Information and communications technology (ICT) in recent times has become a viable strategic policy option adopted by many businesses in order to compete favorably in a competitive and dynamic ICT driven market. This strategic move by business organizations is being hindered by some challenges which has invariably reduced the benefits accruable from ICT deployment for business operations especially in the inventory management. Primary data formed the methodology of the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data obtained through the administration of structured questionnaire. It was established during the field survey that challenges facing the use of ICT had impacted negatively on the performance of inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry during the period under study. It was also revealed that the cost of software was a major challenge in the industry and conclude that the identified challenges had significant effect on customers' satisfaction of the firms in the Nigerian brewery industry. It is recommended that management of firms in the Nigerian brewery industry should collaborate with software developers in Nigerian to develop a software that will be a replica of ERP but should be efficient, effective and affordable for inventory management and other operations in the industry. This paper examined the extent of usage of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry; investigated the level of adoption of ICT in the inventory management phases; and the effect of the extent of ICT usage on its adoption by firms in the industry. Primary data formed the methodology of the study. The analysis of data collected was done using descriptive (tables and percentages) and inferential statistics. The results showed that majority of the respondents were using ICT tools and its associated components in their inventory management. It was revealed that the extent of ICT usage had significant effect on its adoption for inventory management by firms in the industry. Based on these findings, the study concluded that ICT is fully deployed and adopted to a very great extent for inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry and that its adoption and usage in the brewery industry was influenced by its extent of use. The study recommends that firms in the industry should make judicious use of the identified ICT usage by adopting ICT solutions for their operations to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.

Applications of Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-driven innovations are profound in the electoral cycle. Among them, biometric technology is currently sweeping across developing countries. It is, however, only poorly adopted among rural voters. Does the use of biometric technology in the conduct of elections reconstruct rural voters’ behaviour, amid prevailing social challenges? The links between these realities and their consequences are currently less understood, and lacking in supporting literature. I argue that the public perception of bio-metric technology, the availability of proper infrastructure, and the distance between polling stations and the dwellings of rural voters all affect the latter's level of adoption of biometric technology. These interactions combine to produce specific modalities that shape voting behaviour and general political culture. I elicit primary data from voters in Nigeria's remote villages, so as to predict the implications and consequences of glossing over the dimensions and magnitude of the biometric technology adaptation challenge by policymakers. I conclude by reflecting on how these interplays and interactions create “spatial differentials” in electoral outcomes/credibility, and proffer possible strategies for institutional intervention.

The growing use of information and communications technology (ICT) by business—e-business— has a profound impact on the economy. E-business lowers costs and increases the choices available to consumers and firms. These microeconomic changes work their way through the economy and ultimately influence macroeconomic conditions. Overall, e-business benefits the economy in many ways. Nevertheless, not all the effects of e-business on macroeconomic conditions are positive, and some aspects of e-commerce may limit the effectiveness of monetary policy. E-business changes the macroeconomy in several beneficial ways. Some gains are static in nature, arising from the more efficient use of existing resources. For example, increases in productivity increase a nation’s GDP. In addition, by lowering search and transaction costs, e-business unleashes deflationary pressures (Willis, 2004). Other gains are dynamic, altering the path national growth takes. By lowering the cost of transferring and employing knowledge, ICT enables greater R&D and innovation, which is crucial to long-run economic growth.

The incidence and prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in Indonesia is increasing every year. In the promotion of health promotion and prevention efforts, data related to risk factors and cost analysis are needed from the perspective of patients and / or families related to CKD treatment that requires replacement therapy for kidney function (Hemodialysis / HD). CKD patients undergo HD therapy generally twice a week, making it a relatively large burden on them. This study aims to determine the risk factors for CKD in hemodialysis patients at Bhayangkara Hospital Tk. I R. Said Sukanto and the impact of the cost of HD therapy from a household perspective. In an observational study with this case control method. Primary data was taken through interviews using a structured questionnaire with 100 HD patients (cases) and 100 patients from other poly (control), cross sectional. Risk factor analysis was carried out by logistic regression (p <0.05) and cost analysis using the accounting method. The results showed that in terms of socio-demography, ages above 40-49 years had a risk of 32.7 times and ≥ 50 years had a risk of 17.9 times having CKD compared to <30 years of age with an education level ≤ SD-SMA at risk 16.9 times affected by CKD from the academy / university group, and the income of Rp. 2,000,000 - Rp. 4,000,000 has a risk of 8.4 times being affected by CKD from income groups> Rp. 6,000,000. In terms of biophysiology, hypertension, diabetes and anemia had a risk of 516 times, 54 times and 272 times the effect of CKD. The habit of consuming Chinese and Western herbs increases the risk of developing CKD up to 10.9 times. The cost of the household perspective issued by the patient includes a meal cost of Rp360,000, transportation costs Rp.320,000 and drugs and multivitamins Rp250,000. The potential loss of productivity reaches Rp1,241,904 per patient per month.

