Learning about the biology of the species is essential to the success of intensive farming. This study aimed to evaluate the semen of Thai tilapia during the four seasons of the year and thereby analyze their reproductive indices. Thus, 60 breeding males of Tilapia were used and were randomly divided into four water tanks and fed with isoproteic and isocaloric feed. The experiment lasted 12 months, starting from October 2014 and ending on September 2015. Thus, it was possible to collect sperm material of animals during the four seasons, twice a month, as well as to evaluate the water quality parameters in the tanks (temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen). The semen was evaluated from a light microscope in an increase of 100 x, then was activated with water. Motility was measured subjectively in the light microscope, as well as the percentage of sperm showing progressive motility. The duration was evaluated with the addition of a timer. For analysis of the morphology of the semen, the test consisted of morphopathology observation of 100 sperm focused in various fields throughout the slide in the light microscope. Once obtained, these data were analyzed through ANOVA and Tukey test as post-hoc analysis, with the help of the software R Statistics. Water quality factors (temperature, pH and2 dissolved) were acceptable and during the 12 month period the sperm of tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) had a good ability for fertilization, seen that it performed below the average of the percentage of critical abnormalities, and quality was perceived by the parameters that also influence fertilization (motility rate, duration of motility and vigor).

Objectives : In this study, the characteristics of stormwater runoff from agricultural nonpoint pollution sources investigated under various experimental conditions were evaluated among different land use types (e.g., paddy, field, field (alpine), and vinyl house), and event mean concentrations (EMCs) for each water quality parameter were statistically analyzed. These results can be used in calculating the contribution of stormwater runoff to water quality of receiving water body by performing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The unit loads calculated were compared with Ministry of Environment TMDL (2019) to secure the reliability of the calculated unit loads.Methods : EMCs and unit loads investigated in various studies were classified in terms of paddy, field, field (alpine), and vinyl house. Among various land use types, EMCs and unit loads were statistically analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. For EMCs, a null hypothesis is that ‘EMCs of water quality parameters among different land use types are not different at a statistically significant level (α=0.05)’. Based on the results of statistical analysis, heteroscedasticity (p<0.05) and Welch-test method were consequently applied, and post hoc test was performed using the Games-Howell method. Finally, unit loads was compared and reviewed against the TMDL (2019) unit loads of the Ministry of Environment.Results and Discussion : Various EMCs in all water quality parameters were found among different land use types (i.e., paddy, field, field (alpine) and vinyl house). For most water quality parameters, EMCs tended to decrease in the order of field (alpine) > field > vinyl house > paddy. The coefficient of variance (CV) values of all water q uality parameters were 0.5 or greater. Based on these results, EMCs in agricultural nonpoint source pollution are very diverse and deviated due to the combination of natural and artificial factors. Post hoc test results indicated different statistical significance among all water quality parameters. In addition to the land use types, both natural factors (i.e., season, rainfall, antecedent rainfall day, and, rainfall runoff rate) and artificial factors (i.e., cultivator manipulation, emission route, type of crop, and amount of compost) affect the characteristics of stormwater runoff. In particular, in the case of field (alpine) with prominent topographical feature of slope, and EMCs were statistically greater than those from other land use types in all water quality categories (p<0.05).Conclusions : Countermeasures for field (alpine)with greater EMCs than paddy, field and vinyl house, should be performed priority. EMCs were affected by a complex interaction between natural factors (i.e., season, rainfall, antecedent rainfall day, and, rainfall runoff rate) and artificial factors (i.e., cultivator manipulation, emission route, type of crop, and amount of compost), and additional data and research are required for further study to elucidate these complex interactions.

This paper analyzes water quality from four hydrological stations in the Nišava river basin from 2009–2018 based on the following parameters: pH, conductivity, O2 saturation, BOD5, suspended solids, total oxidized nitrogen, phosphates, turbidity and coliform bacteria. Authors have applied WQI (water quality index) as the most reliable indicator of the watercourses pollution for setting of surface water flow quality. Statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) using t-test inferential statistical analysis and post-hoc Tukey test were applied to evaluate statistically significant differences between specific data groups. The results show that bad water quality was registered on all the profiles on an annual basis (WQI = 65–71). The river water pH decreases downstream, while values of BOD5, suspended solids, turbidity, TON, phosphates and coliform bacteria gradually increase. The waters of the Nišava at the station Niš belong to the third class of waters and they are mostly loaded with organic matter originating from waste sewage and industrial waters of both urban and rural areas.

Certain water quality parameters are known to cause serious problems to fish, especially when they are living under intensive farming conditions. These problems range from discomfort of fish to heavy mortalities and factors, such as the fish species, the time and level of exposure and the synergic effect of other coexisting stressful conditions, play an important role. In addition, when these parameters are outside the preferable for each fish species range, they can induce stress to fish, compromising their immune system and making them vulnerable to many opportunistic pathogens. Oxygen is, probably, the main limiting factor under farming conditions and when its levels are below the preferable range for any fish species, many morphological, as well as physiological alterations develop. Increased levels of carbon dioxide in the water usually coexist with decreased levels of oxygen and can cause respiratory acidosis and nephrocalcinosis. The latter is characterized by the development of granulomas in many internal organs and urolithiasis. Ammonia usually causes problems under intensive farming conditions, especially when the wateris recirculated and the pH is high. Increased levels of ammonia in the water can cause extensive alterations in the gills and degenerative changes in the liver and kidney. Gas supersaturation of the water, depending on the level of saturation and the time of exposure, can result in the gas bubble disease. Formation of bubbles in the eyes, skin and gills and extensive necrotic areas inmany organs due to gas emboli are the main findings caused by this disease. Many contaminants in the water can, also, create serious problems to fish. Fin erosion, epidermal hyperplasia or papilloma and degenerative and necrotic alterations in many internalorgans are common findings observed in fish on many cases of water pollution. Many of the factors mentioned above, as well as others, such as nutrition and bad management, can result in abnormal development of the body offish, when exposed at their early life stages. Due to farming conditions, cultured fish tend to exhibit increased rate of body malformation compared to wild ones. Careful design of the facilities, use of specialized equipment and, probably, application of genetic selection program can minimize or even eliminate the effects these water parameters have on the cultured fish.

