Online platforms and multiple accesses are two of the necessary conveniences that consumers nowadays look for. A multiple channel strategy allows customer interaction from various angles but does not provide a flawless, coherent user experience. This chapter identifies key factors that drive a successful omni-channel platform and proposes a successful omni-channel strategy framework. A survey consisting of 21 items was administered to gain customers' perspectives on channels provided by a particular company. Descriptive analysis was performed to study the underlying issues faced by customers when making complaints, service request, and enquiries via the multi-channel interaction provided. Findings show that eight technological and four customer engagement factors contribute to a comprehensive omni-channel strategy framework for a deeper understanding on the significance of a flawless user platform.

BACKGROUND Across eHealth intervention studies involving children, adolescents, and their parents, researchers have measured users’ experiences to assist with intervention development, refinement, and evaluation. To date, there are no widely agreed-on definitions or measures of ‘user experience’ to support a standardized approach for evaluation and comparison within or across interventions. OBJECTIVE We conducted a scoping review with subsequent Delphi consultation to (1) identify how user experience is defined and measured in eHealth research studies, (2) characterize the measurement tools used, and (3) establish working definitions for domains of user experience that could be used in future eHealth evaluations. METHODS We systematically searched electronic databases for published and gray literature available from January 1, 2005 to April 11, 2019. Studies assessing an eHealth intervention that targeted any health condition and was designed for use by children, adolescents, and their parents were eligible for inclusion. eHealth interventions needed to be web-, computer-, or mobile-based, mediated by the internet with some degree of interactivity. Studies were also required to report the measurement of ‘user experience’ as first-person experiences, involving cognitive and behavioural factors, reported by intervention users. Two reviewers independently screened studies for relevance and appraised the quality of user experience measures using published criteria: ‘well-established’, ‘approaching well-established’, ‘promising’, or ‘not yet established’. We conducted a descriptive analysis of how user experience was defined and measured in each study. Review findings subsequently informed the survey questions used in the Delphi consultations with eHealth researchers and adolescent users for how user experience should be defined and measured. RESULTS Of the 8,634 articles screened for eligibility, 129 and one erratum were included in the review. Thirty eHealth researchers and 27 adolescents participated in the Delphi consultations. Based on the literature and consultations, we proposed working definitions for six main user experience domains: acceptability, satisfaction, credibility, usability, user-reported adherence, and perceived impact. While most studies incorporated a study-specific measure, we identified ten well-established measures to quantify five of the six domains of user experience (all except for self-reported adherence). Our adolescent and researcher participants ranked perceived impact as one of the most important domains of user experience and usability as one of the least important domains. Rankings between adolescents and researchers diverged for other domains. CONCLUSIONS Findings highlight the various ways user experience has been defined and measured across studies and what aspects are most valued by researchers and adolescent users. We propose incorporating the working definitions and available measures of user experience to support consistent evaluation and reporting of outcomes across studies. Future studies can refine the definitions and measurement of user experience, explore how user experience relates to other eHealth outcomes, and inform the design and use of human-centred eHealth interventions.

The role of a forest sector in the transition to a circular economy (CE) is critical. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to summarize the main findings of the most important published articles and to provide insights on the interdisciplinary space at the interface of concepts related to a forest-based CE. Moreover, it attempts to assess the challenges raised from adopting the CE in forest sector. Through a systematic literature review, 69 scientific publications were selected and evaluated by two sights: (i) a descriptive analysis and (ii) a cluster analysis of the keywords related to the forest-based CE. The study highlights the need for additional survey on optimizing the interaction between forest ecosystem services and circular economy. Further discussion is also needed about the relations of the key factors associated with the forest-based circular economy, as they emerged from the cluster analysis and the co-occurrence network map.

Background: The evaluation of ankle–foot orthoses is primarily focused on biomechanical performance, with comparatively less studies pertaining to users’ quality of life and experiential factors. Objectives: To investigate how child users regard acquisition and use of ankle–foot orthoses through the perspectives of child users, parents/carers and practitioners. Study design: Inductive content analysis of secondary data. Methods: Child user and parent/carer perspectives, as communicated by them and by practitioners, were collected from online platforms and formal publications. Data and themes were analysed through an inductive approach. Investigator triangulation was used to increase trustworthiness and reduce bias. Results: We found and analysed 223 data points from 30 informal online platforms and 15 formal publications. These data clustered into five key themes relating to user experience with ankle–foot orthoses, including materials, structure, aesthetics, service and impact. Child users had mixed opinions about ankle–foot orthoses, reporting satisfaction with the functional improvements resulting from ankle–foot orthosis wear, while noting negative feelings from the experience of acquiring and using the device. Conclusion: This research suggests that considering the five themes in ankle–foot orthosis provision could improve the child user experience, inform future ankle–foot orthosis design, and improve clinical outcomes.

