The NIPSC Library is currently using manual-based in keeping the theses and dissertation in order to save more time and easy way of finding related literature, an alternative solution to solve the current problem was developed. The “Theses and Dissertations Abstract E-Archiving System with SMS Support”, a system provides borrowers with real-time information in finding related literature. The architectural design used in this system is N-tier architecture. Since it is connected to the Local Area Network inside the library, the researchers can easily access the resources in wired and wireless network to help the Librarians and the researchers inside and outside the library to access the electronic archiving, the collections of abstract theses and dissertations in wired and wireless network to view, download in jpeg format for the protection of copyright and IPR law which can be printed in real-time. The developed Theses and Dissertations Abstract E-Archiving System with SMS Support was based on the result and findings of surveys, electronic archiving of theses and dissertations were accessible just in time, the developed system can perform its required functions efficiently while sharing a common environment and resources without detrimental the impact on any other product.

The School of Institute of Information and Computer Studies is facing a problem in the submission of the documents every end of the academic year which are requirements of the Director of the IICS before signing the clearance of its faculty members. In order to fast-track the submission of the documents, an alternative solution to solve the current problem was developed, to be known as the “e-Document Archiving System with SMS Support”. Descriptive research design was used to determine whether the objectives of the study were achieved while Developmental research design was used for the developed of the software. The architectural design used in this system was n-tier architecture. Since the developed system will be deployed into local area network connecting office the IICS building, the concerned faculty where can upload and archived documents electronically. The Director could simple download and print documents in real time. A Short Message Service (SMS) Support, was also be used, as additional feature which would play a vital role as a communicating tool, that enables to send notification to concerned faculty members particularly, which required documents and deadline of submission. Based on the result and findings, uploading and downloading of required documents were accessible in real time. The usability of the feature of the developed system was operational and accessible with effectiveness and efficiency, and the performance was appropriate for the need of the users.

The performance of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is highly dependent on the processes that are implemented in the Medium Access Control (MAC) sublayer regulated by the IEEE 802.11 standard. In turn, various parameters affect the performance of the MAC sublayer, the most important of which is the number of stations in the network and the offered load. With the massive growth of multimedia traffic, research of the network performance depending on traffic types is relevant. In this paper, we present the impact of a high-/low-priority traffic ratio on WLAN performance with different numbers of access categories. The simulation results show different impact of high-/low-priority traffic ratio on the performance of the MAC sublayer of wireless LANs depending on different network-sizes and on network conditions. Performance of the large network with two access categories and with the prevalent high-priority traffic is significantly higher than in the case of using four categories on the MAC sublayer. This allows us to conclude that the performance improvement of the large network with the prevalent high-priority traffic can be achieved by an adaptive adjustment of the access categories number on the MAC sublayer.

Abstract This paper presents the design, simulation and fabrication of a miniaturized wearable dual-band antenna on a semi-flex substrate; she is operable at 2.45/5.8 GHz for wireless local area network applications. The electrical and radiation characteristics of this proposed antenna were obtained by means of a technical of insertion of a slot to tune the operating frequencies. To study the impact of the electromagnetic radiation of the structure of the human body, it is necessary to minimize the back radiation towards the user. Therefore, in this work, a multi-band artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) was placed directly above a dual-band planar inverted F antenna to achieve a miniaturization with excellent radiation performance. The simulation results were designed and simulated using Studio commercial software (CST). A good agreement was achieved between the results of simulation and the experimental. The Comparison of measurement results indicates that the gain improved from 1,84 dB to 3,8 dB, in the lower band, and from 2,4 dB to 4,1 in the upper band, when the antenna is backed by the AMC plane. The front-to-back ratio of the AMC backed PIFA antenna was also enhanced. Then, to ensure that the proposed AMC is harmless to the human body, this prototype was placed on three-layer human tissue cubic model. It was observed that the through inclusion of plane AMC, the peak specific absorption rate (SAR) decreased to 1,45 and 1,1 W/kg at 2,45 and 5.8 GHz, respectively (a reduction of around 3,7 W/kg, compared with an antenna without (AMC).

In order to meet the real-time demands of some equipment networked test, the time synchronization techniques of ATS based traditional instrument buses are compared with the techniques of LXI ATS. Accordingly,the necessity of LXI ATS time synchronization technique study is put forward. The sorts of time synchronization techniques based on Local Area Network are analyzed. In addition, some methods which could improve the level of LXI data real-time communications are presented. Afterwards, technique realizations of PTP are studied in detail. Local Area Network techniques and IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol are adopted in the LXI Automatic Test System which designed in the paper, and the level of time synchronization precision in the system is improved.

