Abstract. The gender gap in female participation in decision-making positions is evident in sports organizations. The boards of directors of Chilean sports federations are no strangers to this situation. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine barriers, facilitators and strategies that influence the participation and development of women in managerial positions in Chilean Sports Federations. The method was qualitative with a descriptive approach and the technique was the personal interview through the application of a semi-structured script of questions. During October and November 2020, virtual interviews were conducted with women who were members of the boards of directors of sports federations. The analysis was carried out through categories of analysis and coding using Atlas. Ti. The barriers identified are associated with family situations such as caring for family members. The existence of prejudices associated with gender stereotypes in the functions performed, underestimation of women's opinions and the development of positions in masculinized environments that make women invisible are also recognized. Family support is identified as facilitating agents, having a profession, work experience and training in sports management, together with some aspects of the leaders' personalities. As strategies, the need for a cultural change within the federations regarding women's participation, the implementation of participation quotas by gender and the development of leadership training programs for women were identified.

Abstract. The presence of women in the workplace is greater every day, however the gender roles and stereotypes that prevail in our society prevent their full professional development especially in professions such as Engineering that has been considered as male. Their minority position promotes these women to be considered tokens or women alibis, vases, showcases or symbols. This phenomenon of “tokenism” (Kanter, 1977) refers to one of the ways in which the organization’s resistance to the inclusion of women and the establishment of “real equality” over belief that equality exists only with its presence. The present research*** is framed in the qualitative paradigm; the semi-structured interview was used to collect data and had as objective to analyze the gender stereotypes in the labor field in male professions, specifically in the case of Mechanical Electrical Engineers (MEEs). The key informants were MEEs graduated from the Universidad Autónoma of San Luis Potosí (UASLP) with work experience related to their profession. The results show that women who choose male professions, such as MEEs, face a series of barriers that hinder their professional development. One of these barriers is the phenomenon of “tokenism”, which causes women to face conditions that impede their professional development such as: high visibility, because they are unique subjects within their work environment; Polarization, when excluded or discriminated against certain areas, activities or tasks; And assimilation, in which the characteristics of women, are distorted to fit preconceived ideas (Simpson, 2004) about their sex. Keywords: gender roles and stereotypes, engineering, discrimination, exclusion, tokenism.

In the last decades, though, there have been important advances towards the definition and prosecution of rape as a crime against international humanitarian law. Notwithstanding, more effective measures are needed to protect women from this heinous crime in the conflict zones and post-conflict. This article stresses the need to keep struggling for gender equality and improving women’s participation in decision making processes to achieve peace and stability</p>

AbstractThis study aims to analyse the legal decision-making process in the Community of Valencia (Spain) regarding contentious divorces particularly with respect to parental authority (patria potestas), custody and visiting arrangements for children, and the opinions of mothers and fathers on the impact these judicial measures have had on their lives. It also considers the biases in these decisions produced by privileging the rights of the adults over those of the children. Three particular moments are studied: (1) the situation before the break-up, focusing on the invisible gender gap in care; (2) the judicial process, where we observe the impact of hidden gender-based violence and gender stereotypes; and (3) the situation post-decision, showing how any existing violence continues after divorce, by means of parental authority. The concept of ‘motherhood under threat’ is placed at the centre of these issues, where children’s voices are given the least attention.

This article reflects on how economic globalization affects the livesof women working in the export industry in border areas marked by the porosity ofsaid border. We wanted to ask ourselves about how the macro affects the micro, helping to generate glolocal spaces, where the cross-border experience and migration(internal or international) becomes relevant. To this end, two biographicalaccounts have been chosen (for each case studied) that help us to exemplify theseexperiences, emphasizing the expressive function of the biographical approach towhich Bertaux refers. Both cases have been selected from a wider investigationthat includes the lives of more than a hundred and fifty people (eighty women) whohave work experience in the export industry on the border of Mexico with the USand Morocco with Spain.

