Menarche and Menopause are the two important landmarks of reproductive life cycle of woman's life. Menopause is the most significant event that brings physical and mental transformation in the body. It is a natural phenomenon occurs at the age 45-55 years. This phase is associated with manifestation of aging process along with other symptoms such as irregular menstruation, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, urinary problems, changes in appearance, GIT related problems, mood swings, sleep disturbances, palpitations, changes in sexual desire, osteoporosis, heart disease. The group of signs and symptoms associated with the menopausal phase are termed as menopausal syndrome. In Ayurvedic classics, Menopause is the termed as ‘Rajonivrutti’ and menopausal syndrome as ‘Rajonivrutti anubandhaja vyadhies’. Acharyas described as it is normal physiological state. In Ayurveda, Menopausal symptoms are regarded as imbalance of the Tridosha, Dhatukshaya and disturbance in Agni which occurs naturally as consequence of aging process. Modern medicine treat this condition with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) which results in various complications, but it is effective therapy for a short term use. Considering the limitations of treatment with modern medicine, Ayurveda provides excellent solution & effective medicament for transition period i.e. menopause. Ayurvedic treatment for menopause involves correcting hormonal imbalance with proper diet, lifestyle modification, Shamana, Shodhan chikitsa, Rasayan therapy.

Oncological diseases, due to the still increasing morbidity and mortality, are one of the main problems of modern medicine. Cancer of the mammary gland is the most common cancer among women around the world, and is the second cause of cancer deaths in this group, immediately after lung cancer. This kind of cancer belongs to an estrogen-dependent cancer, with proven associations with hormonal disorders in the body, occurring especially in the perimenopausal period and among women using hormone replacement therapy, as well as a result of the action of various xenobiotics that may interact with the estrogen receptor. Hormone steroids are widely used in medicine and their side effects are constantly discussed. The role of these compounds and their metabolites in maintaining hormonal balance is well understood, while many studies indicate the possible contribution of these steroids in the progression of the cancer process, especially in mammary gland tissue. Therefore, the genotoxic action of this group of compounds is still studied. Due to the limited number of scientific reports, the aim of this paper was to review and critically analyze data from the literature regarding the participation of estrogens (17β-estradiol) and their metabolites (2-methoxy estradiol, 4-hydroxy estradiol, 16α-hydroxyestrone) in the induction of carcinogenesis in mammary gland, in particular concerning the genotoxic activity of 17β-estradiol metabolites.

Introduction: Aging is a natural phenomenon that is caused by changes in the cells of the body. Theoretically, aging starts from birth and lasts throughout life. These changes affect the function of the cells. Also, in old tissues, the capacity for homeostasis and tissue repair is decline due to destructive changes in specific tissue stem cells, niche of stem cells and systemic factors that regulate stem cell activity. Understanding molecular pathways that disrupt stem cell function during aging is crucial for the development of new treatments for aging-associated diseases. In this article, the symptoms of stem cell aging and the key molecular pathways that are commonly used for the aging of stem cells were discussed. We will consider experimental evidence for all of the mechanisms and evaluate the way that can slow down or even stop the aging process. Finally, we will look at the aging process of three types of stem cells.

Ayurveda is the science of living being. It begins with right lifestyle including daily and seasonal health regime designed for each individual based upon their nature, constitution, environment and life circumstances. Madhumeha is the subtype of Prameha. Due to resemblance of the feature of Madhumeha with that of DM explained in modern medicine, it is correlated with DM. According to WHO approximately 220 million people worldwide have type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is widely recognized that stress may have negative effects on health and that patients with type 2 diabetes may be at an increased risk. Yoga is an ancient Indian psychological and physical exercise regime and a number of controlled studies exist on the effectiveness of yoga on diabetes mellitus. Yogic practices strengthen and increase the tone of weak muscles and help with conscious control over autonomic function of the body. So, the present study on the role of Yogaabhyas as a lifestyle modification in Madhumeha. Keywords: Madhumeha, type 2 diabetes, asana in diabetes

