The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of leadership styles in increasing local government innovation. This research method is based on the approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. This research was conducted in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province, to be precise at the Regent Office of North Luwu Regency. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews. The results showed that the leader has carried out his function as a spokesman. The output of the aforementioned activities has brought the good name of the North Luwu Regency Government as a regency that has the ability to speak professionally, where organizing international and national scale events require optimal lobbying and negotiations. The implementation of the leader in giving natural rewards to employees turns out to be able to improve performance and motivation on the pretext that the work given is an award because not everyone is able to complete the job well, on the other hand, employees feel that tasks that can be completed properly are opportunities for further increase his potential and competence so that it will be easier to get strategic positions in the future. Leaders play a role in creating a positive mindset towards developing potential employees from various dimensions, namely the dimensions of HR development, the dimensions of skill development, and the dimensions of decision making.

Performance appraisal is a fundamental indicator in public accountability to achieve the good governance principles. Hence, this study aims to analyze the performance measurement that can improve performance on government agencies in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study was conducted in qualitative approach. The research found that non-integrated models of performance measurement in South Sulawesi are inefficient and ineffective. Inefficiency happens because it uses time and cost resources separately, while being ineffective is because both models focuses on each goal instead on performance goals and the process is not supported by the actual management.

This article discusses about the style of women leadership in the local government (Pemda) of North Toraja, South Sulawesi, which in their daily life is still highly upholds patriarchal culture. But in running out their functions, several strategic positions in local government of North Toraja are led by women. Data obtained by literature study, observation and interviews. The results showed that women leadership styles varied based on their character, background, education and career path. The sixth informant's leadership style was able to adjust to the conditions and situations in the field with subordinates who had diverse characters. Some informants were able to show significant achievements compared to the previous leaders held by male leaders. Related to the customs in North Toraja that are strong and uphold patriarchal culture, the six informants are still able to carry out their duties as leaders and be professional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah permainan tradisional yang masih dilestarikan di Luwu Raya, faktor penyebab permainan tradisional tidak diminati oleh anak digital natives, serta desain pembelajaran yang sesuai untuk menjadikan permainan tradisional sebagai sarana edukatif untuk melestarikan budaya bangsa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe deskriptif. Responden dalam penelitiain ini adalah 155 anak usia sekolah dasar yang ada di empat kabupaten wilayah Luwu Raya. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan angket. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan cara reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lima belas permainan tradisional yang masih dilestarikan di Luwu Raya dari total 25 permainan tradisional yang ada di Sulawesi Selatan. Penyebab anak-anak tidak memainkan lagi permainan tradisional adalah karena kekurangan teman bermain, bertengkar atau berbeda pendapat dengan sesama pemain, kekurangan alat bermain, tidak tertarik lagi dengan permainan tradisional, dilarang oleh orang tua dan warga sekitar, serta kelelahan saat bermain. Desain pembelajaran yang sesuai adalah memilih karakteristik permainan yang dapat menunjang pencapaian kompetensi dasar siswa dan mengintegrasikannya ke dalam pembelajaran dengan menjadikannya sebagai metode dan media pembelajaran. Kesimpulan, ada beberapa permainan tradisional yang masih dimainkan oleh anak-anak di wilayah Luwu Utara dan salah satu upaya untuk melestarikannya adalah dengan mengintegrasikan permainan tradisional ke dalam pembelajaran.  This study aims to determine the number of traditional games that are still preserved by the children in Luwu Raya; factors that cause digital natives children do not like this traditional game, and learning design suit to make traditional game as an educational means to preserve the nation’s culture. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Respondents in this study were 155 children of primary school age in four districts of Luwu Raya. Data collection methods using interviews, observation, and questionnaires. The data obtained were then analyzed by means of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that there were fifteen traditional games that are still preserved by children in Luwu Raya from a total of twenty five traditional games in South Sulawesi. Children stop playing the traditional game is due to the lack of friends to play with, fight or disagree with fellow players, lack of playing tools, no longer interested in traditional games, prohibited by parents and local residents, and fatigue when playing. To find the appropriate learning design is by selecting traditional games with characteristics that can support the achievement of students’ basic competencies and integrate them into learning by making it as the learning method and media. To sum up, several traditional games are still played by digital natives’ children in the North Luwu region and one of the efforts to preserve them is by integrating traditional games into learning.

This article aims to analyses the leadership style of Muslim priest (kyai) in traditional Islamic boarding school (pesantren) seeing from Weber’s leadership theory in managing human resources, infrastructure, finance, and social capital in the pesantren for development. This research also intends to review the existence of selected traditional Islamic boarding school with the types of what Weber’s explain in his article. Using library study in a qualitative approach in nature on several sources, i.e., library books, documents and information on the internet. DDI Mangkoso in South Sulawesi province was selected due to its long history as Islamic institution and their renowned and charismatic and transformative kyai since their early years of establishment. The analysis in this research somehow managed to reveal that the three Weber’s patterns type is found in the leadership of kyai in several pesantrens around Indonesia including in DDI Mangkoso. Traditional leadership of DDI Mangkoso’s kyai is strongly influenced by the tradition of education in pesantren which respects kyai’s position as the leader and the founder of the pesantren. However, charismatic and transformative leadership through Anregurutta K.H. Abdul Rahman Ambo Dalle and KH Farid Wajedi were the two most influence styles among Kyai in DDI Mangkoso until now

This paper examines leadership styles of secondary school principals in Cameroon, in terms of transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles. This paper discusses the leadership styles in Cameroon and puts forward ideas for continuous improvement. A qualitative approach, using a semistructured interview, was adopted. It was conducted on ten principals, ten teachers, and ten students. Majority of respondents from schools described their principals as transformational leaders. Doubts are cast on the nature of transformational leadership in schools in Cameroon, since there is less training and development for leadership in schools.

