Information processing in learning theory involves students' ability to receive and understand the information obtained. Students' ability to identify learning methods that are appropriate to the learning style plays an important role in continuously improving the quality of teaching and learning. The need to diversify learning methods today is seen as a step to refine the learning approach in line with the latest technology development. Different student learning styles affect the quality of learning and motivation for a course, especially hospitality and tourism courses. This course is given less emphasis on the theoretical aspect and only focuses on practical needs. Thus, this study examines the adaptation of student learning style based on the Felder-Silverman learning style model. Student learning styles identified through a survey study of 80 students of Hospitality and Tourism courses were used as the basis for developing the e-Hospitality and Tourism model. The resulting e-Hospitality and Tourism model can be used as a guide in technical and vocational e-Learning.

In active learning, students engaged in several activities that can stimulate them to think and interact with the information presented, so as to create their own understanding and information through reflection. Students who are able to understand learning well will be satisfied with the learning process that occurs. Learning satisfaction can be determined by the teaching and learning process conducted by lecturers, but it can also be seen from the behavior of students in receiving learning in class. This study aims to determine the effect of active learning on student satisfaction with learning style as a moderating variable. This type of research used in quantitative explanatory research using path analysis. 73 students of accounting education courses in 2016 were examined in this study. In this study, the sample was taken by using a random sampling technique. Based on the results of the study indicate that there is a direct effect of active learning variables on student satisfaction and there is an indirect effect of active learning variables on student learning decisions through learning styles. This means that the influence of learning styles possessed by students is able to determine the amount of student learning satisfaction in class. To have insight of the students learning style is vital since it can facilitate teacher to teach and decide what methods as well as activities are appropriate for the students, for instance,  in learning English. For the students in the future, it is hoped that they can recognize their own learning style preferences in order to be able to learn successfuly, because the students themselves may have no ideas of learning styles they prefer. They just imitate what their friends do, and the teacher does not understand what the students are like and what they prefer in learning. As the consequence, it will not result in any good effect for the improvement for their successful teaching and learning. Hence, both teacher and students, particularly the teachers need to know the students’ characteristics and their learning style preferances. This study adapted the Style Analysis Survey (SAS) model proposed by Oxford (1995) concerning the the student learning style preferences. The samples of this quantitative study involved 60 students who consisted of 30 of non-English and 30 English students at UNPAM. The data taken from quetionnaire were analyzed by using SPSS into descriptive statistic. It was found that the student learning style preferences of both non-English and English students mostly fell on the Social and affective. Meanwhile, for the individual learning style preferences of each group of students are  Physiological and Cognitive executive (II) in which non-English students will remember things better if they discuss them, and English students prefer realism instead of new, unstested ideas.

To develop in children a broad range of skills, including the problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills that are essential for successful living in a rapidly changing society. The curriculum encourages student initiative by providing children with materials, equipment, and time to pursue activities they choose. At the same time, it provides teachers with a framework for guiding children’s independent activities toward sequenced learning goals. There are seven specific types of learning styles. Visual learners prefer to learn mathematics through pictures, diagrams etc. A well-balanced intelligent child is able to develop all the types of learning styles. The students have to understand and accept their type of learning style earlier so that learning becomes easier and less stressful in the future. But it is important to train and practice the other types of learning styles so that the children can utilize them as effectively as possible. The teacher plays a key role in instructional activities by selecting appropriate, developmentally sequenced material and by encouraging children to adopt an active problem-solving approach to learning. This teacher-student interaction teachers helping students achieve developmentally sequenced goals while also encouraging them to set many of their own goals uniquely distinguishes the High/Scope Curriculum from direct-instruction and child-centered curricula (high/Scope Educational Research Foundation, 1989). Teachers keep notes about significant behaviors, changes, statements, and things that help them better understand a child’s way of thinking and learning. Teachers use two mechanisms to help them collect data: the key experiences note form and a portfolio. The High/Scope Child Observation Record is also used to assess children’s development. According to Ronald Barnett, learning may or may not take place when a subject is taught. While discussing this point he has presented two contrasting images of quality. They are institutional performance and student experience, student learning or student achievement. The teacher in his opinion is central to higher education. Teaching may be able to improve the quality of student’s learning but the teacher should remind himself that it may also impair the quality of student’s learning. This is partly because student’s learning strategies vary under two polarities, one between deep and surface understanding and the other between holistic and atomistic understanding of their learning experiences. He goes on to add that for a student, learning has three distinct aspects: learning style, motivation and curriculum demands. Therefore teachers have to pursue, beyond teaching strategies to enable their students to attain certain specific skills.
