According to LPC Bituminous Mixtures Design Guide, performance of several kinds of additives for high modulus asphalt mixture is evaluated by tests. It has done performance comparison among AC20, Sup20 and EME20 using AH70# asphalt. The results show that high modulus asphalt mixture EME2 has high temperature stability and anti-fatigue capability. The testing results in the article had proved that the existing China-made additives can also meet the requirement of High Modulus Asphalt Concrete (HMAC). The mix design of AC20 and Sup20 was done according to LPC Bituminous Mixtures Design Guide, test results are basically the same as EME20 and meet the design requirement. So it can consider using HMAC which satisfies China’s requirement in China.

In order to discuss the effectiveness of basalt fiber in reinforcing pavement performance of asphalt mixtures, the pavement performances of basalt fiber asphalt mixtures were investigated by tests of high temperature stability, water stability and low temperature crack resistance, and compared with the pavement performance of asphalt mixtures with polyester fiber and xylogen fiber, and that of reference mixture. The results show that pavement performance of fiber asphalt mixture are improved and optimized comparing with reference asphalt mixture, the performance of asphalt mixture with basalt fiber are excelled than those with polyester fiber and xylogen fiber while the dosage of fibers is keeping at the optimum.

In order to find a convenient approach to design the mix of rubberized asphalt concrete (RAC) and make full use of the properties of RAC, a kind of RAC-13 (13 is the nominal maximum aggregate size of the mixture) was designed by means of coarse aggregate void filling method (CAVF). A series of conventional tests of asphalt mixture with five asphalt-rubber aggregate ratio(ARAR) were carried out to check the target mix design and evaluate the performance of RAC. Performance evaluation tests such as Marshall and submerged Marshall stability test, moisture damage test and wheel tracking test were included. Test results show that the high temperature stability, moisture susceptibility and road performance of RAC-13 designed with CAVF method are all favorable. The recommended optimum asphalt-rubber aggregate ratio(OARAR) is 7.1% under the condition of skeleton structure. CAVF is a good means for designing RAC to ensure its stone-on-stone contact structure.

In order to deeply reveal the high temperature stability of asphalt mixture, rutting test was implemented to evaluate the high temperature stability of asphalt mixture, and the evaluation index is dynamic stability. The effect of asphalt type, degree of compaction, gradation type and nominal maximum aggregate size on rutting test results was studied respectively. The results showed that: modified asphalt can improve the high temperature stability of asphalt mixture effectively; the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture reduces gradually with decrease of the degree of compaction; the anti-rutting performance of SAC-16 is greater than that of AC-16; and the anti-rutting performance of asphalt mixture is improved with increase of the nominal size of aggregate.

This paper selects three different fibers: short-cut mineral fiber, mineral cotton fiber and lignin fiber, through the laboratory test to analysis the homogeneity and way-use performance of fiber SMA. Contrast test results show that the homogeneity of adding mineral cotton fiber and lignin fiber of SMA mixture is nearly at the same degree, which are all better than adding short-cut mineral fiber. Adding short-cut mineral fiber with SMA has poor water stability, but the high temperature stability is the best; At the same time, the homogeneity of the fiber asphalt mixture in this paper has a certain effect with the road performance, but impacts little with the absolute value of it.

This paper used the method of spread the broken glass and light-colored stone into the asphalt mixture, then rolling to compact, to increase the brightness of the asphalt pavement in highway tunnel. Through a series of tests, we have studied the performance of the light-colored asphalt pavement, including high temperature stability, anti-sliding performance, impermeability, bond performance and the light-colored performance. Experimental studies have shown that the anti-sliding performance, high temperature stability will be lower slightly compared to ordinary asphalt concrete. Its impermeability has increased. The light-colored performance is better. At the same time, after the analysis of the experimental results we know that the improvement of light-colored performance is not only effected by the dosage of the materials, but also has a great relationship with the particle size. In general, the smaller the particle size of the materials joined, the more apparent the light-colored performance improved.

According to high temperature weak stability of common asphalt mixture, rutting tests of diatomite modified asphalt mixture, modified lake asphalt mixture, modified rock asphalt mixture and common asphalt mixture are carried out. Changes of dynamic stability for common asphalt mixture compared with modified asphalt mixtures are comparatively analysed. The results show that compared with common asphalt mixture, rutting resistances of diatomite modified asphalt mixture, modified lake asphalt mixture and modified rock asphalt mixture are greatly improved. It is proposed that those kinds of modified asphalt mixture are adopted in asphalt pavement of large longitudinal slope section.

This paper summaries the characteristic of French high modulus asphalt mixture (EME2), does a full set of performance evaluation through French test methods specified in LPC Bituminous Mixtures Design Guide and current test methods in China, and puts forward the preliminary recommendation of French high modulus asphalt mixture (EME2) application in China. It will provide technical reference to help to develop market of the French high modulus asphalt mixture (EME2) application in China and propose a new road building material for the construction of our highway.

Using SBR and epoxy to modified warm-mix asphalt, the penetrability, ductility, softening point of bitumen at different aging times are tested, the comparative analysis of the modified effects of two modified agents to the asphalt mixture is made; Construction temperature of asphalt is determined by using temperature - porosity curve; The results reflect epoxy resin and SBR can improve the high temperature stability and anti moisture infringement capacity, so propose to use warm mix asphalt concrete for the top layer except in special sections layer.

Abstract In order to study the road performance of asphalt mixture with different kinds of iron waste ore , stripping waste rock rich in iron trioxide and stripping waste rock rich in iron oxide are used as aggregate to make the mixture.Through the test comparison, it is confirmed that the dynamic stability performance of asphalt concrete mixture mixed with iron trioxide mining and stripping waste rock is the best, namely its high temperature stability is best; followed by the one mixed with waste rock rich in iron trioxide. The residue stability of asphalt concrete mixed with mining and stripping waste rock increases obviously. It can found from the experiments that the residual stability can be up to 94.96% which kinds of asphalt mixture with waste rock rich in iron trioxide. Asphalt mixture mixed with stripping waste rock has a better anti-sliding performance than the common one, among which the one mixed with aggregates rich in iron trioxide is the best. Through tectonic depth, it is reflected that it also has a better performance on drainage noise reduction. In conclusion, using mining and stripping waste rock instead of mining gravel has a good economic efficiency,but also solved the problem of mining and stripping waste rock accumulation.

This paper presents a laboratory test to characterize the pavement performance of asphalt mixture containing polyolefin/ethylene copolymer modifier. The modifier is directly added into mixture like aggregates and is not necessary to modify the asphalt binder firstly, which is different with conventional modifier and is so-called dry process. Based on the aggregate grade of AC-13 mixture, the mechanical properties of polyolefin/ethylene copolymer modified hot mixtures asphalt (dry process) were studied by experimental tests, which include the high-temperature stability and water stability. The test results indicate that compared to the SBS asphalt mixture the dynamic stability and TSR improved 66% and 2.3% respectively, when the addition of RK300 is 0.3%.
