Despite much available information on the heart activity under acute normobaric hypoxia (ANH), there are no data on the leading ECG components and the criteria for predicting their deviations at various stages of ANH and depending on its duration. The aim of the paper is to determine the leading ECG components and the dependence of their deviations on the initial parameters at different stages of acute normobaric hypoxia and depending on its duration in a healthy person. Materials and Methods. The shifts in parameter indicators were determined in two groups of men (aged 18–26) under 20-minute mild (14.5 % O2, n1=30) and medium (12.3 % O2, n2=29) ANH. During the study the authors used 7 ECG parameters and oximetry. Statistica 10.0 software package was used for data processing. The authors determined normality of distribution, they also used factor analysis, correlation, and regression. Results. For all ANH degrees, the leading factor included QT, T1II, and (with one exception) RR. In case of mild ANH, the 1st factor was supplemented by P1II at the 5th minute of exposure, and in case of medium ANH at the 20th minute. The second most important factor in case of mild ANH was determined by BAR and RII at the 5th and 20th min and by BAR at the 10th min. In case of medium ANH it was supplemented by P1II at the 5th min, by RII and BAR at the 10th min, and by BAL at the 20th min. It was shown that in case of mild ANH P1II, RII, BAR, and RR deviations reliably depend on the initial parameters; for medium ANH, such dependence is observed for RR and QT at the 5th and 10th min, for RII at the 10th and 20th min, and for P1II at the 20th min. Conclusion. The main markers of heart bioelectrical processes under ANH are QT, T1II and RR, other parameters are variable. The availability to predict deviations of ECG parameters by their initial parameters depends on ANH stage. Key words: human, hypoxia, oximetry, electrocardiography, factorial, correlation, regression analysis.

The influence of acute normobaric hypoxia (ANH) on the male heart chronotropic effects was studied. Thus, a mild degree of ANH (14.5 % O2, 20 min), causing a decrease in blood oxygenation by 6.3 abs. %, accompanied by an initial (by 5 min) decrease in the RR and QT intervals. The average degree of ANH (12.3% O2) leads to a decrease in blood oxygenation by 19.7 abs. %. At the same time, in inverse relationship to the developing hypoxemia, RR and QT significantly decrease. Corrected values (Pc, PQc, QRSc, QTc) increase during the action period of an average degree of hypoxia, indicating an increase in the proportion of atrial contraction time, atrioventricular conduction of excitation and electrical ventricular systole in the total RR duration, which, apparently, provides optimal systolic heart effect. Key words: human, hypoxia, blood oxygenation, cardiointervals.

The present study sought to develop a scale to measure the values adoption of primary school children and explore whether emotional intelligence of primary school children is associated with values which are taught through curricular activities. First, the Value Adoption Scale (VAS) was developed in Study 1 by conducting exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and correlation was examined in Study 2. Data were collected using the Ten Years Emotional Intelligence Scale (TYEIS) and the Value Scale consisting of eight items. Data were analyzed with Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results of data analysis indicated that there was a moderate correlation between emotional intelligence and values, but regression analysis revealed that emotional intelligence had weak predictive power for values adoption. It was concluded that teaching values through curricular activities is not useful to foster emotional intelligence among primary school children. Results of the research are discussed and addressed along with the relevant literature.

The effects of acute hypoxia on regional pulmonary perfusion have been studied previously in anesthetized, artificially ventilated sheep (J. Appl. Physiol. 56: 338–342, 1984). That study indicated that a rise in pulmonary arterial pressure was associated with a shift of pulmonary blood flow toward dorsal (nondependent) areas of the lung. This study examined the relationship between the pulmonary arterial pressor response and regional pulmonary blood flow in five conscious, standing ewes during 96 h of normobaric hypoxia. The sheep were made hypoxic by N2 dilution in an environmental chamber [arterial O2 tension (PaO2) = 37–42 Torr, arterial CO2 tension (PaCO2) = 25–30 Torr]. Regional pulmonary blood flow was calculated by injecting 15-micron radiolabeled microspheres into the superior vena cava during normoxia and at 24-h intervals of hypoxia. Pulmonary arterial pressure increased from 12 Torr during normoxia to 19–22 Torr throughout hypoxia (alpha less than 0.049). Pulmonary blood flow, expressed as %QCO or ml X min-1 X g-1, did not shift among dorsal and ventral regions during hypoxia (alpha greater than 0.25); nor were there interlobar shifts of blood flow (alpha greater than 0.10). These data suggest that conscious, standing sheep do not demonstrate a shift in pulmonary blood flow during 96 h of normobaric hypoxia even though pulmonary arterial pressure rises 7–10 Torr. We question whether global hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction is, by itself, beneficial to the sheep.

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of nepotism on organizational silence, alienation and commitment. As a data collecting method a questionnaire which contains nepotism, organizational silence, alienation and commitment scales was used. It was applied on 662 employees working in 30 five star hotels in Turkey. Since nepotism covers the practices in establishments in which family-relative relations are concentrated, the hotels included in the sampling group have been selected from establishments whose proprietors are a part of a family/family group. Factor analysis, Cronbach’s Alpha, mean, standard deviation, correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the acquired data. The study results revealed that nepotism has a positive relationship with organizational silence and alienation and a negative relationship with organizational commitment.

AbstractThis study was conducted to determine the significance of the influence of trust information, media literacy, HEXACO personality and Husnudzon towards the tendency of using social media for seeking information at student college. The subject of this research was 280 students taken by probability sampling technique, namely cluster sampling. CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) was used to test the validity of measuring instruments and logistic regression analysis is used to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that there was a significant joint effect of trust, media literacy, HEXACO's personality and Husnudzon towards the tendency of using social media for seeking information. Hypothesis test results show that six variables namely trust, structure of media literacy knowledge, personal media literacy locus, extraversion personality type, Husnudzon towards God, and Husnudzon towards others have a significant influence on the tendency of using social media for seeking information. Meanwhile, media literacy competencies, personality types; honesty-humility, emotionality, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience do not have a significant influence on the tendency of using social media for seeking information. The results also show the proportion of variance from the tendency of using social media for seeking information explained by all independent variables is 18.0% while the remaining 82.0% is influenced by other variables outside of this study.
