This research was performed to determine the Common Metaphorical Perceptions of Prospective Teachers on DNA-Gene-Chromosome Concepts, despite classroom levels and university differences. For the baseline group studies, two State Universities, one from the east and the other from the north of Turkey, were selected to be studied in the Fall Semester of 2017-2018. They were respectively called University A” and “B”. The population sample contained a total of 326 students from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th- classroom level of the “Science Education Department” of “Education Faculties.” The phenomenology design which is one of the qualitative research methods was applied. Answers to questions regarding “the metaphors of DNA-Gene-Chromosome concepts” and “under what theoretical categories the common features and metaphors were investigated” to be in line with the university differences. The research data were obtained by ‘metaphor identification’ for respective concepts and content examination studies in the framework of “Qualitative Analysis Methods.” Correspondingly, it has been determined that Prospective Teachers have common metaphors concerning DNA-Gene-Chromosome concepts, regardless of their class or university differences. Keywords: prospective teachers, metaphorical image for DNA-gene-chromosome, phenomenological research, content analysis

The purpose of the present study is to reveal the metaphorical perceptions of prospective Turkish teachers’ related to the concept of “language”. The study was carried out with 158 prospective Turkish teachers’ ongoing Gaziantep University, Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language Teaching in 2014-2015 academic year. To reveal the perceptions of the prospective teachers related to “language” concepts  through metaphors they were asked to complete one of the following prompt “Language likes …..; because….” and “Language likes to ….; because….” within about a course period (45 minutes). Metaphor eliciation method was employed in the present study and content analysis was used for data analysis. Prospective Turkish Teachers produced seventy five different metaphors for the concept of "language". Seventy five metaphors were categorized according to the common features presented in the justifications. Six categories that were structured in this way are as follows “1.Multiple manners, Flexibility, Layering 2. Origin and oldness 3. Being alive, development, change 4. Culture Carrying, Cultural Transporter 5. Communication and Socialization Tool 6. Tool of Expressing Status and Accumulations”. The findings were compared with related studies and suggestions were made for effective use of metaphors in language teaching.

The internship has been considered as a crucial program in preparing pre-service teachers to implement the scientific-practical activities knowledge they have gained. This study aimed at describing the implementation as well as the function of the internship program based on pre-service teachers' of Farhangian University-Shahid Beheshti branch of Tehran viewpoint. The statistical population of this study was the student teachers of Shahid Beheshti Higher Education Center entering the year 2015 in which the 119 people of them were selected as the sample. As many as 31 questions about six main criteria (the assessment of Farhangian University, internship course lecturers, schools where the interns went for internship, teachers who guided interns in schools, self-assessment of internships and the assessment of education department) were designed and verified by internship professors and then a five-choice questionnaire was designed based on Likert Scale. The data obtained then analyzed using single sample t-test. The results obtained from the questionnaire proved that the university, internship lecturers and guidance teachers did not succeed in fulfilling their tasks. Thus, good coordination among university, Department of Education, and schools should be established.

At the global level, the University campuses represent a dominant type of organization of all the living activities of students. This paper dealt with the architectonic analysis of common features of the recent European student hostels, which were constructed as standalone buildings. The analysis presents the advantages and shortcomings of such spatial organization. In detail are considered the common facilities, which are present to a significant degree in such spatial organization, and which can serve as models for construction of student hostels in Serbia.

AbstractThe so-called 'Buridan school' at the University of Paris has obtained a considerable fame in the history of science. Pierre Duhem had made some bold claims about the achievements by John Buridan and his 'pupils' Nicole Oresme and Albert of Saxony in the field of medieval dynamics. Although generally, Duhem's views are no longer accepted, the idea of a 'Buridan school' has survived. This idea is, however, misleading. John Buridan, Nicole Oresme and Albert of Saxony should rather be viewed as members of an intellectual network. While interested in similar philosophical themes and understanding each other's conceptual language, they also disagreed about numerous topics. One case in point is the nature of motion, as discussed in their respective Questions on the Physics. Despite the common features of the language in which they discuss motion, the three thinkers defend different positions. This article compares the three sets of Questions on the Physics and presents a critical edition of Buridan's "ultima lectura", Book III, q. 7.

Stakeholders partnership in schools is a key factor in delivering a relevant, enabling, and responsible education to the learners. However, in the course of establishing this partnership, conflicts arise inevitably. The main objective of the study was to examine the prevalence of conflicts in schools that involve parents through a document analysis. A total of ten online cases were analyzed and served as the primary sources of data in this study. Coding was done to determine the emerging themes in each case. The analysis revealed that sexual and physical violence committed by a teacher or school official towards the learner; and negligence of duty which resulted in damage to the learner were the common sources of conflict. This suggests that parents involvement in the issues is something favorable as apparently parents are expected to be the protectors and defenders of their children especially in times when childrens rights and welfare are at stake or violated. The findings further revealed that in most conflicts, the learners were mostly offended while teachers and school authorities were mostly offenders. This finding suggests that children, even in school or under the custody of the teachers and school authorities, are still vulnerable to any form of violence and danger; and sometimes become helpless and defenseless especially when the persons who they expect to protect them become the aggressors. The finding also revealed that the learners mostly favored the courts decision. This conveys that in every court ruling, it is still the best interest of the children which is being given the foremost considerations. The implications from the findings of the study may inform the higher authorities in the Department of Education on how such conflicts will be prevented from happening. Also, based on the findings, it is recommended that the education department should take further actions in strengthening the implementation of the Child Protection Policy to keep every learner well-informed of their rights and make every stakeholder aware of their duties and responsibilities in promoting the well-being and education of the learners.

This article presents the results of comparative research into 9th century vessels discovered in numerous archaeological sites in Lower Silesia. The research was underpinned with petrographic analyses of ceramics representing a progressive trend in pottery. The reason why this issue is discussed is the occurrence of vessels with similar technological and stylistic attributes in both the south and the north of the region under scrutiny. The research leads to a conclusion that the common features shared by the ceramics artefacts may result from foreign influences in the north and the south of the region alike. However, numerous similarities in the final touches of the vessels indicate that in the first half of the 9th century (if not later), Silesian potters shared their experiences while the populations of the north and the south of the region and exchanged various artefacts including vessels. This exchange of experience in pottery production bore fruit in the form of stylistically and formally diverse vessels.

Oreochromis mossambicus is currently receiving much attention as a candidater species for aquaculture programs within Southern Africa. This has stimulated interest in its breeding cycle as well as the morphological characteristics of the gonads. Limited information is available on SEM and TEM observations of the male gonads. It is known that the testis of O. mossambicus is a paired, intra-abdominal structure of the lobular type, although further details of its characteristics are not known. Current investigations have shown that spermatids reach full maturity some two months after the female becomes gravid. Throughout the year, the testes contain spermatids at various stages of development although spermiogenesis appears to be maximal during November when spawning occurs. This paper describes the morphological and ultrastructural characteristics of the testes and spermatids.Specimens of this fish were collected at Syferkuil Dam, 8 km north- west of the University of the North over a twelve month period, sacrificed and the testes excised.
