Anxiety about aging is an important mediating factor in attitudes and behavior toward elderly individuals as well as a mediating factor in the adjustment to one’s own aging processes. The aim of this study was to analyze the factor structure, internal consistency and factorial invariance by sex of the Lasher and Faulkender Anxiety about Aging Scale. The sample consisted of 601 Mexican older adults, 394 women and 207 men, with a mean age of 70.69 ± 8.10 years. The factor structure of the questionnaire was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis. Analyses show that a four-factor structure is feasible and adequate. The four-factor structure (fear of the elderly, psychological concerns, physical appearance and fear of loss), according to statistical and substantive criteria, showed adequate reliability and validity indicators. However, the obtained model does not fully coincide with that proposed by the questionnaire authors, although it continues to support the multi-factor component of anxiety about aging. On the other hand, the factor structure, the factor loadings and the intercepts are considered invariant in the two populations (men and women); however, there are differences between populations on the means of the physical appearance and fear of loss factors.

IntroductionThe behavior problems in residents may affect professionals’ performance at work, quality of work life, and even their health. Thus, it is important to have instruments that allow to estimate their prevalence. The objective of this study was to validate the Revised Memory and Behavior Problems Checklist-Nursing Homes (RMBPC-NH; Allen et al., 2003) in a Spanish population. Specifically, it was tested the factor structure of the RMBPC-NH proposed by Wagner et al. (1995). Moreover, the relevance of the different types of problems for the working performance, at the level of individuals and institutions, was explored.MethodIn the present study, a total of 200 professionals participated.ResultsA Confirmatory Factor Analysis was conducted using WLSMV estimator in Mplus 7. Results showed a good fit to the data for the four-factor model (?2(813) = 1733.73, p<.001, CFI = .90, TIL = .90, RMSEA = .08). Thus, it can be concluded that the original factor structure proposed by Wagner et al. (1995) and replicated by Allen et al. (2003) can also be applied to Spanish staff nursing homes. The reliability of the scale was adequate (α from .86 to .93). Moreover, different descriptive and correlational results showed that both the factor scores of the Spanish adaptation of the RMBPC-NH and the importance of each type of problem were associated to different variable related.DiscussionAfter analyzing the factor structure, reliability and validity of the adaptation of the RMBPC-NH scale for Spanish staff nursing homes it has found that it has good psychometric properties, so it could be a useful tool for this population.This work was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (grant number PSI2016-79803-R).

This research was conducted to know the influence of work culture and work motivation partially and simultaneously on the performance of employees at Unima. The research uses a quantitative approach. The population is all Unima employees totaling 335 employees spread over six work units. The sampling technique was proportional stratified random sampling with the amount determined by the Slovin rule, and 182 employees were obtained. The data collection technique is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis is multiple regression analysis through the help of the SPSS program. The results of the study reveal that (1) organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on employee performance at Unima, (2) work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance at Unima, (3) work culture and work motivation simultaneously has a positive and significant effect on performance. Employees at Unima. It is recommended to strengthen work culture, so socialization in order to increase understanding and acceptance of values and norms that have governed attitudes and behavior of working and interacting in the work environment, carried out continuously in line with developments and demands of the organizational environment so that it is strongly internalized. In addition, the organizational climate should be created in a conducive and transparent manner so that employees are free to express their various needs related to their work. The fulfillment of the needs related to his work will encourage him to carry out his duties well.

Background: The present research aimed at determining the reliability and validity of the Persian version of the Emotional Self-Efficiency Scale (ESES) for adolescents of Isfahan city. This study was conducted using a developmental research method. The statistical population consisted of all the first-grade high school students of Isfahan city in 2018 (n=59396). Methods: A total number of 280 students (160 girls and 120 boys, mean±SD age of 12.98±1.14) were selected using a stratified random sampling method, and completed ESES for adolescents (2015), as well as Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Children (2001). Results: An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) revealed the four-factor structure of ESES. A Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) also confirmed the fit of the four-factor structure of the scale. The results of the within-group correlation coefficient were obtained to investigate the acceptable test-retest reliability. The results of the correlation between the above-mentioned scale and SEQ-C instrument was also significant (P<0.05). Moreover, ESES and its dimensions had proper reliability over time. The reliability obtained by Cronbach’s alpha for all four dimensions of the questionnaire, given the number of items, was higher than 0.5 for each dimension and higher than 0.7 for the whole scale, which was acceptable. Conclusion: These findings indicate the acceptable validity and reliability of ESES for Isfahan’s adolescents, and its validity and reliability should be investigated in broader research on Iranian children and adolescents.

Abstract Physical activity (PA) is an essential health prompting behavior. Unfortunately, in China, only about 12% to 40% of older adults met the PA recommendations. To guide the design of future PA interventions and policy-making, innovative solutions are needed to be introduced. Physical literacy, a relatively novel concept, has been recently introduced in the field of older adults’ PA. This concept takes a holistic view of PA behavior, which proposed that a person need to be motivationally, physically, strategically, effectively, socially, and knowledgeably prepared to be and stay physically active. The aim of this study was to develop the Perceived Physical literacy for Chinese Elderly (PPLCE) questionnaire and to establish its reliability and validity. An item pool for the PPLCE was generated from literature and interviews with Chinese older adults. Expert panel reviews and cognitive interviews were applied to establish the face and content validity of the questionnaire. A convenient sample of 388 Chinese older adults was recruited to assess the psychometric properties of the PPLCE. The item-level analysis and exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 46-item self-report measure, consisting with four factors: motivation, physical competence, interaction with environment, sense of self, interaction with others, and knowledge and understanding. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and test-retest reliability of the PPLCE were 0.88 and 0.79 respectively. A positive correlation between PPLCE and leisure-time PA was found (r=0.43). The PPLCE has the potential to be used as a valid and reliable measure to assess Chinese older adults’ perceived physical literacy.

