The analysis of the existing literature sources on the problem of research allowed us to suggest the existence of a connection between the type of parental attitude and the specifics of the actualization of mental states of preschoolers. This determined the direction of the present study. The ascertaining experiment included three stages. To identify the phenomenology of relations in the parent-child dyad, the well-known questionnaires of parental relations (PRQ, PARY) and the parent essay were used. At the second stage, the features of the mental states of older preschoolers were determined using the projective techniques "Steam Train", "Cinema", "Stars and Waves". The use of the Pearson correlation coefficient at the third stage allowed us to establish moderate and weak connections between the type of parental relationships and the equilibrium and non-equilibrium mental states of older preschoolers. "Acceptance" and "cooperation" turn out to be the most appropriate and environmentally friendly variants of parental attitude towards children, ensuring the actualization of equilibrium and positive non-equilibrium states, the optimal level of mental activity, the formation of socially desirable and harmonious personality traits.

The article deals with the dialogue of cultures in the interpretation of Western European thinkers of the XVIII-XIX centuries. It is shown that the study of the history of relations between cultures, which differ in their basis and forms, has passed three meaningful stages. The first stage is the beginning of a «conversation» about the relationship of cultures and the formulation of the concepts of «West» and «East» (enlighteners). The second stage is characterized by a shift of the question of the duality of «West-East» to the level of the dilemma of the philosophy of history and world history (representatives of German classical philosophy). The third stage is the application of a new, multi-factor methodology (positivists). It is concluded that the Russian historian and representative of the positivist philosophy of history N.I. Kareev gave a constructive and critical assessment of the views of Western European thinkers on the problem of relations between different cultures and creatively used their ideas in building his philosophy of history.

The article is devoted to identifying the relationship between mental states and the sociometric status of children in a group at preschool educational institutions. In is noted that determining the relationship between mental states and status characteristics is important in understanding the mechanisms of children's development in ontogenesis and is associated with the need to ensure emotional well-being and successful socialization of a child. The psychodiagnostic methods, adequate research goals, methods of statistical processing of experimental data (criterion r – Pearson correlation coefficient, multifunctional difference criterion φ – Fisher’s angular transformation) were applied during investigational study. The results of correlation analysis are presented in the article. The analysis of correlations allowed to identify pervasive and specific, peculiar only to a certain age stage of development, negative and positive mental states of children, depending on their status characteristics. The data obtained in the course of the study significantly enrich the existing ideas about the characteristics of preschoolers with different sociometric status. It is concluded that the presence of statistically significant differences in the frequency of manifestations of mental states allowed to determine the specifics of socio-psychological features of the states of children of different status groups. The need to take into account these ideas is associated with the fact that mental formations formed at this age are stable and persist for many years, determining the further development of the child. Negative states, creating a vicious circle, can have a negative impact on the formation of the child's relationship system in a group of peers.

In the experiment carried out on three groups of dry cows 6 goals in each, the influence of introducing of Trutenat to them on the content of Zincum, Cuprum and Mangan in carunculs of the placenta maternal part and the course of calving researched. The drug is not introduced to cows of control groups, the first group with course of physiological calving and the third at detention of the placenta, and the second group was injected three times at intervals of 7 days, were injected subcutaneously Trutenat in a dose of 7 ml/100 kg of body weight. At all cows throughout 30–45 minutes after birth of the calf we exterpited 2 caruncles, in which we determined the mineral content. The level fluctuation of the test substances in carunculs depending on the current third stage of calving set. The concentration of Zincum in carunculs of cows during the detention of the placenta is higher than in cows of the second (experimental) and the first (control) groups, and Cuprum is lower compared to the first and the second control group, Mangan – below relative to both control groups. The physiological calving courses with different concentration of Zn (61.45 ± 1.34 μmol/l), Cu (0.73 ± 0.1 μmol/l) and Mn (213.3 ± 2.7 μmol/l) in carunculs of the placenta maternal part. The second stage of calving of all cows was within the physiological framework without rendering assistance, ranged from 57 to 85 minutes and amounted 67.5 minutes to an average.Depending on the duration of the third stage of calving we determined the relationship of the studied mineral substances between their levels in blood and maternal parts of the placenta. On the pathology of the third stage of calving in cows blood in the first stage the level of Zinc amounted to 134.15 µg%, Cuprum –90.8 µg %, Mangan –to 3.7 µg%. Separation of the placenta lasted longer for 20–22 hours.

Cables and wire ropes are known to both elongate and reduce diametrically during their lifetime. The relationship between cable elongation and cable life has been observed for many years and includes three distinct stages. The first, the constructional stretch stage, occurs early in the cable’s use and is mostly the result of the core compressing and the cable elements fitting closely together. The second stage of the cable’s life is referred to as the normal life stretch stage and is a much more gradual occurrence in which wear is the most dominant mechanism. The third stage includes a rapid elongation and indicates impending failure. The current study offers a simplified explanation on the effect of wear in cables. This work utilizes the recently developed theory for wire ropes and cables in which the cable is considered to be a collection of thin helical wires and the equations of equilibrium for bending and twisting of thin rods are applied. A simple cable cross section is considered and the effects of wear on cable stiffness, diameter reduction and individual wire strains are evaluated. It is determined that cable stiffness can actually increase for small amounts of wire wear due to the disparity between the changes in the geometric and elastic stiffness components with wear.

