Blastocystosis is symptomatic infection caused by the protozoal parasite Blastocystis , which resides in the intestinal tract of its hosts and it is one of the most common parasites reported in humans. It’s prevalence ranges between (30 - 50%) of the population in developing countries. This genus has a worldwide distribution and often the most commonly reported human intestinal protozoan in children and adults, even infect infants

ABSTRACTGiardia is caused by protozoa, Giardia lamblia. It is one of the most common causes of water born or food born diarrhea and it has a worldwide distribution. The prevalence is approximately 20-30% in developing countries. Giardia duodenalis is the most commonly reported intestinal protozoan in humans mainly affecting children. The infection is usually associated with malabsorption, weight loss and growth retardation. We report a case of four years old boy who presented with diarrhea and malabsorption for last 2 years. Its clinical presentation and histopathological diagnosis on duodenal biopsy is discussed.

The disease Pravahika is a Swatantra Vyadhi as well as an Upadrava of Atisara. Acharya Charaka mentions it as a symptom in Kaphaja Atisara and as a Vastivyapat. Susruta and Madhavakara have first identified Pravahika as a distinctive disease. Vagbhata has also explained about Bimbishi, which is a synonym of Pravahika. In developing countries, the unhealthy environment or environmental hazards, unhealthy food habits and occupation plays an important role in creating serious problems. Among this, Amoebiasis is a common communicable infection of gastro-intestinal tract, which has a worldwide distribution. Amoebiasis results due to the infection by Entamoeba histolytica. It is estimated that >480 million people carry the infection in their intestinal tract and approximately 1/10th of infected people suffer from invasive Amoebiasis. It was estimated that in 2010 Amoebiasis accounted for about 55,000 death worldwide.[1] The objectives of the present study is to assess the efficacy of Sangrahi Vasti and Kutaja Parpati in the management of Pravahika (Intestinal Amoebiasis).

The mHealth field understandably arose from a base of practice, developed a nascent, yet ever-expanding, body of inter-disciplinary scholarship, and currently hopes for recognition by, and establishment on, national and trans-national policy bodies and agendas respectively. However, to justify public investment, policymakers require a body of theoretically sound, methodologically rigorous, and generalizable, evidence on how mobile technologies can effectively improve basic healthcare service delivery for hard-to-reach, resource-poor populations in developing countries. This essay draws upon prior work, ranging from a review article, an mHealth intervention for Indonesian healthcare workers within the medical infrastructure, to a text-messaging project in Uganda focused on beneficiaries. The argument is organized around theoretical, methodological, and sustainability issues, and proposes suggestions for how the discipline of mobile communication studies can add value to the field of mHealth research in developing countries.

Peoples are using more potent drugs with various medical conditions. pharmacovigilance helps in safe and convenient use of pharmaceutical drugs. Voluntary recording of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is a chief component of pharmacovigilance. Adverse drug reactions have become a dominant health related problems in developing countries like India. The main objective of pharmacovigilance is the assessment of benefit-risk profile of drug for better potency and safety in patients. In terms of volume India pharmaceutical industries is third largest in the world so India has a core of clinical research and drug design & development. This review article explains the need of pharmacovigilance in pharma companies, the growth of pharmacovigilance in different centuries and current status of pharmacovigilance in the country.

Giardia is a ubiquitous intestinal protozoan parasite of vertebrates and the most common intestinal pathogen of humans and domestic animals with a worldwide distribution including both temperate and tropical regions.Giardia was first observed in 1681 by Antony van Leeuwenhoek in his own faeces (Dobell 1920), and the organism has intrigued biologists and clinicians ever since. However, the first detailed description of the parasite was not given until two centuries later by Lambl (1859). Koch’s postulation was proven by Rendtorff in 1954 when he successfully transmitted symptomatic Giardia infection to human volunteers following orally administered cysts. The first symptoms of clinical giardiasis were reported in the early 1920s, although the significance of Giardia as a cause of diarrhoeal disease was controversial for many years (see Farthing 1994; Cox 1998), and it is only recently that the significance of Giardia as a cause of chronic disease in children and its association with failure to thrive, wasting and malabsorption syndromes has been fully realised (reviewed in Farthing 1994; Hall 1994; Gracey 1994; Rabbani and Islam 1994; Hesham et al. 2005; Savioli et al. 2006; Thompson 2008).The question of Giardia ’s role as a source of zoonotically transmitted disease again has been controversial. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that Giardia should be considered as a zoonotic agent in 1979 (Anon. 1979). Since that time, increasing circumstantial epidemiological evidence from waterborne outbreaks, the results of some cross-infection experiments and molecular characterization studies of Giardia isolates from humans and other animals has led most authorities to conclude that Giardia should be considered a zoonotic parasite (Acha and Szyfres 2003; Savioli et al. 2006; and reviewed in Thompson 2004). However, as discussed below, the frequency of zoonotic transmission is uncertain.

School going children need special attention with respect to their nutrition need as, poor and unhygienic nutrition not only have serious effects on physical and mental growth, but also compromises cognitive behavior. Some developed countries have formulated special lunch food programs for school children and is under strict control. However, in developing countries there is no such policy. This review article focuses on the food items mostly served and their possible consequences in the schools of Pakistan especially in district Lower Dir.

Although Ascaris lumbricoides is a common intestinal parasite of humans with worldwide distribution causing ascariasis, Ascaris is a neglected disease and still is a burden in developing countries. Furthermore, the parasite’s permanence and prevalence present difficulties in control strategies. Therefore, more research on the mechanisms of resistance to infection is required for reducing prevalence parasite and control of infections.

The health care system around the world, both in developed and developing countries, is struggling with the problem of managing the provision of health care in conditions of limited resources. The availability and use of various medical equipment at all levels of the healthcare system were emphasized for the efficient and high-quality provision of services. The main purpose of this review article is to assess the availability and use of medical devices and identify the registered causes affecting the availability and use of medical devices in healthcare institutions.
