In this chapter we review similarity learning in spatial databases. Traditional exact-match queries do not conform to the exploratory nature of GIS datasets. Non-adaptable query methods fail to capture the highly diverse needs, expertise and understanding of users querying for spatial datasets. Similarity-learning algorithms provide support for user preference and should therefore be a vital part in the communication process of geospatial information. More specifically, we address machine learning as applied in the optimization of query similarity. We review appropriate definitions of similarity and we position similarity learning within data mining and machine learning tasks. Furthermore, we outline prerequisites for similarity learning techniques based on the unique characteristics of the GIS domain. A description of specific methodologies follows based on the highly diverse attributes of GIS datasets (for example, text, images, video), and application examples are presented. We summarize previously set requirements and present future trends expected to emerge in the coming years.

Abstract 49 Background: There is a significant need to increase awareness among chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients and their physicians about the importance of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for disease diagnosis and monitoring. PCR is one of the most sensitive ways to diagnose CML and is one of the most reliable tools for monitoring disease. Many CML patients in LMICs lack access to PCR due to a lack of awareness and/or financial constraints. In 2012, My PCR was launched to address this. Goals: increase patient awareness of the importance of monitoring residual disease increase patient understanding of CML treatment milestones increase patients' involvement in treatment increase community awareness about needs of patients Methods: Led by The Max Foundation, My PCR is a coalition of 56 patient advocacy organizations from 51 countries (mostly LMICs) that uses a collaborative approach to raise awareness among stakeholders. My PCR provides educational information and resources in >25 languages, offers grants to partners to host booths at local and international hematology society conferences, host awareness events that engage physicians, and print educational materials. My PCR uses a website and social media to house resources and promote initiatives. Results: Since 2012, My PCR has: doubled its partnership base; reached over 40,000 patients, caregivers and physicians with educational information/resources, greatly increasing patient and physician understanding of PCR for CML monitoring in LMICs; and facilitated over 70 awareness events and regional meetings, bringing together patients and physicians to strengthen dialogue about CML treatment/monitoring. Next Steps: My PCR will create a PCR Advocacy Toolkit for advocates to adapt to their local context to increase access to PCR. The Toolkit will address how to collaborate with physicians, engage Ministries of Health, and utilize existing avenues for testing. Additionally, there will be an increased focus on measuring the impact of partners' efforts in improving access to PCR testing. Teachers' competence to estimate the effectiveness of learning materials is important and often neglected in programmes for teacher education. In this lecture I will try to explore the possibilities of designing scaffolding instruments fora prioriassessment of language learning tasks, based on insights from SLA and cognitive psychology, more specifically connectionist theory. I will subsequently outline the development and evaluation of a ‘yardstick’ to judge complex, integrated, life-like tasks, such as WebQuests. The possibilities will be explored of performing in-deptha prioritask analyses as a learning task for teachers in order to enhance their competence in making ‘educated guesses’ about task effectiveness. Finally, an experiment will be described to determine the reliability and validity of an instrument for in-depth analysis of language learning tasks based on the theoretical framework previously described.

<p>Providing students with contemporary, up-to-date listening experiences in L2 is an ongoing challenge for language educators. Indeed, much commercially available material is dated or presents language in an idealised and decontextualised way. Audiostreaming provides a wealth of resources which may go some way towards resolving these issues. Contemporary teaching and learning materials on an extremely wide range of topics are easily downloaded from national radio station websites and are accessible via systems such as podcasting. This paper discusses one attempt at integrating these resources into tertiary language courses and demonstrates how these can be easily and efficiently integrated into meaningful online learning tasks. In addition, we discuss the complex issue of copyright and online materials in Australia, UK (Europe) and the US.</p>

The article presents the results of survey of teachers in Moscow schools to study a request of learning materials for formation of healthy lifestyle and prevention of health problems of students in educational process both in the classroom and in distance learning and their preferences in content of such tools. 270 teachers from 27 general education complexes of different administrative districts of Moscow took part in the survey (December 2020). The results of survey shows that today there is a shortage of educational materials on electronic resources aimed at forming student’s health and preventing its violations. There is a request from the teachers for development and creation of such tools and mainly multimedia materials.

Creating educational materials (activities, e-books etc.) in each e-learning course can be divided into 2 main parts. The first can be defined as a compilation of ideas and information that we want to pass on to the student. This section of building e-learning materials process is very abstract and correct selection of what we want to teach the students is highly delicate and depends on teacher’s skills and didactic principles. The second phase is also important but it can be formalized. Main aim of this paper is to define and confirms a set of formal rules compiled into framework which can be used as a tool for building e-learning materials. We assume that the rules presented in this paper can be used for each e-learning platform. To confirm validity of defined rules we integrated these rules into module on LMS Moodle and part of this paper is proposed experiment carried out on the same platform

Implementation of multi-literacy education in Dayak ethnic community is still not accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia number 42 in 2015.The objective of this research is to develop a syllabus and learning materials on multi-literacy learning toward Dayak indigenous community as a target. Research methods used are research and development. The research was conducted from August to October 2016. It was also conducted in PKBM Bintang Timur Kabupaten Barito Utara and PKBM Mawar Merah Kabupaten Kapuas. Results show that multi-literacylearning materials are useful for tutors to deliver multi-literacy educational materials in accordance with a curriculum, and as a tool for learners to master the materials delivered by tutors. It is expected that the impact of the syllabus and learning materials implementation can escalate learners’ multi-literacy abilities and behavior changes in maintaining environment. Keywords: teaching materials, multicultural, Dayak ethnic

<span>There has been a tendency in the past for people to see curriculum development, instructional design and the technologies used for educational delivery as three different, but complete, approaches to the output of learning materials. At times there has been inadequate communication and even antagonism between the practitioners of the different fields. Each field views its own expertise as all encompassing and able to perform all that is required in the production of educational programs and materials. This paper examines these three areas of expertise, describing their backgrounds, analysing the different types of responsibilities and looking for definable interfaces between them. It presents a layered model, wherein each layer has an interrelating place as part of a holistic approach to the production of good educational materials. Examples are given to illustrate the requirements, limitations and opportunities offered by each layer of the model to those above and below it.</span>

Example Kyai Hashim Ash'ari very relevant educational materials used as the religious-national character. The example could be included as Subjects divided Islamic education and Manners Classes Five SD/MI, in accordance with the annex to the Regulation-24 the Minister of education and culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24, 2016, core competencies for social attitudes requires the existence of a relationship between religious character (honesty in building social interaction) and love the motherland. The regulation has limitations in providing learning materials. The only use of the regulatory acts of the Prophet as an exemplary figure for religious and nationality characters exemplify. The disadvantage is that only materials provide a character one religion with learners. The use of figures can mask the weakness of Kyai Hashim. As scholars and national hero, Kyai Hashim is a character that one religion and one country with learners in the context of Indonesia.
