A serious problem of vegetable production is the quality of sown seeds. In this regard, assessment of seed quality before sowing and storage is of great practical interest. The modern level of scientific research requires the use of instrumental automated methods of seed quality evaluation, allowing to obtain more information and in a shorter time. The material for the study was a variety of samples from the collection of Brassica oleracea L., var. capitata, Raphanus sativus L., var. radicula, and Lepidium sativum L. seeds from the Federal Scientific Center of Vegetable Breeding and the Timofeev Selection Station. Digital X-ray images of seeds were obtained using a mobile X-ray diagnostic device PRDU-02. Automatic analysis of digital X-ray images was performed in the software “VideoTesT-Morphology 5.2.” The following latent defects of cabbage seeds of economic importance were revealed and identified: irregular darkening, significant “patterning” with deep separation of embryo parts, “angularity of seeds” leading to the loss of their viability. Automatic analysis of digital X-ray images of seeds confirmed the informativeness of brightness indices of digital X-ray images, as well as shape indices. Their connection with sowing qualities of the studied seeds was established.

The seed fund is considered as a basis of food independence of the country and seed certification in many developed countries, including the Russian Federation, is care of the state. Seed farming of vegetable cultures in our country is complicated by adverse soil-climatic conditions of the majority of regions. The quality of the made seeds which does not conform to requirements of the modern agriculture providing uses of the homogeneous seeds with high field viability remains the main problem of branch. The modern level of development of scientific knowledge provides application of instrumental methods of the analysis of quality of the seeds differing in high informational content, speed and ease of execution. We developed and approved a method X-ray analysis of quality of vegetable seeds. Now programming, automation of this method is conducted. The way of the digital analysis of x-ray images in the automatic mode comes to replacement of earlier applied visual analysis of radiographs of seeds. The modernized hardware and software system is developed and approved, the program algorithm consisting of several stages is developed. There is a completion and approbation of the new software for the automatic analysis of graphic files of X-ray image of seeds of vegetable cultures under the name "Sortsemkontrol-1.0". Development and deployment of a method of the automatic analysis of x-ray images of vegetable seeds is essential to accelerate process, will increase its informational content and will allow to get rid of subjectivity, connected by the visual analysis of radiographs.

X-ray emission spectrometry is of great practical interest because the method is rapid, non destructive and quantitative. However, the analysis of light elements which emit highly absorbed long wavelength radiations is always difficult. Although recent development of multilayered microstructures as dispersive devices has brought higher count rates for light elements, the improvement of performance in the relevant energy range depends, largely, on the improvement of the excitation. For this purpose, an electronic source providing a non-focused low energy electron beam constitutes a means of obtaining a very efficient excitation. As a result, we have used such an excitation to compare the performances of some layered synthetic microstructures (LSM) and conventional crystals for the detection of soft and ultra-soft xrays, to show up a few spectral interferences and to solve them by choosing the best dispersive device. Among the cases studied, we have shown how to carry out an accurate analysis of boron in borophosphosilicate glass (BPSG) samples. Finally a survey of the lower detection limits obtained for different elements using different dispersive devices was done.

The optical properties of BaBrI crystals doped with cerium ions were studied. The possible types of cerium-containing luminescence centers are established. Based on the experimental data obtained for trivalent lanthanides, a Dorenbos diagram was constructed. According to the results of the study of the luminescence spectra measured under X-ray excitation, possible energy transfer mechanisms are assumed. This work was supported by the Russian Science Foundation, a grant of the Russian Science Foundation 17-72-10084: spectroscopy of cerium and cerium-oxygen centers, determination of cerium concentration in crystals, analysis of the results obtained. Some of the crystals investigated in the article were grown as part of the government assignment 0350-2016-0024. The data in the work were obtained using the scientific equipment of the Collective Scientific Center "Isotope-geochemical studies" of the IHP SB RAS.

The article is devoted to the analysis of limitation of dose load on the population as a result of radiological researches. It is especially actual and represents rather high scientific and practical interest. In this regard, it is very important to have information about the state of the dose load of the population in separate regions and to rank types of diagnostics by the amount of their contribution to the total dose of medical exposure. The aim of the work was to study the state of dose load of the population of Zaporizhzhia region due to X-ray diagnostics, to develop approaches to analysis and forecasting regarding its limitation. Analytical, statistical calculation and logical generalization methods were used in the course of the work. We used the results of studies carried out in accordance with the regional “Program for the Protection of the Population of Zaporizhzhia Region from the Effect of Ionizing Radiation. The authors analyzed scientific publications (15 sources), including 9 Ukrainian and 6 foreign on the relevance of the problem of exposure of the population caused by X-ray diagnostics. The analysis of the results allowed to determine that in 2010-2014 the radiation dose of the population of Zaporizhzhia region due to X-ray diagnostics averaged 0.92 mSv year-1, in 2015-2016 the dose increased and amounted to 0.96 mSv year-1. The proposed approach to the analysis makes it possible to summarize and model data on radiological studies of the population over a long period of time, to identify persistent trends in the contribution of different types of radiation diagnostics to the dose of medical radiation. All this is necessary for the development, first of all, of measures to reduce the frequency of radiography, its replacement by other diagnostic methods. Priority tasks aimed at reducing the dose load of the population due to X-ray examinations are proposed.

This paper deals with the modeling of the ionospheric plasma. Starting from the two-fluid Euler–Maxwell equations, we present two hierarchies of models. The MHD hierarchy deals with large plasma density situations while the dynamo hierarchy is adapted to lower density situations. Most of the models encompassed by the dynamo hierarchy are classical ones, but we shall give a unified presentation of them which brings a new insight into their interrelations. By contrast, the MHD hierarchy involves a new (at least to the authors) model, the massless-MHD model. This is a diffusion system for the density and magnetic field which could be of great practical interest. Both hierarchies terminate with the "classical" Striation model, which we shall investigate in detail.

Abstract The vertical velocities of convective clouds are of great practical interest because of their influence on many phenomena, including severe weather and stratospheric moistening. However, the magnitudes of forces giving rise to these vertical velocities are poorly understood, and the dominant balance is in dispute. Here, an algorithm is used to extract thousands of cloud thermals from a large-eddy simulation of deep and tropical maritime convection. Using a streamfunction to define natural boundaries for these thermals, the dominant balance in the vertical momentum equation is revealed. Cloud thermals rise with a nearly constant speed determined by their buoyancy and the standard drag law with a drag coefficient of 0.6. Contrary to suggestions that cloud thermals might be slippery, with a dominant balance between buoyancy and acceleration, cloud thermals are found here to be sticky, with a dominant balance between buoyancy and drag.

In Russian literature, very little attention has been paid to this type of injury. I managed to find only 2 articles in which this issue is treated. In the manuals on general and private surgery, both translated and original, there is no indication of the action of aniline pencils on human tissue. Nothing is said about this even in the largest Russian monographs on the treatment of wounds (Trinkler, Petrov). Meanwhile, the injuries caused by a chemical pencil, due to their peculiar course and often even a difficult outcome, are undoubtedly of great practical interest. This prompts me to report two cases of such an injury, which I observed in different medical institutions at almost the same time.