This study compared the leadership styles of principals dominating in both public and private secondary schools in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, and also investigated the principals’ gender differences. Leadership styles examined include: autocratic, visionary, , democratic, coaching, servant, , , , bureaucratic and digital. A descriptive research design was adopted. The population of the study consists of 26 public secondary schools and 97 registered private secondary schools. The total population of teachers in the study were 1194. Using the Taro formula, a sample size of 306 respondents were sampled of which questionnaires were administered and 305 questionnaires were retrieved and used for analysis. A self-designed questionnaire that yielded reliability coefficients of r= 0.942, 0.911, 0.924 were used for data collection. A research question and two hypotheses were used to guide the study. The findings of the study showed a significant difference in the leadership style adopted by school principals of both school types with mean =92.5 and 1149, SD= 9.712 and 11.634, while (t = 0.719; = 301, p <0.05). There is also a significant gender difference in the leadership style adopted by principals of both schools with mean =125.14 and 120.97, SD= 14.195 and 9.318 and (t= 2.909; = 301; p< 0.05). The study concluded that though there are significant differences in the leadership styles adopted by the school principals, there are no leadership styles. It is therefore recommended that; principals of both school types should blend and adopt styles that best fit the situation at hand. Thus, leadership style should be applied based on contingency.

This study aims to analyze Local Government Innovations Related to the Application of Visionary and Super Leadership Leadership Styles. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through observation and interviews. Activities such as data condensation, display data and conclusion drawing and verification. The results showed that the sustainability of innovation in North Luwu Regency which consists of legislative, executive, human resource, environment, technology, and community support in general has received a positive response so that the sustainability of innovation in North Luwu Regency is not in doubt. service improvement, process innovation, administrative innovation, systems innovation, conceptual innovation, and radical innovation. A number of types of innovations in North Luwu Regency have been implemented. The innovation that was born in North Luwu Regency is inseparable from the application of the Visionary leadership and Super leadership styles. Leadership innovation Visionary Leadership and Super leadership in terms of the types of innovation have met the type or types of innovation in the public sector.

This study describes the leadership style of principals, describes the teaching supervision program, describes the implementation of teaching supervision, describes the techniques in carrying out supervision of teaching, describes the follow-up by the principal, describes the inhibiting factors of teaching supervision. Descriptive methods with qualitative approaches, carried out in Al-Muhajirin Purwakarta Middle School, observed by the principal, vice-principal and colleagues. The results of the research style of principals' leadership in improving teacher discipline is to use authoritarian and democratic leadership styles. Teaching Supervision techniques used by principals are: Techniques for supervising individuals by doing and group techniques with activities. Follow-up of the results of supervision by the Principal: guidance based on the results of class visits, teacher training programs, opportunities to actively participate in MGMP activities, training both by the local government and the central government or other agencies. Obstacles to supervision: low competence of some appointed supervisors, activities outside the supervision schedule, and difficult to change old habits.

A leader is a crucial factor in the life of an organization. The progress of an organization depends on the extent to which the leader can bring the organization to achieve organizational goals. What emerges is the quality of foreign workers (expatriates). Many expatriates have quality and competences under local workers.  The aim of this study is to know and analyze the problem of foreign workers, whether they are capable of working in accordance with competence since many positions as expatriates occupy leaders or managers. The research method uses a qualitative approach with respondents of local workers who have ever been led by expatriates and locals. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach; the sampling method uses purposive sampling. The result of this study reveals that local leaders are more effective (than expatriate ones) due to the same culture and language. Expatriate leaders and local leaders have a different working culture that is brought from their own country so that they have their strengths and weaknesses resulted from their leadership style or the way they lead their subordinates.

This study aims at determining styles of leadership in improving the performance of personnel, factors affecting the personnel performance, and inhibitors in improving the performance of personnel. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were done through observation, interview and documentation study. The subjects were principal, vice director, heads of division, and teachers of Dayah. The results showed that: 1) The leadership styles of dayah in improving the performance of personnel was a consultative, participative and instructive leadership style. 2) Factors that affected performance of personnel were the authority and charismatic of the principal in the presence of personnel, and democratic in decision making, and the religious environment, 3) The limiting factors in improving the performance of the personnel were the number of students that exceeds the capacity dormitories which were available, some of the personnel did not have the administration skill background, the minority of personnel who were less active, and were not able to provide financial support for the personnel.
