A Hierarchical Multicast Scheme for Heterogeneous Receivers

We investigate inter-session network coding for networks with heterogeneous receivers in this paper. Based on layered source coding, we define the hierarchical inter-layer random network codes, and propose a hierarchical multicast scheme. Moreover, we compare our hierarchical multicast scheme with the layered multicast schemes in theory and with simulations. Simulation results show that our hierarchical multicast scheme can achieve the optimal aggregate throughput for some networks where the layered multicast schemes are suboptimal.

In wireless Ad Hoc networks, the combination of cooperative communication and network coding is an effective technique to improve the efficiency of retransmission. In most literature, nodes cooperated not fully, only as a relay, and XOR or random network coding had some shortage, such as, it was NP-Hard to achieve optimal coding strategy, can't ensure all lost packets can be encoded and the coding matrix must be full rank. This paper proposes a retransmission scheme called CRNCF. In this scheme, nodes cooperated sufficient, and used Fourier matrix's element as coding coefficient which can guarantee the solvability of receiving node, and packet's head only contain the row number of matrix. Simulation results show that CRNCF can improve the performance of the retransmission in aspects of throughput, security, collision probability, and cost of packet‘s head than other schemes.

A data Publish/Subscribe method with network coding (DPS-NC) used in delay tolerant network is proposed. Based on the publish/subscribe mechanism, the topic data were encoded and transmit with random network coding method, which can take full advantage of the network capacity to multicast. At the same time, for working out the problem of large data redundancy and vast invalid de-liveries in the network coding broadcast process, a packet routing scheme based on ant colony algorithm was brought. In the end, some simulation experiments are carried out and results show that the DPS-NC method can get better delivery performance.
