Trends and Patterns in Turnaround Strategies

The paper aims to examine the publications on turnaround strategies and identify scientific gaps. Hence, bibliographic couplings of countries, institutions, journals, publications, authors, and co-occurrences of the author keywords were analyzed. Bibliographic methods were employed to examine and visualize the characteristics of the publications with the aid of VOSViewer software. Using 174 articles from the Scopus database, the results revealed that corporate distress, turnaround, organizational decline, turnaround strategies, corporate strategy, financial distress, retrenchment, turnaround strategy, and turnarounds were among the most studied key concepts in this area, The “Journal of Strategy and Management” and “European Management Journal” were the top journals. United States, United Kingdom, and India were the most influential countries. The Fort Hays University and McMurry University were top research institutions. Notably, Huang, Y., Reddy, K.S., and Xie, E. were the most influential authors in this research area. These results will help academicians and practitioners.

Abstract Background: The programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) pathway inhibits T-cell receptor-mediated production of IL-2 and T-cell proliferation and plays an important role in the immunosuppression of various types of cancers. An increasing number of studies have focused on the potential utilization of anti-PD-L1 therapy in gastrointestinal cancers. In this study, we aimed to analyze developments and emerging trends in studies of PD-L1 in gastrointestinal cancers from a bibliometric perspective. Methods: Manuscripts were retrieved from th Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) Database. CiteSpace, a bibliometric software, was used to identify landmark studies, key concepts, and various subtopics in this research area. Results: A total of 1325 manuscripts examining PD-L1 in gastrointestinal cancers were included. Manuscripts published in 2017 and 2018 accounted for almost half of the publications (44.2%, 586/1325). Combined with 31,960 references, the manuscripts on this topic constituted a complex co-citation network, and landmark papers were identified by indexes including citation in the network, betweenness centrality, and burstiness . Key concepts such as “Regulatory T cell,” “TIL,” and “Her2” were identified in the co-citation network for author keywords. Furthermore, several subtopics were identified during the process of “clustering” in colorectal, gastroesophageal, and hepatopancreatobiliary cancers, such as “predictive biomarkers”, “advanced cancers”, and “clinical efficacy”. Conclusions: Research on PD-L1 i n gastrointestinal cancers is a rapidly progressing area. More scientific findings are expected in the near future. Analysis and summarization from a bibliometric perspective not onlyidentify landmark manuscripts and hot-spot concepts but also indicate possible directions for future studies.

In his seminal 1995 paper, Dung paved the way for abstract argumentation, a by now major research area in knowledge representation. He pointed out that there is a problematic issue with self-defeating arguments underlying all traditional semantics. A self-defeat occurs if an argument attacks itself either directly or indirectly via an odd attack loop, unless the loop is broken up by some argument attacking the loop from outside. Motivated by the fact that such arguments represent self-contradictory or paradoxical arguments, he asked for reasonable semantics which overcome the problem that such arguments may indeed invalidate any argument they attack. This paper tackles this problem from scratch. More precisely, instead of continuing to use previous concepts defined by Dung we provide new foundations for abstract argumentation, so-called weak admissibility and weak defense. After showing that these key concepts are compatible as in the classical case we introduce new versions of the classical Dung-style semantics including complete, preferred and grounded semantics. We provide a rigorous study of these new concepts including interrelationships as well as the relations to their Dung-style counterparts. The newly introduced semantics overcome the issue with self-defeating arguments, and they are semantically insensitive to syntactic deletions of self-attacking arguments, a special case of self-defeat.

A growing body of literature has highlighted the pivotal role of peer feedback in teaching and learning. However, a paucity of studies explore the trend of literature in this research area, particularly using a bibliometric approach. Therefore, this study was conducted to reveal the major trends in the research area and construct an intellectual landscape of the relevant studies in the field. Bibliometric details of a total of 276 research articles, published from 1985 to 2020 (August), were retrieved from the Scopus database for further analysis. In particular, the publication trend, the most productive countries, the most productive authors, the top ten source titles, and keyword used in the research area, were explored using bibliometric indicators. The rapid growth of publications on peer feedback was observed since 2010, with a sharp peak noted in 2019. Furthermore, writing context was found as the central focus of peer feedback research. Among others, three key themes that surfaced out of term-occurrence analysis included: impacts/effects of using peer feedback approach, sub-themes concerning peer feedback implementation, and peer feedback in writing context. Additionally, from the review of 30 top-cited publications, 3 prominent themes: effects of using peer feedback approach, effective or ineffective peer feedback, and potential challenges or issues in peer feedback implementation emerged. Based on the findings, this paper concludes with some recommended avenues for future research.

ABSTRACTMaterials science is a growing research area in Uruguay. In order to obtain a brief overview of the research done we collected information about research in this field. As a starting point, we searched in the Scopus database for the keywords: affiliation country: “Uruguay” and subject: “Materials Science” (using the “Timbó” platform). We inspected the records and we analyzed them to construct a timeline. The data show that we are in a steady state regime of number of publications that we expect to increase together with the number of students in the area, with the generation of long term policies (grants, funding opportunities), and, if we get involved in a community that promotes this area of interest.

This study brings novelty to the area of corporate distress modelling in Zimbabwe by exploring company-specific indicators of corporate distress, unlike most of the previous studies, which used financial performance indicators. Using a binary logistic regression on a time series dataset collated between 2010 and 2017, this study establishes book value, book value per share, average debt to equity and equity per share as very significant determinants of corporate distress on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE). Future studies incorporating artificial intelligence and a combination of both the traditional financial ratios and market-based indicators is recommended to expand the scope of the study.

The global financial crisis entails a renewed attention from financial institutions, academics, and practitioners to corporate distress analysis and its forecasting. This study aims to propose a model for predicting default risk based on a business failure index using rank transformation. The procedure suggested is able to capture firms’ financial difficulties and forecast bankruptcy through the construction of a failure index based on some relevant financial ratios. By means of the estimation of failure probability, it allows to classify and predict business distress in time to take mitigating action. This procedure is evaluated by some accuracy measures on a sample of Italian manufacturing firms, and is found to be a suitable instrument for preventing financial distress.
