Data technology has become the main means for activities in various sectors of life, one of which is location-based services for SMA/SMK schools in the Bangka Belitung area. By using a location-based service application, it is expected to be able to overcome the problem of finding the position of SMA/SMK in the Bangka Belitung area. In this study, we would like to discuss the search for SMA/SMK positions. Through the push, Location-Based Service will be displayed in the smartphone, which will help identify the presence of the school's position on the smartphone. The result of the application that is formed is an Android-based application that can recognize the presence of SMA/SMK positions. This study aims to create a location-based service application that is combined with the concept of overlaying geographic position information from augmented reality perception, which is one type of augmented reality. The overall application quality test results include 1). Based on the Functionality aspect, the percentage of the actual score got a total score of 91.8%. 2). Based on the aspect of reliability, the percentage of the actual score got a total score of 97.6%. 3). Based on the Usability aspect, the percentage of the actual score gets a total score of 92.2%. 4). Based on the aspect of efficiency, the percentage of the actual score gets a total value of 76.5%. 5). From the calculation of the total score in percent is 89.5%. So based on the total score in percent, it can be concluded that the overall application quality test results are 89.5%, so the prototypes produced in this study are included in very good criteria.

Android is an operating system for Linux based smartphone. Android provides an open platform for the developers to create their own application. The most developed and used application now is location based application. This application gives personalization service for mobile device user and is customized to their location. Location based service also gives an opportunity for the developers to develop and increase the value of service. One of the technologies that could be combined with location based application is augmented reality. Augmented reality combines the virtual world with the real one. By the assistance of augmented reality, our surrounding environment could interact in digital form. Information of objects and environment surround us could be added to the augmented reality system and presented. Based on the background, the writers tried to implement those technologies on now rapidly developing android application as a final project to achieve bachelor degree in Department of Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Information Technology and Visual Communication, Al Kamal Science and Technology Institute. This application could be functioned to locate school by using location based service technology with the assistance of navigational applications such as waze and google maps, in form of live direction process through the smartphone

The need of a location-based service more specifically as a mobile application sparked the interest of this paper to develop an Android Mobile Application using Location-based services. Yelp and Zomato are one of the few examples. The application created is specific to locating the nearest auto repair shops used via smartphones that detect the location of the user in order to perform the task. This application will not only benefit the customers in need for a nearby auto shop but as well as the providers of the service. The application was developed using Android Studio and was tested by using five (5) nearest auto shops around the vicinity. The results showed the directions getting to the shops as well as the type of services being provided to customers. An acceptability survey was conducted to validate the applicability of the mobile application. The survey was conducted using a controlled group consisting of the nearest auto shops and thirty (30) automobile enthusiasts. The survey presents an applicable and engaging application in assisting possible customers in case of emergency instances arise. Using the survey as basis, an enhancement of the application was completed. Finally, it was suggested that the application will reach its full potential once additional functions are implemented. Registration or Google verification of shop owners is key as it will add to the service provider directory to enable a broad listing.

Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) is an integrated sports facility complex and a public tourist spot in Palembang. Due to its extensive area and numerous facilities, visitors need a map with distinct markers for the landmark to make it easier when walking around. Recent technology advancements and its expanding role in various fields invites the question on how to integrate technology in the tourism industry. This journal aims to create an android-based digital map application with augmented reality (AR) as a guiding medium that will display directions towards the Jakabaring exit gate. This app is built using Maps SDK for Android to build the digital maps, Navigation SDK for Android to run navigation, and Maps for Unity to display AR objects that will show the directions towards the exit. The development focuses on a location-based service using GPS to track the user's whereabouts and provide real-time location data around the user. This application has a location search feature, a guiding direction (route and navigation) to a designed location, and an AR camera feature to display where the JSC exit gate is located. Every feature is working well and able to help users while visiting JSC. However, this application could still be improved in the AR feature because on its current version, it is only able to display directions to the JSC exit gate when users are within a radius of one kilometer or less to the exit.