Introduction In Spain the use of epidurals for pain relief during childbirth is widespread. Currently, we can observe a progressive change in attitude towards a less interventionist care and the use of non-pharmacological methods to reduce pain, unless the woman has left instructions otherwise. Aims To explore the decision-making process concerning pain relief methods in childbirth in order to detect the elements of vulnerability that are present in said process and examine the demands directed towards healthcare professionals. Methodology This study has applied a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological theoretical-methodological approach. The technique used to obtain information was the semistructured individual interview. The study was carried out in Catalonia. The participants were 17 adult women with low-risk pregnancies. Results Three categories have been identified after the analysis: (a) Completion of the birth plan: an approach to the decision; (b) The rationale of the decision: resources and barriers; and (c) The approach to pain in childbirth: elements of vulnerability. Conclusions Women do not always make firm decisions when completing the birth plan; The decisions expressed may be statements of intent. At the time of delivery, the perceived pain can be experienced as a threat that makes them feel vulnerable. The role of midwives and other healthcare professionals is to help work out this sense of vulnerability.

The phenomenon of gender gap in Japan has brought many impacts of change in Japan from the declining birth rate and including the emergence of non-profit organizations (NPO) action groups namely "Fathering Japan"(Ikumen) founded by Tatsuya Ando in 2006, which tried to present as a form of resistance ideology from the myth of "Gender Stereotypes" hegemony in Japan.Ando established the NPOto encourage present and future fathers to play a more active role in child-rearing.“The priority of traditional Japanese fathers is work ... they don't know what to do even when they come home early," said Tetsuya Ando. Thus, it is important to study this social and cultural phenomenon to understand the whole structure of Japanese non-traditional security problem that can be seen through the “Fathering Japan” as a new discourse. By using the discourse alternative approach to analyze the role of the social movement of "Fathering Japan" (Ikumen) as the resistance ideology from Japan cultural mythology, the study was conducted by using qualitative methods through the Discourse Analysis by Ernesto and Chantal Mouffe. Abstract. The persistence of a gender gap in corporate leadership positions is a major socio-economic challenge, as gender inequalities in the labor market in general, and in high decision-making positions in particular, not only suffocate the social development but hurts economic growth. Although previous research has helped to place the issue of the small number of women in leadership on the agenda for both practitioners and policy makers, knowledge is still fragmented without systematically addressing possible causes of inequality in the highest corporate positions. In addition, the studies examining instruments to promote women’s leadership often assume particular barriers that women face and do not link the different causes of inequality with nuanced policy tools and policies to fight them. Therefore, this research goal is to shed light on the reasons why barriers preventing gender equality at the top corporate levels exists, studying and proposing specific policy measures to promote women careers. The paper concludes analyzing the accelerated progress on women representation on corporate leadership positions driven by political and regulatory pressure in a few Member States of the 28 EU countries and offering a series of suggestions to progress women presence on corporate boards. Keywords: women in leadership, equality, discrimination, diversity management, womenon boards.

The Gender gap is one of the most prominent problems in the context of Nepal. Even if Nepal constitution promotes gender equality and equity, there is still a huge gap between male and female. Women lag in literary percentage, nutritional health conditions, ownership, and employment opportunities. One of the obstacles in the path of gender equality is our systemic education materials especially our textbooks which reinforce the stereotypical concept of male and female through textbook representations. Researchers have shown that gender stereotypes have been seen in the textbooks of highly developed countries like America, Australia, and Hongkong. In this context, all the compulsory textbooks of grade four and five prescribed by the Curriculum Development Centre in the context of Nepal were observed. In all the books, stereotypical representations of male and female characters were found. Most of the men and women were presented doing conventional gender roles, and male-centered themes are found in the narratives. This research claims that when conventional attitude regarding gender is transferred to young children, it ultimately reproduces similar gendered personalities and helps to maintain the gender gap. This research uses the concept of ‘technology of power’ by Foucault to interpret gender representations in textbooks. A Ccritical Discourse Analysis has been used to analyze the data from textbooks. The findings suggest that there are biased gender representations suggesting stereotypes and gender binary which could potentially affect the learners both male and female as it fosters false knowledge regarding gender and overburdens the male whereas humiliates the females.
