This paper aims to report the experiences of undergraduate and graduate students at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing as monitors of a university extension project called "University for a Day Program," created in 2016 through a partnership with the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (EERP-USP) with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Culture and University Extension at USP. Based on the reports obtained, the university students enrolled in the Program had the opportunity to strengthen their public speaking skills, organize their presentations, improve their interpersonal relationships with other students, exercise their problem-solving skills, train didactics and personal organization. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Program's activities continued remotely, where monitors put all their learning into practice and needed to adapt the contents. These activities and challenges contributed to the daily construction of responsibilities and professional consolidation of university students and future teachers. One of the success indicators of this Program was the entry into the EERP-USP of three high school students who visited the Program and became monitors.

The achievement goal theory seeks to understand the set of factors, such as: thoughts, beliefs, motivations, purposes and emotions that lead the development of the individual’s performance (in this case, the students) to act, and, consequently, to translate into their results actions. The objective of this research was to investigate the expectations, perceptions and motivations of students from a public high school in the interior of São Paulo. The qualitative and quantitative study was carried out in a public high school, located in a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo, in the first semester of 2019. The separation of parents can sometimes be a problematic factor for student life. Students whose parents have literacy and longer formal education tend to remain literate and evolve in the educational field. High school students seek to complete their studies and move on to higher education in order to achieve personal life goals. A large proportion of students do not understand the real role of attending school

Extension actions and projects can help maintain the relationship between the university and society, in order to meet the needs of the external community, maintaining connections with social demands, public policies and diverse social movements in order to reduce inequalities and promote social inclusion. The project UFS de Braços Abertos, which is linked to the course in Tourism, is one such project. It offers guided tours for visiting elementary and high school students to the university campus, in order to present the university, its courses, the services offered, and the research and extension projects developed, creating a closer relationship between higher education and basic education. Based on this premise, this work analyzes the relationship between tourism, university extension and basic education, through the guided tours conducted as part of the UFS de Braços Abertos project, focusing on specifically on the participation of the Executive Secretarial course. In terms of approach to the problem, this study used qualitative research. The methodological procedures adopted were bibliographic research, and interviews with the head of the Executive Secretarial department and students of the course. We also sought to identify the perceptions of lecturers of the Executive Secretarial course in relation to the importance of the project, and the visits by school students to the University. The project helps to demystify the widely held perception, among students in basic education, that attending a federal university is a distant reality. The school students often arrive with this view, but after the visit, they are able to understand more how this universe works, and can dream of applying for place at university when they leave school. The report of experience presented clearly shows the important role of the UFS de Braços Abertos project, not only for the school students who may enter the university in the future, but also for students of the Tourism and Executive Secretarial courses, as it gives them an opportunity to promote and publicize the courses, stimulating the curiosity of the visiting students and showing them more about the respective professions, which can help them make future career choices.

This study aimed to get to know the perceptions of undergraduate students from the University of São Paulo College of Nursing about physical exercise as an instrument to maintain health and well being. Data were collected through the application of a questionnaire in class, involving 122 undergraduate students. In this group, 52.23% believed that physical exercise should only be recommended to people with health problems. Only 8% thought that exercise can prevent diseases, and only 6.61% uses protection equipment. Therefore, we concluded that nursing students need to be better prepared to be able to intervene correctly as professionals.
