Conventional machining techniques of ceramics such as milling, drilling, and turning experience high cutting forces as well as extensive tool wear. Nevertheless, non-contact processes such as laser machining and electro-discharge machining (EDM) remain suitable options for machining ceramics materials, which are considered as extremely brittle and hard-to-machine. Considering the importance of ceramic machining, this paper attempts to provide an insight into the state of the art of the EDM process, types of ceramics materials and their applications, as well as the machining techniques involved. This study also presents a concise literature review of experimental and theoretical research studies conducted on the EDM of ceramics. Finally, a section summarizing the major challenges, proposed solutions, and suggestions for future research directions has been included at the end of the paper.

Mobile services are heralded to create a tremendous spectrum of business opportunities. User acceptance of these services is of paramount importance. Consequently, a deeper insight into theory-based research is required to better understand the underlying motivations that lead users to adopting mobile services. As mobile services bring additional functional dimensions, including hedonic and experiential aspects, using extant models for predicting mobile services acceptance by individuals may be inadequate. The aim of this paper is to explore, analyse and critically assess the use of existing acceptance theories in the light of the evolving and ubiquitous mobile services and their underlying technologies. Constructs affecting consumer adoption behaviour are discussed and relevant propositions are made. Managerial implications are explored and future research directions are also identified.

Corporate governance in today's modern economies is growing in importance within the growth accounting equation. Although we look at corporate governance as final product of 20/21st century economies, old economic growth theories were aware of its importance for growth and development. Roots of corporate governance go back to the ancient economies of India and Greece also. This paper offers a consistent literature review assessing the nexus between corporate performance and economic growth. Individual and cross-country studies show corporate governance in majority of the cases positively affects firms performance and in turn nations' economic growth. Empirical and theoretical research show corporate governance is an important growth determinant to be reviewed in the field of growth models. This article summarizes main findings providing future research directions on the corporate governance – economic growth nexus.

Abstract. This paper presents Multiple Speed Assessments as an umbrella term to encompass a variety of approaches that include multiple (e.g., 20), short (e.g., 3 min), and often integrated interpersonal simulations to elicit overt behavior in a standardized way across participants. Multiple Speed Assessments can be used to get insight into the behavioral repertoire of a target person in situations sampled from a predefined target domain and their intraindividual variability across these situations. This paper outlines the characteristics and theoretical basis of Multiple Speed Assessments. We also discuss various already existing examples of Multiple Speed Assessments (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, Multiple Mini-Interviews, and constructed response multimedia tests) and provide an overview of design variations. Finally, we present current research evidence and future research directions related to Multiple Speed Assessments. Although we present Multiple Speed Assessments in the context of personnel selection, it can also be used for assessment in the educational, personality, or clinical psychology field.

Early intervention (EI) for infants and toddlers with disabilities relies on family-centered practices. Caregiver coaching, one family-centered practice used in EI, can lead to improved supports by caregivers and improved outcomes for children with disabilities. However, within the research literature, little is understood about the experiences, practices, and barriers EI providers face when coaching caregivers. To understand these issues, a mixed method design was used to collect quantitative and qualitative data using questionnaires, EI provider interviews, and coaching logs from EI providers. Results from all three data collection sources for 19 early interventionists provide insight into the perceptions, experiences, benefits, and barriers of caregiver coaching as shared by EI providers in one state. Implications for practice, future research directions, and limitations are discussed.

<p>This study aims to systematically synthesize more than 20 years of human resource outsourcing (HRO) studies in a way that is meaningful, concise and, useful to HRO researchers and practitioners. Using<b> </b>grounded coding technique blended with integrative literature review, empirical papers published from 1997 to 2018 are examined. This is the first HRO literature review using such techniques to answer three key research questions: What has the existing empirical academic literature revealed about the determinants of HRO decisions and outcomes? What are the key issues emerged from the literature? What are the gaps in knowledge which warrant future HRO research? Other than providing a comprehensive insight into an emerging research area, this review also contributes to laying an important foundation for the initial descriptive HRO theory development. 36 dependent variables and 99 independent variables over 449 relationships were coded.</p>

Abstract Flexible and digital manufacturing technologies like additive manufacturing (AM) have evolved as the future of modern manufacturing with the capability of obtaining multi-dimensional components and material functionality improvement. In the past decade, the additive manufacturing of steel has advanced into an effective approach for controlling local microstructure and fabricating hybrid build with tailored performance. As an emerging technology, there are still some challenges in the additive manufacturing of steel that need to be circumvented in order to attain the full potentials of this novel technology. This review paper examines the current state of additively manufactured steel as well as the associated microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion of as-built steel. An insight into further and future research directions is provided.

Supply chain sustainability (SCS) in the age of Industry 4.0 and Big Data is a growing area of research. However, there are no systematic and extensive studies that classify the different types of research and examine the general trends in this area of research. This paper reviews the literature on sustainability, Big Data, Industry 4.0 and supply chain management published since 2009 and provides a thorough insight into the field by using bibliometric and network analysis techniques. A total of 87 articles published in the past 10 years were evaluated and the top contributing authors, countries, and key research topics were identified. Furthermore, the most influential works based on citations and PageRank were obtained and compared. Finally, six research categories were proposed in which scholars could be encouraged to expand Big Data and Industry 4.0 research on SCS. This paper contributes to the literature on SCS in the age of Industry 4.0 by discussing the challenges facing current research but also, more importantly, by identifying and proposing these six research categories and future research directions.

Sand pebble soil has a wide distribution, and its dynamic characteristics under dynamic loads become an important issue in engineering field. This paper takes a review at research progresses made on saturated sand soil under dynamic loads from 1970’s, and focuses on the progresses made on theoretical research, verification experiments in dynamic deformation and dynamic strength of saturated sand pebble soil under dynamic loads, and future research directions are proposed.
