Thirty-eight species of Isopoda, belonging to 13 families and 29 genera, are listed from Kuwait based on previous literature records (of 17 species) and collections carried out along Kuwait’s coastal and subtidal zones during the present study. The majority of species belongs to the suborder Cymothoida (23), followed by Sphaeromatidea (9), Oniscidea (3), Valvifera (2), and Asellota (1). In total, 25 species were collected and identified from 12 families and 22 genera from Kuwaiti coastal and subtidal areas. These include eight families, 15 genera, and 21 species recorded for the first time from Kuwait. Isopod diversity was highest in the sandy rock areas, including southern Kuwait, particularly in Al-Khiran and Al-Nuwaiseeb, and in mixed habitat (muddy, rocky, and sandy) intertidal transects such as in Failaka Island. The species number increased from the subtidal and lowest zones into the high tidal zone. Isopods were found in sandy substrata, among shells, cobbles, rocks, dead corals, and algae.

The four sesquiterpenes calameone (1), dehydrocostus lactone (2), aristolone (3), alantolactone (4) and one triterpenoid α-amyrine (5), simple phenolic compounds such as 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, (6), piceol (7), apocynin (8), dihydroconiferyl (9) and coniferyl (10) have been identified by using the proton and carbon NMR spectra which were isolated from a dichloromethane extract of the roots of Aucklandia lappa Decne. Their structures were established by the one‐and two‐dimensional NMR techniques including DEPT, COSY and HMBC spectroscopy. This work examined proton and carbon NMR data of calameone (1) and aristolone (3) for the first time, which had not yet been fully studied in previous literature. An annotated catalogue of the Nepticulidae and Opostegidae of mainland France (including Monaco) and Corsica is presented. All previous literature records are given and interpreted where necessary. We provide detailed records for material collected and studied by us. A total of 150 species of Nepticulidae and 6 species of Opostegidae are listed. All but one Nepticulidae are recorded from mainland France, 46 Nepticulidae and 2 Opostegidae are listed for Corsica, and two Nepticulidae and one Opostegidae for Monaco. The following species are recorded for the first time from France (mainland only): Stigmella carpinella (Heinemann, 1862), S. vimineticola (Frey, 1856), Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) magna A. & Z. LaštÁvka, 1997 and Ectoedemia hexapetalae (SzÝcs, 1957); Parafomoria halimivora Van Nieukerken, 1985 also is reported for France on re-interpretation of earlier literature records of P. helianthemella. New for mainland France but known from Corsica is Ectoedemia heringella (Mariani, 1939). New for Corsica, but previously known from France are: Stigmella luteella (Stainton, 187), Trifurcula (Levarchama) eurema (Tutt, 1899), T. (Trifurcula) josefklimeschi Van Nieukerken, 1990, T. (T.) calycotomella A. & Z. LaštÁvka, 1997, Bohemannia quadrimaculella (Boheman, 1853), and Ectoedemia (Ectoedemia) occultella (Linnaeus, 1767). The following species are removed from the list: Stigmella pretiosa (Heinemann, 1862) and S. poterii (Stainton, 1857), both from mainland France and Corsica, and Trifurcula (Trifurcula) pallidella (Duponchel, 1839) from mainland France, but it does occur in Corsica. The occurrence in France of Stigmella stelviana (Weber, 1938), Trifurcula (T.) serotinella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), and Ectoedemia arcuatella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855) is confirmed, and for 15 species previously recorded in checklists, we provide the first detailed records for mainland France, and for four species for Corsica. The following new host records are given: Stigmella centifoliella (Zeller, 1848) reared from Alchemilla sp. (from label data of Chrétien); T. (Glaucolepis) magna reared from Thymus (from label data of Chrétien); T. (T.) silviae mines were found on Onobrychis viciifolia. The female genitalia of T. magna are illustrated and described for the first time. A lectotype is selected for Nepticula teucriella Chrétien, 1914 (now in Trifurcula (Glaucolepis)). The type locality for Trifurcula luteola is established to be in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and not in Aude. The richest départements are: 66-Pyrenées-Orientales with 70 species, 77- Seine-et-Marne with 65 species, 68-Haut-Rhin with 58 and 33-Gironde with 57.

