Learning English and introducing technology to children at a young age is becoming increasingly important in order to meet the demands of an era in which everything is now done in English and is based on technology. To do this, people resources are required who are fluent in two languages: English and technology, both of which are currently unavailable. This is due to a lack of understanding and mastery of technology-based English, which is one of them. The Community Service team of IAI As'adiyah held activities with practical methods related learning English based on macromedia flash based on the previous Community Service program carried out by FTK IAI As'adiyah Sengkang academics, which included training on the use of word and excel. It is envisaged that as a result of this project, PAUD teachers in the Sengkang City area will have more abilities and knowledge in technology-based English education, particularly employing macromedia flash.

This study attempts to give teachers a perspective regarding what problems students face during the process of learning English material by employing the Autonomous Learning. The researcher used Pragmatics as the subject of learning to observe the process of Autonomous Learning during one semester. This is a descriptive qualitative research in which 7 students of English Education of PGRI University were employed as the subjects of this study. Those students are the most active ones in class. After they conducted a series of learning process autonomously, they were expected to fill the questionnaire as the data source to reveal the basic need of the students that they are expecting from the teachers. Then the data would be explained descriptively. It is expected that the teachers are going to have some new perspectives regarding the autonomous learning, which is related to the students’ problems. What they want the teachers to do and what the teachers should provide are two fundamental considerations. This study reveals that the autonomous learning does not mean that the students learn the material fully autonomously. Bigger than that, the students still need the presence of the teachers as the agent of autonomous learning.

This community service program is motivated by a number of incidents that have befallen Indonesian citizens staying abroad. Most of the cases could be attributable to one single factor: the lack of information about the rules and regulations in the foreign country. This lack could have been compensated by requesting for consular assistance from the local KBRI (the Indonesian Embassy) or KJRI (the Indonesian Consul General) as well as getting information from the local citizens. This activity is done to High School Grade 3 students because after graduating from high school they have an opportunity to go abroad, either to continue education, work, or for recreation. By providing legal counseling and English training they will be better prepared if the plan to go the country is done. The method employed in this program was providing counsel to Indonesian citizens on the roles of KBRI and KJRI as well as instruction on useful English expressions that they will need if they are involved in any incidents in another country. This program was effective as the target participants were the twelfth-grade students who might want to go abroad for a number of reasons such as studying, working or going on vacation. It took place in the Tangerang Regency, the province of Banten, where such program had never been provided for the participants. It is suggested that future programs should include simulations and role plays, e.g. talking to immigration officers in a foreign country.

The paper focused on the research of talent cultivation for English major in the universities of China, especially in private universities. It is often criticized that the English major makes no difference from public English or English training. The main problems of English major at present in China Universities are in its personnel cultivating program, and course design. These problems are shown in the paper mainly by case studies, literature research from the authors’ teaching experience. To solve these problems, the traditional English major must make some tentative innovation and improvement. For the personnel cultivating, it must make a balance between specialists and generalists. For the major setup, it should make refinement in different fields and aspects to let the students make a choice according to their own interests and characteristics, so the paper proposed the mechanism of general enrollment and stratified cultivating. For the course design, it is necessary to make a change from “learning English” to “learning in English”. Learning English mainly lies with students. The learning process, especially the skill-based learning, mainly lies in the learners themselves, while the task of the teacher plays the role of mentor and supervisor. Learning in English is the main direction of English teachers’ efforts. It is the main mission of the teachers of English major to teach humanities courses in full English, cultivate students’ critical thinking in teaching, and let students actively participate in classroom interaction. With these changes, the English major can strive to achieve its own development by being unique and new.
