The sirens and lights of the ambulance are not a good sign to see. It indicates that someone's life is in danger and requires immediate medical attention. No one can comprehend the anguish and sorrow that a person's relative is experiencing at that time. Therefore, it is important to analyze various factors related to delay in emergency care from an ambulance as its own, and factors related to delay in providing treatment because of heavy traffic and ignorance of the people to give way to the ambulance.

ABSTRACTObjectiveIran, in terms of disasters, is among the top 10 countries in the world. Therefore, timely coordination and provision of rescue, transport, and treatment services after disasters are of particular importance. This study aimed to investigate and provide a short report on the provision of rescue, transport, and treatment services after the 2017 earthquake in Kermanshah.MethodsThis was a review and a descriptive study conducted using the analysis of documents and news published on valid Iranian sites and reports of some service providers in 2017 after the earthquake in Kermanshah.ResultsThe most important strengths of post-earthquake services were the military force’s cooperation, people’s support, sending the popular aid and donations to earthquake areas, and the tremendous national support and religious sympathy among the people. Sending the popular aid and donations was such that they resulted in the blockage of communication routes, heavy traffic on the roads, and disrupted the relief and rescue efforts process. However, the most important weaknesses in the provision of services after this earthquake were the lack of preparedness of the government systems and the lack of orderly management for appropriate assistance and relief and, therefore, there was an inappropriate distribution of popular aid and donations among the earthquake victims.ConclusionProper coordination and service delivery after unexpected events in Iran have a considerable distance to reaching the desired point. Unfortunately, similar problems had also occurred in other earthquakes such as the Bam and Rudbar earthquakes. The repetition of these problems indicates the authorities’ lack of readiness and commitment to troubleshoot weaknesses in their emergency response plan. Therefore, it is necessary for government officials to have more preparedness in all related affairs and aspects. (Disaster Med Public Health Preparedness. 2019;13:691–694)

The countries of Southern Africa are organized under the Southern African Development Community (SADC). They share a common social and cultural affinity, a common historical experience of colonization, and common problems and aspirations. One of their shared problems is crime, both within and across their borders. Cross-border crime is facilitated by their common and often long and open borders, the affinity of their peoples, the improved transport systems by road, rail, air and sea, and die concomitant heavy traffic of persons and goods between the common borders. Regarding this traffic, moves are already under way to make it even easier by progressively eliminating all obstacles to movement of persons within the region. It is believed that individuals are both agents and the ultimate beneficiaries of regional co-operation. Said Dr Kaire Mbuende, the Executive Secretary of SADC: “We do not see how else the SADC can come into being unless the people of the region are able to interact freely across national borders, to share their skills, experiences and resources”. This freer movement of persons within the region will also inevitably mean the freer movement of criminals and contraband across the borders.

Jakarta Special Capital Region is surrounded by a lot of infrastructures to support its citizen, unfortunately it is not enough to cope with the citizen’s growth. The scarcity of infrastructures are easily seen in a lot of sectors, including transportation sector where the numbers of mass transportation systems are not equal with the population numbers, the widening road numbers which also lack in comparison with the growth of vehicles, etc. These kind of problems make Jakarta Citizens preferring to use personal transportation rather than public transportation, which causing more serious problems such as the increasing in transportation costs, reducing the mobility of its citizens, and decreasing in population quality of life because of heavy traffic jam that happens on daily basis. To solve these problems we need to create a development concept that can comply with the mobility of the people and oriented in mass transportation which is called Transit Oriented Development (TOD).The reason why Dukuh Atas were chosen is because Dukuh Atas located in the heart of Jakarta City and also surrounded by business districts, it also becoming a central hub where many public transportations route are connected, such as Airport Train Railink, KRL Commuter Jabodetabek, Transjakarta, LRT, MRT.One strategic spot that will be developed as a transportation hub is located in Jl. Kendal, right at the front of KRL Sudirman station. The design of transportation hub as a Dukuh Atas TOD will be considering eco friendly concept, hopefully it will create a city development that can increasing the quality of the life of its citizen.

At this time the deepening of talent and skills in an academic and non-academic field is one of the important factors in children's development. Besides, Pegadungan Village also has people who are professionals as traders and employees. Where most of the offices in Jakarta are located in the center of the city that has very heavy traffic, the people who work as employees also need a place to take a break from the office world. Through questionnaire methods and theories from the book "The Rise of the Creative Class, Revisited" by Richard Florida, it is known that Pegadungan Village needs a place for refreshing and deepening talent in the arts as well as the development of SMEs. So that with the Project Architecture as The Third place with Development of Interest Activity is expected to be a container that produces creative products from people in Pegadungan Village. Keywords: After school Activity; After School life; Creative; Development of interest; RefreshingAbstrakKelurahan Pegadungan adalah kelurahan dengan zonasi perumahan.

