The National Population Census 2011 showed that over 2 million of Polish citizens have been temporarily staying abroad for at least 3 months. The aim of analysis is to present an impact of temporary emigration on the present and future demographic situation of our country, especially the change in the population size and number of births, as well as the advancement of aging process in the coming years. The results of the census 2011 indicate that the population losses due to temporary emigration may exceed 10% in the age groups 25–29 and 30–34. The results for 2014–2050 based on the CSO modified forecast including temporary emigration and immigration show a relevant decrease in the number of population at the age of economic activity. The possible return of emigrants could counteract the depopulation of our country, but in the long run will be intensified by the aging of the population.

Based on the collected statistical material, the analysis of population changes in the North Caucasus regions since the last allRussian population census until 2018 was conducted. The article considers the main factors of the current population reproduction, and trends in the dynamics of the population in the North Caucasus were set. Based on the obtained data, the subjects of the North Caucasus are divided into two categories. The first are Russian-speaking regions where the absolute population growth is observed due to a positive migration balance that covers the natural decline of the population. The other category includes mainly national republics with a high natural growth that covers a significant migration outflow of the population. Despite the favorable demographic situation in the region under study, there is a trend towards the end of the demographic boom that is typical of the entire North Caucasus region. In general, there is a stabilization of the birth rate and natural growth, and a decrease in the intensity of migration movements.

This paper examines fertility patterns and differentials between migrant and non-migrant women in Greece using data from the 2001 census on the reported numbers of children ever-born alive by citizenship. Special tabulations produced by the National Statistical Service of Greece are analysed and presented here. The analysis focuses on Greek, Albanian and Bulgarian women born over 1950-1970. Noticeable differences are observed. Despite the fact that Bulgarian women tend to have their first births earlier, their fertility levels are the lowest. Albanian women exhibit the highest fertility while levels for native women are somewhere in between. Nevertheless, the gap observed among the ethnic groups tends, broadly, to narrow over successive cohorts.