The site of Kharaib el-Desht on Failaka Island, Kuwait, was explored by an archaeological Kuwaiti–Polish team for the first time in 2013. The project included a survey and underwater archaeological research. Preliminary results indicate a dating of the site to the late Islamic period. Pottery collected from the survey of the site and from the excavations has been studied in a sepearate appendix to this report. As for the underwater and waterfront archaeology project, the main objective was to locate and describe seashore archaeological sites, provide documentary evidence and manage proper preservation of the discoveries in order to further educational opportunities.

The Chinese fauna of Argyresthia Hübner, [1825] included by 14 described species prior to this study. In the present paper we describe 43 new species and record seven species new to China. We also recognized six known Chinese species based on the available specimens; eight species previously reported for the fauna, but without available specimens for examination, are systematically placed in their relevant positions. The total species number of Argyresthia in China is brought to 64. The new species include: A. (Blastotere) aureola, sp. nov., A. (B.) sporadolepis, sp. nov., A. (B.) cineretra, sp. nov., A. (B.) affinicineretra, sp. nov., A. (B.) albaureola, sp. nov., A. (B.) densa, sp. nov., A. (B.) punctireticulata, sp. nov., A. (B.) dolichocoremata, sp. nov., A. (B.) longipenella, sp. nov., A. (A.) angusta Moriuti, 1969, A. (A.) alpha Friese & Moriuti, 1968, A. (A.) beta Friese & Moriuti, 1968, A. (A.) kaoyaiensis Moriuti, 1982, and A. (A.) dislocata Meyrick, 1914. The male of A. (A.) trochaula Meyrick, 1938, and the male and female genitalia of A. (A.) aphoristis Meyrick, 1938 and A. (A.) dislocata are described for the first time. The misidentified species A. (A.) assimilis Moriuti, 1977 in China is described as A. (A.) mala, sp. nov. Argyresthia cryptomeriae Yang, nomen non rite publicatum, is validated as Argyresthia anthocephala Meyrick, 1936. Keys to the subgenera and to the Chinese species with available specimens are provided.        Photos of adults and male and female genitalia are provided for all the examined species except two from Taiwan. Field photographs and biological information are provided where available. Five DNA barcode sequences of the two new species, A. (A.) surrecta, sp. nov. and A. (A.) lanosa, sp. nov., are provided for association of the sexes.

Critical examination of the pteridophytes of District Mansehra based on our own field surveys and previous literature as well revealed the occurrence of total 130 taxa distributed in 34 genera and 17 families. Of these, 23taxa are new records for the study area, while Polystichum obliquum (D. Don) T. Moore  is reported for the first time for Pakistan. Nomenclatural reassessment of previously reported taxa suggests that 23 taxa are now synonyms. Habitat-wise, 68 taxa are terrestrial, while 54 are epilithic, 5exist as epiphytes and the remaining 3 are aquatic.

A study of nearly 10,000 specimens of Staphylinidae collected in the Ionian island Corfu, Greece, in late spring 2017 yielded more than 233 species. Additional, previously unpublished records of 66 named species are reported from the island. Two species are described and illustrated: Borboropora corcyrana Assing spec. nov. of the Aleocharinae and Ocypus corcyranus Assing spec. nov. of the Staphylininae. As many as 118 named species are reported from Corfu for the first time, 21 of these species represent first records from Greece. One name is revalidated and six names are synonymized: Euplectus jonicus Meggiolaro, 1966 (revalidated) = E. jonicus corcyreus Meggiolaro, 1966, syn. nov.; Mycetoporus punctipennis Scriba, 1868 = M. insulanus Luze, 1901, syn. nov.; Anotylus tetracarinatus (Block, 1799) = A. corcyranus (Coiffait, 1968), syn. nov.; Bledius corniger Rosenhauer, 1856 = B. bubalus Gistel, 1857, syn. nov.; Paederus littoralis Gravenhorst, 1802 = P. pelikani Reitter, 1884, syn. nov.; Leptacinus batychrus (Gyllenhal, 1827) = Phacophallus corcyranus Bordoni, 2017, syn. nov. Including reliable previous literature records and the new records reported in the present paper, 446 named species (plus additional unnamed species) are currently known from Corfu. Thus, the known fauna of this island is significantly more diverse than those of other East Mediterranean islands, including the much larger Cyprus. A checklist of the Staphylinidae fauna of Corfu is provided. Although at present 18 species and subspecies have been recorded exclusively from Corfu, most of them are unlikely to represent island endemics; three of these species are of doubtful taxonomic status. The Dermaptera species number reported for the Italian fauna (27 species) is the most conspicuous among the European Union. The knowledge on Italian Dermaptera is among the most accurate in Europe, above all thanks to the large number of well-known entomologists who, over two centuries, have dedicated themselves to it in depth. Half of the species of Dermaptera known for Italy have indeed been described by Italian entomologists. Four species are alien and some of which have long been acclimatized in Italy. Among these, Forficula smyrnensis Audinet- Serville, 1838, is reported here for the first time from Italy, found in the Marche, Veneto and Emilia Romagna Regions in 2011, 2018 and 2020 respectively. The last record could suggest an acclimatization of this species in Italy. The knowledge of Italian Dermaptera was already very wide and accurate in 1994 when the 36th issue of the Checklist of the Italian fauna was published and even more so after the revision of 2005. The recent revision of the genus Chelidurella Verhoeff, 1902 on a molecular basis has substantially confirmed the great complexity for this genus in Italy and the ongoing research on the genus Chelidura Latreille, 1825 in the central-western Alps could unveil a similar complexity.