This chapter discusses a harm concept that enables a more comprehensive assessment of the consequences of cyber crime. Even though harm resulting from cyber crime is not fundamentally different from harm that is caused by other forms of crime or crime in general, the reach, scope, and volume of crime facilitated by information and communications technology have transformed risks posed to individuals, organizations, and nations, and challenge conventional approaches of crime detection and prevention. Assessments of the impact of cyber crime have been focusing on estimating the cost in monetary value. However, most significant harm might not be experienced as a loss of money, but as a disruption or destabilization of systems that are built on trust. This article advocates for a human-centric approach to cyber security, which emphasizes harm mitigation strategies.

Background: No empirical evidence is available on whether or not information and communications technology (ICT) is adopted by South African township micro and small businesses (MSBs) in order to grow the business. ICT, as an enabler, can grow the business. It is evident from literature that ICT enables MSBs to be more productive and efficient.Objectives: This research determines to what extent ICT is adopted by MSBs in Soweto, and whether or not a positive correlation exists between the adoption rate of ICT and the financial and growth performance of the MSB itself.Method: A structured questionnaire was completed by 978 respondents to determine the extent of ICT adoption and for what ICT is used. This exploratory research provides new knowledge about the acceptance of ICT within township MSBs.Results: The results indicate that ICT is not used to the fullest by MSBs. Rather, it is used as a basic tool for doing business but it does not form an integral part of the business. This research provides insight into the usage and adoption of ICT and it opens the door for further cross-analysis research.Conclusion: Education and training are needed to ensure that MSBs use ICT to the fullest. MSBs embracing ICT can evolve from a survivalist SME to a more sustainable micro and small MSB.

The use of information and communications technology (ICT) in business—the most expansive definition of e-business—is transforming the world economy. E-business at the microeconomic level of retail, wholesale, and labor market transactions has an enormous impact on the performance of companies and the economic welfare of consumers and workers. The gains in efficiency and economic benefits at the microeconomic level exert influence all the way up to the macroeconomic level of GDP and fiscal and monetary phenomena. However, new policy challenges accompany the rewards from ebusiness in the economy. The economics of e-business are shaped by the way that ICT lowers the cost of transferring, storing, and processing information (Borenstein & Saloner, 2001). When the cost of information falls, there are profound consequences for how firms conduct business with each other, with consumers, and with workers. This article covers both the economic theory that suggests how e-business changes the economy (to understand why e-business has proliferated) and the empirical magnitude of the impacts (to show the economic benefits).

During the pandemic and post-pandemic of Covid-19, MSMEs are required to continue to survive, and even compete at the regional and global level. The improvement of technology and resources need to be optimized. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze: (1) the influence of Attitudes toward Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Mimetic Isomorphism partially on Strategic Management in Islamic Perspective (SMIP); (2) the moderating role of Qur’anic Work Ethics (QWE) in the relationship between Attitudes toward ICT and SMIP; (3) the moderating role of Qur’anic Work Ethics (QWE) in the relationship between Mimetic Isomorphism and SMIP. This study is conducted in Batik MSMEs in Pekalongan with the number of respondents of 154 MSMEs. The primary data is collected through purposive sampling using a questionnaire. The results of this study show that: (1) there is a partial influence of Attitudes toward ICT and Mimetic Isomorphism on SMIP; (2) there is a moderating role of QWE in the relationship between Attitudes toward ICT and SMIP; and (3) there is a moderating role of QWE in the relationship between Mimetic Isomorphism and SMIP.

Tourism is one of the most growing industries all around the world. Bangladesh is a new tourist destination on the map of the world. Bangladesh has enormous potential to develop tourism because of its attractive natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The tourism industry of Bangladesh has several positive impacts on the overall economy of this country.  Tourism can add value to the Bangladeshi economy if a proper marketing plan and strategy can be built and implemented for this purpose. The main objective of the study was to find out the major problems and prospects of the tourism industry in Bangladesh. The study area was Cumilla District. The study has tried to highlight the special attractive tourist spots of Bangladesh, especially in Cumilla. Tourists of Cumilla District were the population of the study.  For the study, a convenient sample of tourists from various tourist spots in the Cumilla District had taken. The study depended on both primary and secondary data; primary data were collected with a structured questionnaire and analyzed. From the analysis, it was found that the majority of the respondents are satisfied with cultural & religious heritage, transportation quality & cost efficiency. But they are dissatisfied with Information gaps, the absence of tour operators, poor service of hotel & poor security. Most of them suggest developing infrastructure such as accommodation, transportation, ensuring security, taking more promotional activities, reducing the cost of touring, etc. To enhance the existing image sincere steps of the concerned authorities can really be helpful; some guidelines have been mentioned in the recommendation part.
