As the world advances, living standards are getting changed with inclination more toward sedentary life style and junk food, we are seeing a worldwide increased incidence of coronary artery disease. A 73 year of age gentleman with progressive shortness of breath NYHA-II/III since last 6 months and epigastric discomfort with effort angina CCS-III. Was having no other co-morbidities, except of 35 pack years of smoking. On evaluation his Coro-angiogram revealed Diffuses TVCAD with Lad diffusely diseased throughout its middle course >90%, LCX 80%, RCA mid-Course critical discrete lesion of 90%. His 2D, TTE showed normal valvular apparatus and ejection fraction of 55%. Literature review further furnishes the fact that LAD is most commonly being affected by atheroma formation hence making it the most common site for endartrectomy, though peri-operative MI is still a grave concern, but half dose protamine slow reversal of the heparin and keeping ACT at 150-160 sec greatly reduces the incidence of peri-operative MI.

Background: Most of the studies on cardiovascular risk factors are concentrated on adults. But atherosclerotic process begins in childhood and is influenced by genetics, diet and life style. Hence, present study was undertaken. The objectives of the study were to study lipid profile and other cardiovascular risk factors like hypertensive status, BMI(Body mass index) in children aged between 5years and 18 years born to parents having premature IHD(Ischemic heart disease), to study diet and life style factors in study group having family history of IHD, to study the sociodemographic profile of dyslipidemia. Methods: A 200 Cases of premature IHD were selected. Their children(n=200) in the age group of 5 to 18 years were selected and analysed for cardiovascular risk factors. They were compared with 200 normal children without any family history of IHD.Results: On comparison of mean lipid profile between cases and controls HDL cholesterol was very low amongst cases (p=0.001). The mean values of triglycerides and VLDL were very high amongst cases (p=0.001). The mean atherogenic index (AI) was high amongst cases (p=0.001). Prehypertension or hypertension was seen amongst 8.5% cases (p=0.004). Amongst the cases 19.5% had excess junk food intake (p=0.001). 51.5% of cases had sedentary life style (p=0.001).Conclusions: Children in our area born to parents with premature IHD have significant incidence of dyslipidaemia. There is an increased incidence of other cardiovascular risk factors like hypertension, excess junk food intake, sedentary life style in these children.

The highest prevalence of hypothyroidism (13.1%) is noted in people aged 46-54yrs old. With people aged 18-35 yrs being less affected (7.5%). To prevent these hazards Panchakarma is beneficiary to maintain metabolic rate. At the end of 2019, a new coronavirus (COVID-19) appeared on the world scene, which mainly affects the respiratory system, causing pneumonia and multi-organ failure, and, although it starts with common symptoms such as shortness of breath and fever, in about 2–3% of cases it leads to death. Unfortunately, to date, no specific treatments have been found for the cure of this virus and, therefore, it is advisable to implement all possible strategies in order to prevent infection. In this context, it is important to better define the role of all behaviors, in particular nutrition, in order to establish whether these can both prevent infection and improve the outcome of the disease in patients with COVID-19. In the literature, it is widely shown that states of malnutrition, overweight, and obesity negatively affect the immune system, leading to viral infections, and several studies have shown that nutritional interventions can act as immunostimulators, helping to prevent viral infections. Even if several measures, such as the assumption of a specific diet regimen, the use of dietary supplements, and other similar interventions, are promising for the prevention, management, and recovery of COVID-19 patients, it is important to highlight that strong data from randomized clinical trials are needed to support any such assumption. Considering this particular scenario, we present a literature review addressing several important aspects related to diet and SARS-CoV-2 infection, in order to highlight the importance of diet and supplementation in prevention and management of, as well as recovery from COVID-19.

In different epidemiological studies, an association between sedentary life style and incidence of cardiovascular diseases has been demonstrated. Dyslipidaemia is one of the important risk factors of cardiovascular disease. An association of dyslipidaemia with sedentary life style has been considered. This study was carried out among 50 sedentary workers (teachers, office staffs, bank employees) at Pabna District and 50 individuals with non-sedentary jobs matched for age group and sex for the control group to see the association. Body mass index (BMI), blood pressure (BP), plasma level of glucose, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides (Tgs) were found to be significantly higher whereas high density lipoprotein (HDL) was found to be significantly lower among the sedentary workers as compared with the control subjects. From the study, it appears that dyslipidaemia is more common in sedentary workers and the relative risk for cardiovascular disease is increased among them due to the sedentary nature of their jobs.
