Technical drawing (TD) is a subject frequently perceived by engineering students as difficult and even lacking in practical application. Different studies have shown that there is a relationship between studying TD and improvement of spatial ability, and there are precedents of works describing successful educational methodologies based on information and communications technology (ICT), dedicated in some cases to improving spatial ability, and in other cases to facilitating the teaching of TD. Furthermore, interdisciplinary learning (IL) has proven to be effective for the training of science and engineering students. Based on these facts, this paper presents a novel IL educational methodology that, using ICT-based tools, links the teaching of industrial radiology with the teaching of TD, enhancing the spatial ability of students. First, the process of creating the didactic material is described in summary form, and thereafter, the way in which this educational methodology is implemented in the classroom. Finally, we analyze how the use of ICT-based didactic tools such as the one described in this paper can contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals set out in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

This article describes on the one hand statistical methods for assessing informal employment based on the requirements as set by international standards. On the other hand it describes the potential of integrating various data sources to generate informal employment statistics. With as example official statistics of the Russian Federation, the authors show the features of applying the requirements of international standards. Methods are proposed for assessing informal employment in the formal sector of the economy, i.e. in enterprises that submit employment reports to the National Statistical Office. This phenomenon appears in the employment situation of many countries. However, there is no uniformity between countries in how they evaluate the application of the international standards in such assessment exercises. A theoretical model of informal employment is developed and validated based on statistical data published by international organizations. The validation focuses on assessing the causal relationships between informal employment indicators and the main components of the sustainable development goals. This analysis contributes to coordinated decisions on regulating informal employment and ensuring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this century the management of the country is in a dynamic, multiplicity and controversial environment. For their competitiveness is necessary to look for the interaction between the knowledgebased economy and the sustainable development. A strong correlation between those objects.forces scientists to analyze, create new evaluation methodologies. The aim of this study – to examine the role of importance between knowledge–based economy and sustainable development, create and calculate an integrated sustainable knowledge–based economy index of Lithuania and according to the results or research, make proposes for more effective development of Lithuania’s sustainable knowledge–based economy. The index consists of Socio-economic, environmental, innovation, human resources and information and communications technology sub–indices..The calculation showed that the development of a knowledge–based economy is not sustainable, because not all the development of sub–indices.is the same. The biggest positive changes taking place in information and communication technology, and negative – socio-economic areas. The sustainable development of the knowledge–based economy in Lithuania since 2010 is growing up.

This article is devoted to investigation of the forming and the initial stage of functioning of the UN’s Technology Facilitation Mechanism in the context of exploring new trends of international innovation, scientific and technological cooperation in interests of Sustainable development and achieving its aims. The study goal is a elaborating the conceptual model of given Mechanism in the light of tasks, enshrined in the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and addressed to the Global partnership in the interest of sustainable development as regards development of environmentally sound technologies, knowledge and innovation and other sustainable technologies.The methodology of research conducted consists of the general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, generalization and abstracting. The author have used the system principle and the historical principle. The empirical basis of analysis concludes provisions of international documents in the area of sustainable development, UNs’ documents and documents, stipulating the Mechanism activity.As results of given study are following: the proof of hypothesis that Mechanism is a key institutional innovation of global policy in respective area of international cooperation; explicating the specificity of its political and legal foundations; indicating its stakeholders; indicating its structure; pointing its priority directions of activity. The conclusions drawn are conceptual provisions that, firstly, Mechanism really has a potential for consolidating and broadening the scope of international cooperation and also increasing the coordination between stakeholders by means of elimination of fragmentation and gaps that should lead to cumulative effect. Secondly, Mechanism is designed to focus attention on facilitating overcoming various barriers, such as trade, investment and financial, of development and transfer of technologies and knowledge that should lead to a conjugating the scientific and technological progress, on the one hand, and the sustainable development, on the other hand.

The way of imagination and visualization of spatial, the ability of read, analyze and interpret different drawings for engineering students is provided by graphics training. The accurate way of technical drawings and rules in engineering drawing in final year projects are discussed in this paper. Primary and main material collection was done by distribution of questionnaires amongst the final year students and also by collecting their look outs based on a survey questionnaire amongst 300 students from different engineering departments. 300 different final year projects and 2500 engineering drawings were surveyed from a batch of students from 2016-0218. Although, the design drawings and architecture drawings in civil and architecture departments take around 90 sheets, whereas simple drawings are sparse. But in the field of geology and mind, oil and gas, hydraulics have majority of infrastructure and simpler drawings. Conclusively, the application of technical drawings is same in all departments, while in civil and Architecture department's projects, scales, thicknesses of lines, types of lines are used correctly and due to wrong use of symbols and colors is rejected. In Geology and mind, oil and gas and hydraulic due to the use of large scales, colors are accepted but, on basis of incorrect use of line thicknesses and small dimensions are rejected.

This paper presents the results of a study designed to evaluate the effect of attending an intensive remedial course based on desktop augmented reality exercises to improve the spatial ability of freshman engineering students. Many of these students have problems in managing visual information or in creating mental models of objects represented by their orthographic projections. The study reports about research on comparison tests about the spatial skills of engineering students from two Spanish universities before and after performing a specific training for improving these abilities. The training was completed by 66 students as participants, considering a control group composed of 25 students from both universities. Results show that students from both universities improve their spatial ability and there is no statistical significance between students from both universities, neither before nor after training, so we may conclude that training’s effect on both universities is analogue.

Capacity development initiatives for marginal communities with information and knowledge under the contemporary global scenario perhaps could be one of the effective instruments to make a meaningful change towards sustainable human development in developing countries. Information networking can play a key role in the initiatives toward enhancing opportunities for improved livelihood, health for all, food security, disaster management, and sustainable development. Best practices are already known in this regard such as e-commerce for better livelihood and employment, telemedicine for health, tele-food for food security, early warning for disaster preparedness, and sustainable development network as a comprehensive treatment for the sustainable development. This chapter focuses on how capacity development initiatives for marginal communities work with reference toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in developing countries. It approaches the issues and concerns related with the empowerment of the marginal communities, problems, and apprehensions in human and social capacity development in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. A lot more effort is required from governments, NGOs, and other multilateral agencies in order to bring about a sustainable mechanism of ICT planning, implementations, and development in developing countries. This chapter aims at highlighting the importance of ICT development, and the issues and concerns that are related for its expansion in the developing world for securing sustainable development.

The isolation of science disciplines and the weak integration between science, policy and society represent main challenges for sustainable human development. If, on the one hand, the specialization of science has produced higher levels of knowledge, on the other hand, the whole picture of the complex interactions between systems has suffered. Economic and natural sciences are, on matters of sustainable development, strongly divergent, and the interface informing decision-making is weak. This downplays uncertainty and creates room for entrenched political positions, compromising evidence-based decision-making and putting the urgent need to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Agenda 2030 at risk. This article presents the heterodox Eco-GAME framework for interconnecting science through trans-disciplinary social-learning and meta-evaluation of scientific knowledge in pursuit of SDGs. The framework is tested and refined in the BONUS MARES project by systematic literature analysis, participatory workshops, and semi-structured interviews, in relation to the specific habitats of Baltic Sea mussel reefs, seagrass beds and macroalgae ecosystem services produced and methods applied. The results, acknowledging the urgency of interfacing science, policy and society, validate the Eco-GAME as a framework for this purpose and present a multi-dimensional system of indicators as a further development.