We are currently living in a world dominated by mobile apps and connected devices. State-of-the-art mobile phones and tablets use apps to organize knowledge and information, control devices, and/or complete transactions via local, web, and cloud services. However, users are challenged to select a suite of apps, from the millions available today, that is right for them. Apps are increasingly differentiated only by the user experience and a few specialized functions; therefore, many apps are needed in order to cover all of the services a specific user needs, and the user is often required to frequently switch between apps to achieve a specific goal. User experience is further limited by the inability of apps to effectively interoperate, since relevant user data are often wholly contained within the app. This limitation significantly undermines the continuous (function) flow across apps to achieve a desired goal. The result is a disjointed user experience requiring app switching and replicating data among apps. With these limitations in mind, it appears as if the current mobile experience is nearing its full potential but failing to leverage the full power of modern mobile devices. In this paper, we present a vision of the future where apps are no longer the dominant customer interaction in the mobile world. The alternative that we propose would “orchestrate” the mobile experience by using a “moment-first” model that would leverage machine learning and data mining to bridge a user's needs across app boundaries, matching context, and knowledge of the user with ideal services and interaction models between the user and device. In this way, apps would be employed at a function level, while the overall user experience would be optimized, by liberating user data outside of the app container and intelligently orchestrating the user experience, to fulfill the needs of the moment. We introduce the concept of a functional entry-point and apply the simple label “FUNN” to it (which was named “FUNC” in (Wang, 2014)). We further discuss how a number of learning models could be utilized in building this relationship between the user, FUNN, and context to enable search, recommendations and presentation of FUNNs through a multi-modal human–machine interface that would better fulfill users' needs. Two examples are showcased to demonstrate how this vision is being implemented in home entertainment and driving scenarios. In conclusion, we envision moving forward into a FUNN-based mobile world with a much more intelligent user experience model. This in turn would offer the opportunity for new relationships and business models between software developers, OS providers, and device manufacturers.

In mid-2013 Deepak Kumar, Chairman and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip (MMT), was headed to the Hindustan conference room of the company's head office in Gurgaon, India, for deciding the new homepage design. A day earlier, Ajay, Product Head, had shared the consolidated results of the trials of different options (see Exhibit 1 for the results of testing the options) with the homepage website redesign team, responsible for the entire project. The team consisted of the head of business (CBO), the Analytics Head, the user experience (UX)head, the Product Head and the Tech Head (CTO). Looking at the results, Deepak Kumar reflected that there were a lot of surprises in how the different options had performed. While the tracking tools in online businesses had a huge advantage over traditional businesses in that almost every customer interaction could be measured, there was still a lot of reading between the numbers that had to be done. Deepak was looking forward to a fruitful discussion to evaluate the options and finalise the new homepage design to be rolled out. As he opened the door to the conference room, he heard an excited chatter.

Roboticists have developed a diverse array of powered exoskeletons for human augmentation and rehabilitation over the last few decades. One of the key design objectives is to minimize the discomfort to enhance the user experience. The high inertia and joint misalignment of conventional rigid exoskeletons are two key factors that cause these problems. Different types of control algorithms have been developed to compensate the inertia and render low impedance to the wearers [1–2].

In this research we aim to identify factors which can contribute to the development of female entrepreneurship. We enumerate these factors in order to stimulate this phenomenon due to its importance for economic development and social development. After identifying these determinants, we list each according to its relative importance and create a matrix, which shows their interdependence at each level of the development of the entrepreneurial process. A quantitative approach was adopted to identify and define these determinants. Our research focused on female entrepreneurial careers in Saudi Arabia. An entrepreneurial career is evaluated as successful if it establishes an entrepreneurial project, because our objective is to motivate women to adopt not only an entrepreneurial intention, but an actual entrepreneurial career. The questionnaire used here was administered to 103 women who had already started an entrepreneurial career. The results show that individual factors are important, but environment factors are more important, especially political factors. The most important contribution of this study is the matrix it defines, in which every determinant can be used differently based on the different steps in the entrepreneurial process. This can provide policy makers with a tool according to which they can detect the key factors of success.