Water quality is the most critical factor affecting fish health and performance in aquaculture production systems. Fish life is mostly dependent on the water fishes live in for all their needs. Therefore, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the water quality requirements of the fish. This research discusses the critical water parameters (temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, and dissolved oxygen (DO)) for fisheries and reviews the existing sensors to detect those parameters. Moreover, this paper proposes a prospective solution for smart fisheries that will help to monitor water quality factors, make decisions based on the collected data, and adapt more quickly to changing conditions.

Algae bloom in the Tai Lake is a major issue and affects the water supply to the surrounding cities greatly. Chlorophyll a (Chl-a) is a common indicator that represent the trophic status in lakes. Spatial and temporal variations of Chl-a concentration are analyzed on the basis of sample data at 21 sites during the period of 2001 to 2005. Data at the sites located in the Meiliang Bay, Zhushan and Wulihu show greater fluctuations than that at other sites. A general trend showing that high values in northern part and low values in southern part of the Tai Lake is observed in seasonal mean values of Chl-a concentration for four seasons. Most high Chl-a concentrations occurred in summer (June to August) and autumn (September to November). Quantitative relationships between Chl-a and other water quality factors are investigated at all sites. Relative good relationships are obtained between Chl-a concentration and other water quality factors during 2001 to 2004 by using partial least squared regression. Prediction of Chl-a concentration in 2005 with above models produce worse results, which may be due to the occurrence of some extreme high values of Chl-a concentration in that year. Even though, acceptable predictions are obtained at several sites. Since the water quality in the lake is affected greatly by the inflow of nutrients from rivers, these relationships will be helpful for monitoring Chl-a variation with the combination of hydrological models that is able to simulate the inflow of nutrients.

Kota City is a prominent industrial and educational town of Rajasthan state, India. Mega industrial projects of cement, fertilizers, power plant, oil seed processing units are located nearby the city. The groundwater of study area is used in domestic as well as in industrial activities. It is worthwhile to know the water quality status and its effect on entity, which is exposed in practical use. A comprehensive assessment of water quality parameters in groundwater samples drawn from 24 different locations, 6 sites from each direction at outer skirts of Kota City of Rajasthan, India, in four seasons of years 2006 to 2008 was carried out. To find out the suitability and stability of water, various indices available to assess the scale formation and corrosivity was used. The Langelier saturation index (LSI) and Ryznar saturation index (RSI) were calculated and discussed with respect to saturation level.

A study was conducted to evaluate the water quality parameters of pond water at Mymensingh Urban region. The water samples were collected from 30 ponds located at Mymensingh Urban Region during August to October 2010. The chemical analyses of water samples included pH, EC, Na, K, Ca, S, Mn and As were done by standard methods. The chemical properties in pond water were found pH 6.68 to 7.14, EC 227 to 700 ?Scm-1, Na 15.57 to 36.00 ppm, K 3.83 to 16.16 ppm, Ca 2.01 to 7.29 ppm, S 1.61 to 4.67 ppm, Mn 0.33 to 0.684 ppm and As 0.0011 to 0.0059 ppm. The pH values of water samples revealed that water samples were acidic to slightly alkaline in nature. The EC value revealed that water samples were medium salinity except one sample and also good for irrigation. According to drinking water standard Mn toxicity was detected in pond water. Considering Na, Ca and S ions pond water was safe for irrigation and aquaculture. In case of K ion, all the samples were suitable for irrigation but unsuitable for aquaculture.J. Environ. The low level of water in rivers in Iraq leads to poor water quality, on that basis; we need to assess Iraq's water resources for uses of irrigation and drinking water. This study present a model accounts for ground water quality by using a water quality index (WQI) for the region defined between the city of Kut and the city of Badra in Wasit province. this study relies on a system of wells set up along the path through the Badra –Kut  and around it  up to 78 wells. The study showed poor quality of ground water in the region of study and it is unsuitability for irrigation and drinking water, as well as provided a solution to the water accumulated in the Shuwayja to reduce the bad effect on groundwater by using a system of branch and collection canals  then pumping at the effluent  of Al  Shuwayja in seasons of rainy season ..Water quality index calculated depend on the basis of various physic-chemical parameters as PH, Ec , TDS, TSS, Nacl , SO4 ,Na , and  Mg. The resultant and analytical are present with use of Arch GIS program – geostastical analysis for the water index and water quality parameters

Monitoring of environmental factors allows the achievement of some important objectives regarding water quality, forecasting, warning and intervention. The aim of this paper is to investigate water quality parameters in some potential pollutant sources from northern, southern and east-southern areas of Romania. Surface water quality data for some selected chemical parameters were collected and analyzed at different points from March to May 2017.