The problem of morbidity and mortality due to infectious lesions of the respiratory tract, in particular nosocomial pneumonia, remain one of the most pressing problems of modern medicine. Nosocomial pneumonia ranks 3rd among all infectious diseases that a patient can contract at a medical institution after urinary and wound inflammation and it is characterized by high mortality. Nosocomial pneumonia is provoked by antibiotic-resistant microorganisms; in the intensive care patients, it is complicated by the re-aspiration of bacteria that accumulate above the cuff of the intubation tube. Identification of nosocomial and community-acquired pneumonia involves a particular flora of pathogens and, accordingly, involves empiric therapy. Routine analysis of sputum according to Gram gives approximate data, which is a clarification for empiric treatment. We present a clinical case, which demonstrates that infection is also possible due to contact of a family member with another one, working at a medical institution. Therefore, in our clinical case, we emphasize that it is very important to collect a thorough history. Careful collection of medical history can provide additional information: working in a team, being a medical professional, relatives working at a medical institution. It should be noted that in this category of patients, the causative agent of infection, including nosocomial pneumonia, may be the strains of nosocomial microorganisms. Regardless of age, we recommend the use of preventive measures (lifestyle modification, acclimatization training, sports, etc.) to increase the non-specific resistance of the body. As a preventive measure, medical personnel should follow the regimes of ventilation and wet cleaning in the premises, wash their hands and rinse their nasal passages as often as possible with saline solutions, use a mask to protect the respiratory organs, disinfect hands with alcohol.

Blood pressure is one of the critical indicators of a person's physiological state. This indicator and the pulse reflect the state of the cardiovascular system. Their values can directly or indirectly determine the presence of diseases of the heart and blood vessels, and other organs. Therefore, determination of blood pressure among people of different levels of health is an urgent task of modern medicine. The aim of the work: hygienic assessment and monitoring of blood pressure in medical students smoking e-cigarettes. Materials and methods: Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the level of systolic, diastolic pressure, mean arterial and pulse pressure in medical students aged 18-23 years, before and after smoking e-cigarettes was carried out. Results: The findings of the study fully reflect the importance of tonometry. Thus, the level of systolic blood pressure increased after 10 minutes by an average of 7.7%, but after 50 minutes returned to optimal value. The level of diastolic blood pressure increased after 10 minutes by an average of 8.8%, but after 50 minutes – an increase of 4%. Conclusions: This type of changes in the short period are not critical, as the body’ compensatory mechanisms stabilize hemodynamic parameters, but daily smoking can lead to the development of COPD, as well as pathology of the cardiovascular system, including myocardial ischemia or heart failure. Therefore, smoking e-cigarettes cannot be attributed to a harmless type of habit.

Aging is an inevitable and complex natural phenomenon due to the increase in age. Cellular senescence means a non-proliferative but viable cellular physiological state. It is the basis of aging, and it exists in the body at any time point. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is an interstitial fibrous lung disease with unknown etiology, characterized by irreversible destruction of lung structure and function. Aging is one of the most critical risk factors for IPF, and extensive epidemiological data confirms IPF as an aging-related disease. Senescent fibroblasts in IPF show abnormal activation, telomere shortening, metabolic reprogramming, mitochondrial dysfunction, apoptosis resistance, autophagy deficiency, and senescence-associated secretory phenotypes (SASP). These characteristics of senescent fibroblasts establish a close link between cellular senescence and IPF. The treatment of senescence-related molecules and pathways is continually emerging, and using senolytics eliminating senescent fibroblasts is also actively tried as a new therapy for IPF. In this review, we discuss the roles of aging and cellular senescence in IPF. In particular, we summarize the signaling pathways through which senescent fibroblasts influence the occurrence and development of IPF. On this basis, we further talk about the current treatment ideas, hoping this paper can be used as a helpful reference for future researches.

