Pesantren is a subculture that has derived different cultural values from society, while santri have a habit of borrowing and lending clothes and see scabies as a blessing. This study aimed to identify and describe the correlation between cultural values and CHLB practices among santri.Design and Methods: It used descriptive analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The participants were 100 santri who lived in pesantren and were selected by using stratified random sampling. The cultural values and CHLB practices were assessed using the instruments developed by the writers in the previous study. The statistical analysis using the Spearman correlation test was applied to evaluate the association between cultural values and CHLB practices. Results: The result shows a significant correlation between cultural values and CHLB practices among santri (p=0.004; r=0.284). Most of the santri had positive cultural values (52%) and poor CHLB practices (54%).Conclusions: The findings of this study showed that most of the santri adhered to positive cultural values, and most of them had poor CHLB practices. These findings also showed significant correlation between cultural values and CHLB practices among santri. This study is expected to be the basis for school nurses to provide nursing care with a cultural approach to improve CHLB practices among santri.

Background Evidence suggests that obesity may be related toearly onset of puberty in girls. However, few studies have found alink between body mass index (BMI) and puberty onset in boys.More study is needed to assess the relationship of BMI to penilelength and testicular volume. Objective To investigate the relationship ofBMI to penile lengthand testicular volume in adolescent boys. Methods A cross􀀿sectional study was carried out on adolescentboys aged 9 to 14 years in Secanggang District, Langkat Regency,North Sumatera Province in August 2009. Subjects' BMIs werecalculated by dividing body weight (BW) in kilograms by bodyheight (BH) in meters squared. Penile length (em) was measuredwith a spatula. We took the average of three measurements fromthe symphysis pubis to the tip of the glans penis. Testicular volume(mL) was estimated by palpation using an orchidometer. Pearson'scorrelation test (r) was used to assess the relationship of BMI topenile length and BMI to testicular volume.Resu lts There were 108 participants, consisting of 64primary school students and 44 junior high school students.Subjects' mean age was 11.7 (SO 1.62) years; mean BWwas 35.2 (SO 8.48) kg; mean BH was 1.4 (SO 0.11) m;mean BMI was 17.5 (SO 2.34) kg/m'; mean penile lengthwas 4.5 (SO 1.25) cm; and mean testicular volume was 3.6(SD 1.20) mL. We found no significant association betweenBMI and penile length (r􀀻-0.25, P􀀻0.06), nor betweenBMI and testicular volume (r􀀻-O.21; P􀀻O.09).Conclusion T here was no significant relationship ofBMI to penilelength nor BMI to testicular volume in adolescent boys.[Paediatr lndanes. 2012;52:267-71].

This study aimed to analyze the relationship of insulin-like growth factor 1 with bone mass in obese female. This study used a cross sectional study method using 30 obese women aged 19-23 years, body mass index (BMI) 25-35 kg / m2, normal blood pressure, normal resting heart rate (RHR), normal hemoglobin (Hb). and fasting blood glucose (FBG) <100 mg / dL. Measurement of IGF-1 levels used the Enzym Link Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. Measurement of bone mass using TANITA (Body Composition Analyzer DC3607601 (2) -1604 FA, TANITA Corporation of America, Inc., USA). The data analysis technique used the Pearson product-moment test with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results showed that mean levels of IGF-1 (1.17 ± 0.10) ng / mL and bone mass (2.49 ± 0.06) kg (r = 0.712, P ≤ 0.001). Our findings suggest that there was a positive correlation between IGF-1 levels and bone mass

Physical exercise as an educational formula improves the motor and cognitive learning of students, and allows us to strengthen the motor, coordinative and visual skills of the students, boys and girls, that will be decisive for their integral development. The general objective of the study is to examine the relationship of visual, attentional and contextual variables, together with internalized problems (depression), and externalized problems (behavior) in primary school students. 76 students participated in the study, of which 53 were boys (69.73%) and 23 girls (30.27%), with a mean age of 6.68 and a standard deviation of .799. The students participated in a multisport activity where three protocols were previously administered: an optometric evaluation, the Caras-R, Identical Forms-R and SENA to evaluate visual discrimination, sustained attention and contextual factors. The regressive models of the study predict, firstly, that better visual and attentional discrimination avoids depressive symptoms in students, and, secondly, that contextual factors act exclusively and directly in the face of depressive-type symptoms. The importance of the visual task as a variable directly related to depression and significantly together with attention in the prediction of adaptive behaviors stands out as a novelty. Thus, good visual discrimination is an important factor in sports practice and in the prevention of emotional and behavioral problems.
