DEM construction quality directly affects a variety of applications based on DEM and terrain analysis. Giving the error in measured data, interpolation methods affect the quality of DEM. Therefore, for a certain district, choosing a better interpolation method is very important. In this paper, we constructed new DEM by three interpolation methods (inverse distance weight, spline, Kriging) on the real DEM data of loess tableland. By comparing this new DEM with the original DEM and analyzing this new DEM, we can get a better choice of interpolation for DEM construction and terrain analysis for a certain district.

Abstract Acidification, as a form of soil degradation is a process that leads to permanent reduction in the quality of soil as the most important natural resource. The process of soil acidification, which in the first place implies a reduction in soil pH, can be caused by natural processes, but also considerably accelerated by the anthropogenic influence of excessive S and N emissions, uncontrolled deforestation, and intensive agricultural processes. Critical loads, i.e. the upper limit of harmful depositions (primarily of S and N) which will not cause damages to the ecosystem, were determined in Europe under the auspices of the Executive Committee of the CLRTAP in 1980. These values represent the basic indicators of ecosystem stability to the process of acidification. This paper defines the status of acidification for the period up to 2100 in relation to the long term critical and target loading of soil with S and N on the territory of Krupanj municipality by applying the VSD model. The Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) geostatistic module was used as the interpolation method. Land management, particularly in areas susceptible to acidification, needs to be focused on well-balanced agriculture and use of crops/seedlings to achieve the optimum land use and sustainable productivity for the projected 100-year period.

Abstract. As one of the most important meteorological elements, temperature is an indispensable meteorological parameter for the atmospheric correction of spaceborne LiDAR ranging. Given a limited number of surface meteorological observation stations, the temperature values for all region of LiDAR observation need to be interpolated using appropriate spatial interpolation methods. In this paper, based on the monthly surface observation values in individual years (1981–2010) of Sichuan province observation stations, we firstly analyze the effects of three common interpolation methods, including inverse distance weighting (IDW), ordinary kriging (OK) and gradient plus inverse distance squared (GIDS). To solve the problem of low interpolation accuracy in severely undulating terrain area, an improved gradient distance inverse square method based on the adiabatic lapse rate (GIDS-ALR) is proposed. The experimental results show that the GIDS-ALR has an obvious improvement in the effect of severely undulating terrain, where the absolute error has been improved by more than 43% in average. Additionally, the temperature-interpolated MAE is reduced by more than 30%. The effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method is verified in this paper.

Abstract: The geoid is an equipotential surface regarded as the altimetric reference for geodetic surveys and it therefore, has several practical applications for engineers. In recent decades the geodetic community has concentrated efforts on the development of highly accurate geoid models through modern techniques. These models are supplied through regular grids which users need to make interpolations. Yet, little information can be obtained regarding the most appropriate interpolation method to extract information from the regular grid of geoidal models. The use of an interpolator that does not represent the geoid surface appropriately can impair the quality of geoid undulations and consequently the height transformation. This work aims to quantify the magnitude of error that comes from a regular mesh of geoid models. The analysis consisted of performing a comparison between the interpolation of the MAPGEO2015 program and three interpolation methods: bilinear, cubic spline and neural networks Radial Basis Function. As a result of the experiments, it was concluded that 2.5 cm of the 18 cm error of the MAPGEO2015 validation is caused by the use of interpolations in the 5'x5' grid.

AbstractWe prove a complex formulation of the real interpolation method, showing that the real and complex interpolation methods are not inherently real or complex. Using this complex formulation, we prove Stein interpolation for the real interpolation method. We apply this theorem to interpolate weighted $$L^p$$ L p -spaces and the sectoriality of closed operators with the real interpolation method.

The aim of the study was to determine the usefulness of spatial data interpolation methods in analyses of the odour impact of animal husbandry facilities. The interpolation methods of data obtained from measurements using the field olfactometry technique were the ordinary kriging method (OK) and the inverse distance weighted method (IDW). The quality of the analyses that have been obtained indicates the potentially better use of the OK method in the presentation of spatial odour concentration distributions.

Background. Several studies have demonstrated that chromium (Cr) and cadmium (Cd) have adverse impacts on the environment and human health. These elements are present in electronic waste (e-waste) recycling sites. Several interpolation methods have been used to evaluate geographical impacts on humans and the environment. Objectives. The aim of the present paper is to compare the accuracy of inverse distance weighting (IDW) and ordinary kriging (OK) in topsoil analysis of e-waste recycling sites in Douala, Cameroon. Methods. Selecting the proper spatial interpolation method is crucial for carrying out surface analysis. Ordinary kriging and IDW are interpolation methods used for spatial analysis and surface mapping. Two sets of samples were used and compared. The performances of interpolation methods were evaluated and compared using cross-validation. Results. The results showed that the OK method performed better than IDW prediction for the spatial distribution of Cr, but the two interpolation methods had the same result for Cd (in the first set of samples). Results from Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests showed that the data were normally distributed in the study area. The p value (0.302 and 0.773) was greater than 0.05 for Cr and for Cd (0.267 and 0.712). In the second set of samples, the OK method results (for Cd and Cr) were greatly diminished and the concentrations dropped, looking more like an average on the maps. However, the IDW interpolation gave a better representation of the concentration of Cd and Cr on the maps of the study area. For the second set of samples, OK and IDW for Cd and Cr had more similar results, especially in terms of root mean square error (RMSE). Conclusions. Many parameters were better identified from the RMSE statistic obtained from cross-validation after exhaustive testing. Inverse distance weighting appeared more adequate in limited urban areas. In this article, to handle data exchange between different grid systems efficiently and accuracy, the accuracy of inverse distance weighted average method is researched by different searching radius and exponent parameter. The result is compared with other two interpolation methods, radial basis function interpolation and local triangular projection method. The result shows that the search radius and exponential parameter of inverse distance weighted average interpolation method have not significant influence on interpolation result when radius is large.

CFG pile has been widely applied as one of the common ground treatment techniques. As a concealed work, the construction quality of pile foundation not only relates to the success of the project, but also concerns the benefits of thousands of households. Only strengthening the supervision and management during the construction and strictly designing and specifying CFG pile can ensure the construction quality of CFG pile. But most researches focus on operating mechanism and theoretical analysis, and there are fewer researches about the construction of CFG pile. The real construction of CFG pile has no specified operation and lacks of the construction guidance, which not only causes great problems and has great influence on the intensity of CFG pile, but also makes the real pile body have great difference from the design requirements. Therefore, the study on construction of CFG pile in the paper has great significance.