Menopause, a phenomenon unique to women, is the ending of a woman’s monthly menstrual period and ovulation. It, alongside, several other changes in the bodyand mind, brought in due to a decline in the amount of the hormones estrogen and progesterone being produced by the body. Menopause is, occasionally, viewed as an end to youth and sexuality, making it a socially unacceptable occurrence. Menopause, though,one of the important physical and mental milestones in a woman’s life, many women lack information about what is taking place and what are their options. There comes the role of Ayurveda , in Ayurveda literature there is no detailed description of Rajonivrittior menopause except the age of Rajonivrittiis given as 50 years. Ayurveda involves a holistic physiological system based on balance, with its cardinal doctrine of human physiology being constituted by “vata”, “pitta” and “kapha”. In modern medicine the only treatment for these symptoms is Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is not a long-term therapy to be given as it has side effects on the overall health of the women. In Ayurveda Dhatu kshaya can be treated with Rasayanatherapy and other symptoms of hypo-estrogenic conditions can be treated with Phytoestrogens. So, Ayurveda gives a non-hormonal and cost-effective treatment for Rajonivrittior Menopause.

One of the most pressing problems is the onset of menopause in the women over the age of 45 and the development of menopausal syndrome. Because a large number of women with severe menopausal symptoms does not receive adequate therapy and applies for the alternative ineffective ways to alleviate the condition, they should be informed about preventive measures and treatment of this syndrome. The paper describes in details the disorders that occur during menopause. Particular attention is paid to the examination of such women, the study of complaints related to the nervous and cardiovascular systems, urogenital tract, metabolic processes. In addition to the general examination, special methods are used as follows: ultrasound, cytological examination of secretions from the surface of the cervix, cervical canal. If necessary, in women with cyclic bleeding, an endometrial biopsy is performed with a biopsy. In recent years, hormone replacement therapy has been widely used to treat menopausal syndrome as the most effective way to prevent disorders (osteoporosis, atrophy of the urogenital tract, etc.). The purpose of its implementation is to maintain the function of hormone−producing organs in a normal state, reduce the expression of symptoms, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Treatment is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Only natural estrogens are used, which are chemically similar to those synthesized in the female body. In order to prevent the development of hyperplastic processes in the endometrium, the women are prescribed with progestins in a cyclic or continuous mode from several months to several years. Hormone replacement therapy will help a woman to avoid the negative effects of estrogen deficiency on the body, maintain bone density and cardiovascular health, as well as improve overall quality of life. Background: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic disease characterized by widespread body pain, weakness in certain parts of the body (critical points), low pain tolerance, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. This syndrome is considered rare in Jordan. Objectives: The research aimed to find out the association of the angiotensin converting enzyme, methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, and vitamin D receptor (ACE, MHFTR, and VDR, respectively) genotypes with FMS among Jordanian patients. Methods: This work included 22 FM patients and 22 healthy individuals of Jordanian Arabic origin. The ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 genotypes were determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction fragment length polymorphism. Results: No associations between ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 with the vulnerability of a person for the development of FMS were found. However, we found an association between the ACE rs4646994 genotype and restless leg among FM patients. Conclusion: Based on result from this study, it appears that the ACE rs4646994 genotype is associated with restless leg among FMS patients of Jordanian origin. Further clinical investigations with larger sample sizes are required to confirm these findings and to understand the molecular mechanism of ACE rs4646994 genetic variant in the restless leg syndrome among FM patients.

Difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath may be simply termed as Shwasa (Asthma), As per Ayurveda, Shwasa is mainly caused by the Vata and Kapha Doshas. Shwasa is broadly classified into five types in Maha Shwasa (Dyspnoea major), Urdhawa Shwasa (Expiratory Dyspnoea), Chinna Shwasa (Chyne-stroke respiration), Kshudra Shwasa (Dyspnoea minor), Tamaka Shwasa (Bronchial Asthma). In modern science Tamaka Shwasa can be correlated with Asthma, Asthma which is a chronic inflammatory disease of airway. In modern medicine there is no cure for Asthma, symptoms can typically be improved. In Ayurveda, Asthma can be effectively and safely manage the condition without inducing any drug dependency where Pachakarma procedures and use of internal medication detoxifies the body, provides nutrition and increases the elasticity of lung tissue it also develops natural immunity of the body thus decreasing episodic recurrence of the disease.