Abstract Aim The objective of this report is to describe the implementation and pilot-test of an integrated wireless local area network (WLAN) system that incorporated the Planmeca Promax® CCD based digital panoramic/ cephalometric x-ray system, Dolphin® software, and multiple remote user units to increase the efficiency of data management by the residents in the Department of Orthodontics. Background The Department of Orthodontics of the New Jersey Dental School (NJDS) acquired the Dolphin® cephalometric analysis software and the Planmeca Promax® digital panoramic/cephalometric x-ray units on separate occasions. Dolphin has been in use for many years at this institution, the current version being 10, and the Promax was acquired in the Fall of 2002. The digital panoramic and cephalometric radiographs were acquired and stored separately in the Planmeca's Dimaxis database. Report During the incorporation of the WLAN, there was an opportunity to research and install the best available security system for the WLAN so it could be a network model for the other departments within the dental school and perhaps other dental schools around the nation. Summary Digital radiographs, once obtained, can be stored locally or transmitted securely to remote locations via a local area network. This article describes the selection criteria and methodology that would optimize the transmission and retrieval of such images instantaneously on demand at chair side locations. During last few years avionics system research platform was invented at the Military University of Technology. This modular simulator allows user to design and verify avionics system software using hardware-in-the-loop technique. Mathematical model of an airplane under tests is implemented on a high-performance computer which response to all control signals and environmental disturbances. Environment is simulated on a separate computer which can also visualize orientation and movement of the airplane. Plane structure and aerodynamic features as well as control data can be modified accordingly to user needs. The third PC is used as an interface unit between research platform and main computational unit of the avionics system. This device can send and receive information in real-time using various data protocols and interfaces depending on sensors and actuators that are planned to be used in real system. Those three computers work in a local area network and exchange data using Gigabit Ethernet standard. Possibility to simulate behavior of an UAV controlled by the developed avionics system implemented on an embedded computer working in hardware-in-the-loop mode on the platform, allows software developer to debug any part of the application in various environment conditions very close to reality. Research platform gives also the possibility to modify algorithm and adjust its parameters in real-time to verify suitability of the implemented avionics system software for the particular UAV. The avionics system software developed using this simulation method minimize expensive in-flight tests and assure failsafe performance after first successful flight

This article discusses the stages of development, characteristics of a wireless local area network Wi-Fi, options for its topology and equipment used. Currently, there are such different types of wireless networks as Wireless Wide Area Network, Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (Wireless Neighborhood Area Network), Wireless Local Area Network, Wireless Personal Area Network. Each of the listed wireless networks has its own specific range and application. Wireless LAN Wi-Fi refers to the Wireless Local Area Network. The first wireless LAN standard, Wi-Fi, was approved in 1997. From the moment of their appearance to the present day, the following standards of this network have appeared: 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, 802.11ad, 802.11ax. For each standard, the speeds and frequency ranges at which the data transmission was carried out are indicated, and the technologies on which they are built are described. Wireless LAN Wi-Fi has three topologies: 1) Ad-Hoc (point-to-point) or Independent Basic Service Set; 2) Basic Service Set (“client / server”) and 3) Extended Service Set (“extended service areas”). To build a Wi-Fi network, network adapters, access points, routers, ADSL modems, Wi-Fi phones, Wi-Fi antennas, Wi-Fi repeaters are used. Wi-Fi adapters are used by devices that do not have a built-in Wi-Fi module. Wi-Fi access points are designed for organizing wireless access within a local network. Wi-Fi routers are designed to route traffic on a computer network. ADSL modems are used to access the Internet over a telephone line. Wi-Fi repeaters are used to expand the coverage of a wireless network using already installed equipment. Wi-Fi phones are wireless IP phones. Wi-Fi antennas are used to extend the range of a wireless network.

It is often difficult to motivate students to learn local area network (LAN) design because many students appear to find the subject rather dry, technical and boring. To overcome this problem the author has developed a software tool (named LAN-Designer) that gives students an interactive learning experience in LAN design concepts. The LAN-Designer is suitable for classroom use in introductory computer networking courses. This chapter describes LAN-Designer and its effectiveness in teaching and learning LAN design. The effectiveness of LAN-designer has been evaluated both formally by students and informally in discussion within the teaching team. The feedback from students indicates that the development and implementation of LAN-Designer were successful. It also discusses the impact of LAN-Designer on student learning and comprehension.