This is a study on the leaf beetle subgenus Cryptocephalus Geoffroy, 1762 from China, with the particular emphasis upon the species-group classification of the subgenus and the taxonomy of the Cryptocephalus heraldicus species group. A new key is compiled to all the species groups found in China. Four new species are described from China: Cryptocephalus (Cryptocephalus) biordopunctatus sp. nov. from Yunnan, C. hani sp. nov. from Shanxi, Hubei, Shaanxi and Gansu, C. incisodentatus sp. nov. from Sichuan and Yunnan, and C. nigroflavusiventerus sp. nov. from Yunnan. Three species are found for the first time in China: C. lacosus Pic, 1922, C. nigriceps Allard, 1891 and C. rajah Jacoby, 1908. The species C. nigrolimbatus Jacoby, 1890 is transferred from the subgenus Burlinius Lopatin to this subgenus and assigned to the Cryptocephalus heraldicus group. The species number of this group is now 30 in total according to our result of taxonomic review. A key to all the mainland China species of this species group is provided as well as high quality color images and line drawings of adult habitus, aedeagus, and other important structures. All the types of the new species are deposited in the collection of Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IZ-CAS).

In 2013–2015, 9 waterbodies situated in mountain and lowland regions of Northwestern India were studied. 46 species of zooplankton organisms were revealed, among them 18 Rotifera species, 20 Cladocera, 8 Copepoda, and 1 species of Anostraca. For this part of India, it was the first time detected 8 Rotifera species, 5 Cladocera, and 2 Copepoda. Cosmopolites and Paleotropic species were registered in all waterbodies studied in the Himalayans and lowland India. Palearctic and Holarctic species — in the Himalayans only. Tropic species were found in lowland India only. Species number and zooplankton species diversity index were low. Zooplankton density was relatively high in one from four mountain lakes and in all lowland waterbodies (99–487 thousands ind./m3). Zooplankton biomass was low (0.04–8.00 g/m3) in both mountain and lowland lakes, in exception two lowland lakes with wind onset and overwintering place for large birds. Rotifera dominated by biomass only in mountain region. Cladocera predominated in zooplankton density and biomass in majority of studied waterbodies. This group was represented by coastal and macrophyte forms which are usual for shallow waterbodies. Copepoda were abundant in five studied waterbodies and basically were represented by Cyclopoida. Calanoida group (Diaptomidae) was revealed in only one lowland lake located in a desert. Macrofiltrators represented the main part of zooplankton trophic structure. Microphages and predators subdominated in zooplankton communities.

Species of the tribe Chorosomatini (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Rhopalidae: Rhopalinae) occurring in China are reviewed. Type materials of three species described from China, so far of uncertain identities, are re-examined and documented, and taxonomic changes are accordingly proposed. The following synonymies, suspected but not explicitly proposed by previous authors, are confirmed and explicitly proposed: Agraphopus lethierryi Stål, 1872 = A. yunnanus Hsiao, 1965; Leptoceraea viridis Jakovlev, 1873 = L. granulosa Hsiao, 1965; Chorosoma macilentum Stål, 1858 = Ch. brevicolle Hsiao, 1964. Faunistic records of other species of the tribe are provided, and several misidentifications in the previous literature are corrected; Ch. gracile Josifov, 1968, and Ch. schillingii (Schilling, 1829) are recorded for the first time from China. A checklist of the species and subspecies of Chorosomatini occurring in China, with a review of their distribution, and a key for their identification, are provided.