Purpose The minimum masking level (MML) is the minimum intensity of a stimulus required to just totally mask the tinnitus. Treatments aimed at reducing the tinnitus itself should attempt to measure the magnitude of the tinnitus. The objective of this study was to evaluate the reliability of the MML. Method Sample consisted of 59 tinnitus patients who reported stable tinnitus. We obtained MML measures on two visits, separated by about 2–3 weeks. We used two noise types: speech-shaped noise and high-frequency emphasis noise. We also investigated the relationship between the MML and tinnitus loudness estimates and the Tinnitus Handicap Questionnaire (THQ). Results There were differences across the different noise types. The within-session standard deviation averaged across subjects varied between 1.3 and 1.8 dB. Across the two sessions, the Pearson correlation coefficients, range was r = .84. There was a weak relationship between the dB SL MML and loudness, and between the MML and the THQ. A moderate correlation ( r = .44) was found between the THQ and loudness estimates. Conclusions We conclude that the dB SL MML can be a reliable estimate of tinnitus magnitude, with expected standard deviations in trained subjects of about 1.5 dB. It appears that the dB SL MML and loudness estimates are not closely related.

Critics have argued that Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel, Mary Barton (1848), is split by a conflict between the modes of realism and romance. But the conflict does not render the novel incoherent, because Gaskell surpasses both modes through a utopian narrative that breaks with the conflict of form and gives coherence to the whole novel. Gaskell not only depicts what Thomas Carlyle called the ‘Condition of England’ in her work but also develops, through three stages, the utopia that will redeem this condition. The first stage is romantic nostalgia, a backward glance at Eden from the countryside surrounding Manchester. The second stage occurs in Manchester, as Gaskell mixes romance with a realistic mode, tracing a utopian drive toward death. The third stage is the utopian break with romantic and realistic accounts of the Condition of England and with the inadequate preceding conceptions of utopia. This third stage transforms narrative modes and figures a new mode of production.

Employee turnover has become a key performance indicator for many organizations as they struggle to retain talented employees. The negative impact of turnover on organizational performance has continually forced organizational leaders to seek better ways of retaining valuable employees. The relationship between man and work has always attracted the attention of philosophers. A major part of men’s life is spent at work. Work is social reality and social expectation to which men seem to conform. It not only provides status to the individual but also binds him to the society. An employee who is satisfied with his job would perform his duties well and be committed to his job, and subsequently to his organization. This paper examines relationship among job satisfaction, organizational commitment and employees’ turnover intentions at Unilever Corporation in Nigeria. The data for this study was collected from 117 employees currently working at Unilever Nigeria PLC using the survey method via the questionnaire. Pearson Correlation and the multiple regression analysis techniques using the SPSS version 22.0 was used for the data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that both job satisfaction and organizational commitment have significant negative relationship with employee turnover intentions. In addition, organizational commitment was revealed to have a more dorminant influence on employee turnover intentions than job satisfaction. Based on these findings, the implications, recommendations, practice, and theory were discussed.

This booklet is a collection of the position statements accepted for the HRI’20 conference workshop “Social Cognition for HRI: Exploring the relationship between mindreading and social attunement in human-robot interaction” (Wykowska, Perez-Osorio & Kopp, 2020). Unfortunately, due to the rapid unfolding of the novel coronavirus at the beginning of the present year, the conference and consequently our workshop, were canceled. On the light of these events, we decided to put together the positions statements accepted for the workshop. The contributions collected in these pages highlight the role of attribution of mental states to artificial agents in human-robot interaction, and precisely the quality and presence of social attunement mechanisms that are known to make human interaction smooth, efficient, and robust. These papers also accentuate the importance of the multidisciplinary approach to advance the understanding of the factors and the consequences of social interactions with artificial agents.

The first stage of this project aims to identify assessment measures which include items on voice-hearing by way of a systematic review. The second stage is the development of a brief framework of categories of positive experiences of voice hearing, using a triangulated approach, drawing on views from both professionals and people with lived experience. The third stage will involve using the framework to identify any positve aspects of voice-hearing included in the voice hearing assessments identified in stage 1.

Information sharing is a ubiquitous social behavior. What causes people to share? Mentalizing, or considering the mental states of other people, has been theorized to play a central role in information sharing, with higher activity in the brain’s mentalizing system associated with increased likelihood to share information. In line with this theory, we present novel evidence that mentalizing causally increases information sharing. In three pre-registered studies (n = 400, 840, and 3500 participants), participants who were instructed to consider the mental states of potential information receivers indicated higher likelihood to share health news compared to a control condition where they were asked to reflect on the content of the article. Certain kinds of mentalizing were particularly effective; in particular, considering receivers’ emotional and positive mental states, led to the greatest increase in likelihood to share. The relationship between mentalizing and sharing was mediated by feelings of closeness with potential receivers. Mentalizing increased feelings of connectedness to potential receivers, and in turn, increased likelihood of information sharing. Considering receivers’ emotional, positive, and inward-focused mental states was most effective at driving participants to feel closer with potential receivers and increase sharing. Data provide evidence for a causal relationship between mentalizing and information sharing and provide insight about the mechanism linking mentalizing and sharing. Taken together, these results advance theories of information sharing and shed light on previously observed brain-behavior relationships.
