Using a digital camera to achieve a successful result requires from the user, first and foremost, to be familiar with the proper use of the medium and to have obtained basic knowledge of the principles of the art of photography. What is the result in those cases where the photographer either does not know the basic principles of photography or cannot apply them effectively in practice? Is the product considered a “failure” thus leaving photos with no clear and recognizable objects? This paper focuses on designing and implementing an applied educational intervention, themed on ”shaken” photos taken by preschoolers and using this material to create digital narratives. This case study examines "shaken" photos as an opportunity to develop imagination and creativity through photography.

Inspired by the studies of modern cognitive psychology and real-world pattern recognition systems, a new developed model for pattern recognition is proposed to provide an alternative solution for some complicated pattern recognition problems. This study exploits a creative problem solving (CPS) skill to derive a pattern recognition solution and presents the basic principles, criteria, and techniques for CPS. Next, CPS is devoted to develop pattern recognition application and demonstrate a case study. In addition, this paper discusses the case study on the application of CPS thinking model. Experiment results show that CPS thinking model can improve this application performance of pattern recognition.

This paper presents the basic principles for strengthening of bridges and other structures through the use of external prestressing. A case study that includes strengthening of the approach spans for the Langeland Bridge in the south-eastern part of Denmark is included.

During a recent rehabilitation, corrosion of the post-tensioned tendons was discovered inside the box girders of the bridge. Additional analysis of the extent of the corrosion and a structural assessment was undertaken. Based on this, a strengthening project was carried out, and strengthening with external prestressing is currently being implemented.

AbstractThe stratigraphic analysis constitutes an essential diagnostic tool in archelogy works, which allows the archaeologists, historians and anthropologists to decipher the arrangement and interrelation between the different strata and the chronological ordering of the remains found. In this field, the photogrammetry realized with conventional digital camera and software of wide diffusion constitutes a versatile alternative, efficient and affordable in front of the conventional techniques of representation, based on artisan and loaded procedures of subjectivity, whose main limitations are analyzed. This article establishes a simple methodology and a systematic model for the documentation and preservation of stratigraphic units in archaeological excavations, compatible with the technique of stratigraphic analysis based on the Harris matrix. The validity and possibilities of the method have been verified in the project of archaeological intervention developed in the Royal Chapel of the Cathedral of Seville.

The aim of the study was to provide an overview of the basic principles of the use of a pile drive analyzer control instrument and its implementation method in testing the carrying capacity of Pertamina Refinery Tank Unit Balikpapan V tank foundation pile. The research method used in this research is applied research method with the method of using an unconfidence level case study on the accuracy of the results of pile foundation erection. This study is at the same time succesful story technical notes using PDA test control instrument in PT. Pertamina RU V Balikpapan. The results showed that based on the results of tests with PDA test control instruments can provide good accuracy on the carrying capacity of individual tank foundation piles so that there is no doubt about the acceptance criteria of tank building later. The results of this study recommend that PDA control instruments are suitable and safe to use in refinery areas and can be used for similar work in PT. Pertamina other. Keywords: Control instrument, pile drive analyzer, individual bearing capacity.

This study aims to investigate the similarities and differences between prospective mathematics teachers’ creative thinking skills in paper-pencil test and on a Geogebra-supported environment in terms of problem-posing. This case study used purposive sampling method for determining the participants. Findings revealed that the activities carried out in the GeoGebra-supported environment were insufficient to produce creative problems, and GeoGebra’s main utility to prospective teachers was in identifying their mistakes related to mathematical concepts and discrepancies among numerical values of the problems posed. The reasons for the low achievement in posing problem were discussed: These were; (i) lack of problem-posing experience, (ii) the structure of problem-posing activity, and (iii) prospective teachers’ mathematical content knowledge.

ABSTRACT Objective: to report the use of the Dangerous Decibels® program for workers of a refrigeration company and their children as an intervention strategy for hearing health. Methods: an intervention study conducted in the city of Chapecó, SC, Brazil. Eight workers from a refrigeration company and their children participated in the study. The strategies adopted were those proposed by the Dangerous Decibels® program. Results: the Dangerous Decibels® program strategies contributed to the reflection on noise and favored interaction among participants. Workers and their children mutually committed to protecting and preserving hearing by passing on the knowledge gained to other family members, friends, and co-workers. The three basic principles of the Dangerous Decibels® program adopted by the participants were: Move away from noise, turn down the volume and protect the ears. Conclusion: the Dangerous Decibels® program developed in an intergenerational context was well received and accepted by workers and their children. As an educational intervention strategy for hearing health, it proved to be viable, convenient and with adequate content to be used simultaneously in populations of different age groups.