In this modern industrialized world, Sustainable Cities have developed several rescue systems with latest technological provinces like camera, IoT’s etc. Though the systems are quite advanced, it becomes difficult to rescue the public during emergency situation, particularly cardiac patients who need immediate medical attention. Especially when the ambulance carrying the patient gets stuck in traffic congestion leading to delayed medical care, it results in instant fatality. To overcome this issue and save the critical patients, an Intelligent Rescue System (IRS) has been developed to assist the people during emergency situation. The system uses an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) apparatus that uses an electric current to safeguard the person within the short time frame until the ambulance reaches to the destination. Moreover, this system observes the condition of the patient constantly with the help of embedded medical sensors and also works efficiently to track and locate the exact tragic accident sites through GSM.

Abstract Background The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, the decline in medical demography, the ramp up of new information and diagnosis technologies, together with the growing health social inequalities urge decision makers to rethink the access to emergency care units (ECU) and reduce the rate of multiple admissions, especially for people living in vulnerable conditions. Beyond the medical causes of access to ECU, it is crucial to understand the psychosocial representations of patients and health professionals. Methods 23 socially vulnerable patients who have already been admitted within the last 3 months and ECU health/social professionals were interviewed face-to-face by a psychosocial scientist using a semi-directed approach, in 3 hospitals. The thematic content of data was analyzed in order to identify salient social representations of access to ECU. Results 27 themes emerged to understand the issue of the access to ECU, joining into 5 main categories: perceived needs for access to ECU, perception of precariousness, the relationship of patients and professionals with the healthcare system, the shared experience of aggressiveness in ECU, expectations in post-emergency support. As regards the needs for access to ICU, several issues were identified: exemption from making upfront payments, needs for listening, support, reinsurance, privacy and consideration of emergency professionals, referral by general practitioners (GP), difficult access to GP, needs for immediacy and timely healthcare services, permanent opening of ECU. As regards the experience of ECU professionals: ambivalent emotions towards socially vulnerable patients, a recurrence of passages leading to a reduced medical attention, a feeling of failure to care for vulnerable patients, coping strategies in caring for these patients. Conclusions Our results bring several leads to improve the organization and the management of healthcare in ECU and in primary care for socially vulnerable patients. Key messages To identify the psychosocial rationales of access to emergency care units provides several leads to build a more efficient healthcare policy and reduce the burden of overloaded services. To reduce the overburden of emergency services can only be achieved by a global approach of the access to both emergency and primary care and a better support after emergency discharge.

Based on The Master Plan of Semarang City from 1975 to 2005, Simpang Lima area has been established as a Civic Centre area which its development is aimed to be a culture area broadly creating public activities for the people. During its development, due to its enormous economic potential, this area has turned into Central Business District area having several characteristics such as commercial activities, multi-storied buildings, heavy traffic, teeming street vendors and others. The impact is privatization of public space in the form of occupying of lots/buildings done by a group of businessmen owning shopping centers/hotels, using of roads for parking lot, and occupancy of pedestrian ways for street vendors. The public place privatization has prevented people to use public space freely. This problem is worthy of study. Public place privatization widely influences people because on the one hand, public place gives important meaning to people in the context of purpose, social, culture, history, and politics; on the other hand, these people will also give special meaning to this place. This study uses descriptive approach which describes and interprets the problem of public space privatization in Simpang Lima area including its impact.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to describe firefighters’ experiences of first response emergency care.Design/methodology/approachThis paper uses an explorative descriptive design with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through group interviews of 35 firefighters and subjected to qualitative content analysis.FindingsThe results showed that the professional role and the firemen’s uniform serve as a protection against psychologically strenuous situations. To protect the dignity of the injured or dead is important as well as protecting and safeguarding each other from the experience of the tragedy of an accident. Having a solid, sterling medical education provides a sense of security in the emergency care, as well as when caring for the relatives. Debriefing brings thoughts and feelings to the surface for processing and closure. The feeling of sadness lingers for the people not being saveable, that had been dead on arrival or the ones forgotten.Originality/valueA firefighter’s work situation is exposed and stressful. The firemen’s uniform as a mental barrier, colleagues, time to mentally prepare and to be allowed to show feelings are all needed to cope. It is, therefore, important to encourage, promote and strengthen the protective role of camaraderie for the firefighter, which probably can be emphasized in other uniform-wearing professions such as police, military and ambulance. Being acknowledged for their contribution to other peoples’ lives and well-being can acknowledge the firefighters’ importance.
