The chapter reports on the results of research carried out over the last two years on the state of e-business developments within ERP environments worldwide. Structured interviews were used to collect data in two stages. The first group of organisations was drawn from Australia and the results from this stage used to refine the data collection instrument. The second group consisted of relatively mature ERP based organisations from a range of industries around the world. The findings were analysed according to an established research framework from Business Process Change. This showed that while facilitators in aspects of e-business change management such as cultural readiness, knowledge and learning capabilities and relationship building were recognised by organisations, the extent to which they were incorporated as part of the implementation varied greatly. This suggests a rich field for future research study regarding the success of e-ERP projects.

Driven by Cyber Physical Systems, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things and Automation, Industry 4.0 is expected to revolutionize the world. A new era beckons for enterprises of all sizes, markets, governments, and the world at large as the digital economy fully takes off under Industry 4.0. The United Nations has also expressed its desire to usher in a new era for humanity with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG’s) replacing the Millennial Development Goals (MDG’s). Critical to the achievement of both of the above-mentioned ambitions is the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources. Big Data Analytics, an important arm of Industry 4.0, gives organizations the ability to eco-innovate from a resource perspective. This paper conducts an analysis of previously published research literature and contributes to this emerging research area looking at Big Data Usage from a strategic and organizational perspective. A conceptual framework that can be utilized in future research is developed from the literature. Also discussed is the expected impact of Big Data Usage towards firm performance, particularly as the world becomes more concerned about the environment. Data driven eco-innovation should be in full motion if organizations are to remain relevant in tomorrow’s potentially ultra-competitive digital economy.


Big Datais a buzzword affecting nearly every domain and providing different set new opportunity for the development of knowledge discovery process. Although it comes with challengeslike abundance, extensiveness and diversity, timeliness and dynamism, messiness and vagueness, and with an uncertainty as all the data generated does not relates to any specific question and can be associated with another process or activity. To address these challenges are certainly cannot be handled by the traditional infrastructure, platforms and frameworks. New analytical techniques and high performance computing architecture came into picture to handle this explosion. These platforms and architecture are giving a cutting edge to the Big Data Knowledge Discovery process by using Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Expert systems. This study encompasses a comprehensive review of Big Data analytical platforms and frameworks with their comparative analysis. A Knowledge Discovery architecture for Big Data Analytics is also proposed while considering the fundamental aspect of gaining insights from Big Data sets and focus of this analysis is to provide the open challenges associated with these techniques and future research directions.

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a developing technology attracting attention from the industry and the academia. Hundreds of millions of vehicles are projected to be connected within the IoV environments by 2035. Each vehicle in the environment is expected to generate massive amounts of data. Currently, surveys on leveraging deep learning (DL) in the IoV within the context of big data analytics (BDA) are scarce. In this paper, we present a survey and explore the theoretical perspective of the role of DL in the IoV within the context of BDA. The study has unveiled substantial research opportunities that cut across DL, IoV, and BDA. Exploring DL in the IoV within BDA is an infant research area requiring active attention from researchers to fully understand the emerging concept. The survey proposes a model of IoV environment integrated into the cloud equipped with a high-performance computing server, DL architecture, and Apache Spark for data analytics. The current developments, challenges, and opportunities for future research are presented. This study can guide expert and novice researchers on further development of the application of DL in the IoV within the context of BDA.

Background: Many antibiotics were widely used as medication based on their distinctive features. Among them, sulphonamides were commonly used, however their recalcitrant nature makes them difficult to dispose. Hence, their interaction with environment and analytic technique requires considerable attention globally. Objective: Therefore, this review aimed to provide detailed discussion about environmental as well as human health behaviour and analytic techniques corresponding to sulphonamides. Methods: Various results and discussion were extracted from technical journals and books published by different researchers from all over the world. The cited bibliographic references were intentionally investigated in order to extract relevant information related to proposed work. Results: In this review, the determination techniques such as UV-spectroscopy, Enthalpimetry, Immunosensor, Chromatography, Chemiluminescence, Photoinduced fluorometric determination, Capillary electrophoresis for sulphonamide determination were discussed in detail. Among them, High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and UV-spectroscopy was effective and extensively used for screening sulphonamide. Conclusion: Knowing the quantification and behaviour of sulphonamide in aqueous solution is mandatory to opt the suitable wastewater treatment required. Hence, choosing appropriate high precision and feasible screening techniques is necessary, which can be attained with this review.

Steel fibers and their aspect ratios are important parameters that have significant influence on the mechanical properties of ultrahigh-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC). Steel fiber dosage also significantly contributes to the initial manufacturing cost of UHPFRC. This study presents a comprehensive literature review of the effects of steel fiber percentages and aspect ratios on the setting time, workability, and mechanical properties of UHPFRC. It was evident that (1) an increase in steel fiber dosage and aspect ratio negatively impacted workability, owing to the interlocking between fibers; (2) compressive strength was positively influenced by the steel fiber dosage and aspect ratio; and (3) a faster loading rate significantly improved the mechanical properties. There were also some shortcomings in the measurement method for setting time. Lastly, this research highlights current issues for future research. The findings of the study are useful for practicing engineers to understand the distinctive characteristics of UHPFRC.