Background and objective: Globally, the use of clinical simulation has been incorporated in different nursing programs. It is important to evaluate simulation using reliable and valid instruments. Using the same instrument helps to evaluate simulation under the same criteria both nationally and internationally. The National League of Nursing developed three simulation scales which is widely used in different countries and demonstrates a good reliability and validity. Nevertheless, it is only available in English. The aim of the study was to translate the original NLN simulation evaluation scales into Traditional Chinese and evaluate its psychometric properties.Methods: Beaton and colleague’s (2000) cross-cultural adaptation guidelines was adopted. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient (α) and Corrected item-total correlation was used to determine the internal reliability. Haccoun’s single group technique was used to assess the equivalent of the scale in the original and the translated version. Lastly, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was used to determine the factor structure and Intra-Class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) to test the stability of translated scale.Results: Nine simulation experts from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and Taiwan confirmed translation of the NLN scales (EPQ-C, SDS-C, SSCL-C). Cronbach’s alpha of all subscales and overall scales were acceptable (0.72-0.89). The intra-language, inter-language and temporal inter-language cross correlations between the original and translated scales were correlated (p < 0.01). ICC of the translated scales ranges from good to excellent (0.78-0.91). Lastly, EFA also demonstrated the items were theoretically coherent (≥ 0.40) and have the same factor structure as the original English version.Conclusions: Traditional Chinese NLN simulation evaluation scales demonstrated strong validity and reliability.

Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study is to test the reliability and validity of the 3-item Useful Depression Screening Tool (UDST) for use with older adults in congregate living settings. Methods: There were 176 residents of senior housing or assisted living who completed the UDST. Rasch analysis and test criterion relationships with pain, physical activity, and depression diagnosis were used to determine validity. Test–retest reliability was conducted with 29 senior housing residents. Results: Rasch analysis demonstrated good fit of all items to the concept of depression. Criterion validity was supported, F(5) = 14.17, p < .001. Test–retest showed no significant differences in UDST scores over time (p = .29). Conclusions: The findings provide support for the validity and reliability of the UDST for use with older adults in congregate living settings.

The aim of this research is to bring the concept of Self-Expectation for Organizational Improvement” (SEOI) to the field of organizational psychology and to develop a measurement tool by forming the theoretical-empirical background of this concept. In the study, firstly, the theoretical framework related to the concept of SEOI was established and the concept of SEOI defined as follows; independent of the planned actions of the organization management, self-expectations that the individual has designed completely in his/her own mind and that there will be positive improvements and developments within himself/herself, with the individuals around him/her, and in the organization. Subsequently, a pool of items was created in accordance with the theoretical framework, a draft scale was obtained and a pilot study was conducted with 87 employees to determine the validity and reliability of this draft scale. In the analysis, a two-factor structure was obtained from the draft scale and it was found that this structure met the reliability and validity criteria. This factor structure was then tested on the main sample of 274 employees. All findings of the statistical analyses on the data obtained from the pilot study and the main sample showed that the developed scale had scientific validity and reliability and the scale was sufficient to be used in scientific researches.

AbstractBackground and AimsTo address current gaps around screening for problematic pornography use (PPU), we initially developed and tested a six-item Brief Pornography Screen (BPS) that asked about PPU in the past six months.Methods and ParticipantsWe recruited five independent samples from the U.S. and Poland to evaluate the psychometric properties of the BPS. In Study 1, we evaluated the factor structure, reliability, and elements of validity using a sample of 224 U.S. veterans. One item from the BPS was dropped in Study 1 due to low item endorsement. In Studies 2 and 3, we further investigated the five-item the factor structure of the BPS and evaluated its reliability and validity in two national U.S. representative samples (N = 1,466, N = 1,063, respectively). In Study 4, we confirmed the factor structure and evaluated its validity and reliability using a sample of 703 Polish adults. In Study 5, we calculated the suggested cut-off score for the screen using a sample of 105 male patients seeking treatment for compulsive sexual behavior disorder (CSBD).ResultsFindings from a principal components analysis and confirmatory factor analysis supported a one-factor solution which yielded high internal consistency (α = 0.89–0.90), and analyses further supported elements of construct, convergent, criterion, and discriminant validity of the newly developed screen. Results from a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve suggested a cut-off score of four or higher for detecting possible PPU.ConclusionsThe BPS appears to be psychometrically sound, short, and easy to use in various settings with high potential for use in populations across international jurisdictions.

An examination was carried out of the reliability and validity of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support-Revised (MSPSS-R; Eker, Arkar, & Yaldız, 2001) with 433 Turkish school administrators. Although it has been used often, there were no studies on the reliability and validity of the MSPSS-R for this group. The MSPSS-R measures social support from Family (FA), Friends (FR), and Significant Other (SO). An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is conducted to examine the factor structure underlying the data and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to confirm the three-factor structure of the scale. In our study, the internal consistency of the total and subscale scores were satisfactory (Cronbach's alpha = .93) confirming three dimensions and satisfactory reliability.
