OBJECTIVEAnalyzing the quality of sleep of hypertensive patients registered in the national registration system and monitoring of hypertensive patients.METHODSA cross-sectional study of quantitative and descriptive analyses with 280 hypertensive patients registered in the National Program of Hypertension and Diabetes of the Federal Government in the months from August to October 2011. Questionnaires were used which allowed for tracking sociodemographic data on hypertension and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).RESULTSThe prevalence of poor sleep quality among respondents (156 hypertensive patients) and high rates of using medication for sleeping (106 hypertensive patients) was observed. Other relevant data refers to the quality of sleep among hypertensive patients using sleep medication compared to those who do not use it (p≤0.01).CONCLUSIONIndividuals with high blood pressure have a negative association with sleep quality.

<p><strong>Background:</strong> Memory is a place where information is stored from the learning process or experience. There are several types of memory , one of them is short term memory. Declining sleep quality is directly proportional to the decrease in short-term memory. Poor sleep quality is often associated with medical student due to exams or vast amount of tasks. Therefore, researcher wants to see whether there is significant correlation between sleep quality and short-term memory function in students.</p><p><strong>Aim:</strong> To assess the association of the quality of sleep towards short term memory function of medical student of Pelita Harapan University.</p><p><strong>Methods:</strong> This study was conducted with a cross-sectional method, with taking sample using the method of a simple random sample. A total of 90 respondents at University of Pelita Harapan were taken. Data collected sorted out according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Quality of sleep assessed with PSQI questionnaire while short-term memory assessed by Digit span backward test. Results processed with SPSS version 24 and tested with Chi Square.</p><p><strong>Results</strong>: Data analyzed by Chi square test showed there are 33 students (58.9%) have poor sleep quality and short term memory function. There are also significant association between the quality of sleep and short term memory function (p value = 0.026)</p><p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> There is significant association between the quality of sleep and short term memory function of medical students of Pelita Harapan University.</p>

<p><em>Bad sleep quality causes fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and often drowsiness in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of aroma of lavender therapy on the quality of elderly sleep at Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. This type of research is quantitative with pre-experimental design using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design design using T-test dependent test. Sampling technique in this research use purposive sampling 30 responden as intervention group. The research to do in Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. The results of the study found that all elderly (100%) had poor sleep quality before lavender aromatherapy and only 40% experienced poor sleep quality after lavender therapy. The statistical test obtained p value = 0.000, where there is influence of lavender therapy to sleep quality of elderly in Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. The smell of lavender therapy can improve the quality of elderly sleep. Officer Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang in order to provide lavender therapy every 2 times / week at bedtime so as to improve the quality of elderly sleep.</em></p><p> </p><p>Kualitas tidur buruk menyebabkan kelelahan, sulit berkonsentrasi, dan sering mengantuk pada lansia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aroma terapi lavender terhadap kualitas tidur lansia di Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain preekperimental menggunakan rancangan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design menggunakan uji T-test dependent. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling 30 responden sebagai kelompok intervensi. Penelitian dilakukan di Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang. Hasil penelitian didapatkan seluruh lansia (100%) mengalami kualitas tidur yang buruk sebelum diberikan aromaterapi lavender dan hanya 40% yang mengalami kualitas tidur buruk sesudah diberikan aroma terapi lavender. Aroma terapi lavender dpat meningkatkan kualitas tidur lansia. Petugas Wisma Cinta Kasih Padang agar dapat memberikan terapi lavender setiap 2 kali/ minggu saat menjelang tidur sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas tidur lansia.</p>

Introduction: Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) has spread to 34 provinces in Indonesia. Indonesia first confirmed the case of COVID-19 in March 2020. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the teaching and learning process shifted to distance teaching. This activity-limiting measure in response to curbing the spread of COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented change in human behavior around the world. One of the changes in human behavior is sleep. Sleep is a physiological process that is highly dependent on the environment and social and varies greatly with stress levels. This study aimed to know the characteristics of sleep quality of nursing students during pandemic Covid-19 in Bali. Methods: This study is a descriptive study using univariate analysis. The population in this study is approximately 1,500 nursing students. Sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling with 422 sample. Data collection tools in the form of questionnaires that are used is a sleep quality questionnaire from the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Results: The results show that most of the nursing students’ age ranged from 15-25 (94.1%), female (79.1%) and currently undergoing Bachelor of Nursing education (68%) and students of Nursing in Bali mostly have poor sleep quality (97.4%). Conclusion: Students of Nursing reported to have poor sleep quality over the last month.

Introduction:Sleep is naturally recurring state of mind and body, characterized by altered consciousness, inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles and reduced interactions with surroundings. Chronic disturbances can lead to poor sleep quality which may manifest as increased irritability, anxiety, tension, depression, confusion. The undergraduate years are a period of vulnerability when considering sleep problems and mental health may tend to worsen over time. Alcohol, tobacco, and stimulant beverages such as tea/ caffeine affect the quality of sleep. Students are more prone to adopt and practice maladaptive sleep hygiene such as irregular bedtime, academic pressure, internet addiction, electronic media exposure, alcohol consumption and smoking, which affects quality of sleep. Material and Methods:The study was a cross sectional, interview based, non-interventional studyconducted on the engineering students at SGT University, Budhera, Gurgaon, Haryana, India. Data was collected through questionnaires such as Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, The Epworth `Sleepiness Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, The general health questionnaire. Results:A total of 274 students were included in the study. The mean age was20.11 ± 1.30 years and there were more male (77.3%) students as compared to females (22.7%). Alcohol use was present in 43(11.7%) of students, cannabis intake was present in 11(4%), nicotine intake was reported by 39(14.2%) of students and only one student reported of taking opioid. DASS-A, DASS-S, DASS-D, GHQ-12, PSQI were positively correlated with each other when associations were studied individually. Conclusion:In our study,it was established that poor sleep quality in engineering students was significantly associated with poor mental and physical health.

ABSTRACT Background: The quality of sleep in elderly tend to decline. This occurs as a result of certain changes such as physical, biological, mental and socio-economic. The quality of sleep may influence the healthcondition for short or long terms. Poor quality of sleep may cause difficulty in concentrating, slow response, memory disturbance and decrease of performance in daily life. The decline of sleep qualitymay be resolved with Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) exercise. Objective: To analyze the effect of Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation on sleep quality inelderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. Methods: This study is a pre experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. The subject ofthis study were the 19 elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution. In this study, JPMR exercise was done in5 days. Sleep quality before and after JPMR exercise was measured using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) questionnair. The data obtained was analyzed using McNemar test. Results: From a total of 19 subjects, 3 subjects had good sleep quality while 16 subjecst had poor sleepquality. On the other hand, after the JPMR excercise, improved sleep qualiy was found in the 16 subjectswhile the 3 subjects still had poor sleep quality; bivariate analysis p value = 0.002 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Jacobson’s Progressive Muscular Relaxation (JPMR) has a significant effect on sleepquality in elderly at Budi Agung Social Institution.