The functionalities of smart phones have extended from basic voice communication to gaming, multimedia entertainment, information retrieval and location-based services. In this paper, we attempt to design a mobile application to assist visitors to have better understandings of popular tourist destinations and related routing information while on tour. The users can obtain descriptions of a specific attraction by simply taking the picture of a landmark photo often shown in the travel booklet using their mobile devices. This is achieved by matching the landmark picture with an image database containing popular tourist spots to locate the interested destination. The location information is further confirmed using techniques in intelligent character recognition. Upon successful identification of the interested location, tourist information regarding this destination, along with the routing details will be delivered using location-based service. We anticipate the proposed mobile application to effectively assist foreign visitors by bringing comprehensive, up-to-date tourist information and promoting better travel experience.

Today, exposure to new and unfamiliar environments is a necessary part of daily life. Effective communication of location-based information through location-based services has become a key concern for cartographers, geographers, human-computer interaction and professional designers alike. Recently, much attention was directed towards Augmented Reality (AR) interfaces. Current research, however, focuses primarily on computer vision and tracking, or investigates the needs of urban residents, already familiar with their environment. Adopting a user-centred design approach, this paper reports findings from an empirical mobile study investigating how tourists acquire knowledge about an unfamiliar urban environment through AR browsers. Qualitative and quantitative data was used in the development of a framework that shifts the perspective towards a more thorough understanding of the overall design space for such interfaces. The authors analysis provides a frame of reference for the design and evaluation of mobile AR interfaces. The authors demonstrate the application of the framework with respect to optimization of current design of AR.

Pilgrimages and travel for other religious reasons are two of the major drivers of human mobility. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) can contribute to sharing knowledge about religious heritage with tourists, residents, and religious communities. ICT innovations that help individuals find information and acquire knowledge about cultural heritage can bring new experiences and sensations to tourists and residents, in general, and to those who have accessibility problems, in particular. These innovations include augmented reality, location-based services, social networks, gamification, and intelligent interfaces. This paper focuses on religious and spiritual routes and itineraries, presenting a religious tourism experience model that allows tourists to acquire additional knowledge about cultural and religious heritage, based on technological architecture using intelligent human-computer interactions displayed on personal mobile devices. This approach expands personal and spiritual experiences when travelers visit religious heritage sites associated with itineraries.

The proliferation of mobile devices such as smart phones and other handheld appliances has stimulated the development of a broad range of functionality, including medical, retail, gaming, and personal applications. Technology that has been leveraged to enable many of these uses includes embedded mobile, radio frequency identification, location based services, and augmented reality. Embedded mobile refers to preprogrammed tasks that are performed on a mobile device. Personal care and monitoring is one of the most common uses of embedded mobile. RFID involves communication between a tag and a reader. Mobile RFID extends the technology by tagging the mobile device with an RFID tag to perform tasks on the device. Near field communication is frequently utilized in mobile payment systems. Advertisers find this of significant use in focusing advertisements based on the location of an individual. Augmented reality involves the use of computer generated or enhanced sensory input such as audio and visual components to enhance the perception of reality.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose the platform for effective transformation of points of interests (POIs) into augmented reality (AR), specifically into the three major software tools – Junaio, Layar and Wikitude. The objective is to facilitate the creation of POIs for common users of these programs and, thus, encourage the general public to participate in the formation of a new concept of applications using AR and location-based services. Design/methodology/approach The subject of this study was analysis of methods used for POI dynamisation under the context of location-based services. This paper suggests methodology based on database format transformation. It is focused on the creation of platform for automated geotagged POI transformation into AR. Findings The research results in prototype of online platform which is capable to automatically transform geotagged POI to three major AR applications. It discusses also the model implementation of this platform in Czech national tourist authority. Research limitations/implications The paper presents a proof-of-concept of dynamisation and transformation of an unspecified number of POIs stored in a simple table database and their transformation into the AR. Practical implications Services of AR are brought for the masses to effectively dynamise tourist information. Social implications Results could make the process of multimedialising data (POIs) more suitable for masses. Originality/value This paper presents a proof-of-concept of dynamisation and transformation of an unspecified number of POIs stored in a simple table database and their transfer into the three major AR applications.

One of the most exciting changes in Location-Based Services is the incredible growth of internet, development of wearable devices, and advanced positioning technologies. In addition, the big data from those sources helps performing seamless LBS as a technology. The existing processing methods used to detect the location of a particular tag, or specific device are not enough for complex processing while collecting all of the streaming data at the same time using a variety of wireless communication system [10,11,12,13]. We can use big data processing method for processing all the streaming data in real time. In this paper, we propose a framework for improving performance of Seamless LBS using NoSQL technology.
