The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of application of organic matter from rice straw (RS) on phosphate and Fe2+ solubility in the acid sulphate soils. The research was conducted in the glass house consisting of the three treatment factors using the completely randomized design with three replication. The first factor was soil condition : continuous application of RS and without application of RS during the last 5 years. The second factor was fresh application of RS ; with application and without application, whereas the third factor was phosphate application consisting 3 rates of SP - 36 fertilizers (0.5; 1,0 and 1.5 of application dossage). The result showed the three factors interaction had a significant influence on soil pH at 2 weeks after planting, whilst interaction between RS application and soil condition had a significant influence on soil pH, available phosphate at 4, 6 and 8 weeks after planting. The interaction between RS application and phosphate fertilizers rate had a significant influence on soil pH 4 weeks after planting, and on available phosphate at 8 weeks after planting. The main effect of RS application was significant on exchangeable Fe and soil pH at all observations periods.

The aim of this research was to investigate the availability and uptake of phosphate with the application of potassium and phosphate fertilizers in brunizem soil.  The experiment was arranged in a factorial completely Randomized Design which tested various levels of KCl (no calium, 0.2 g/5 kg soil and 0.4 g/5 kg soil) and SP-36 (no fosfat, 0.35 g/5 kg soil and 0.70 g/5 kg soil) fertilizers. The result showed a significant effect of potassium fertilizer treatments on soil pH. The best rate of potassium fertilizer was 0.4 g KCl per pot or 160 kg KCl ha-1.  Phosphate fertilizer treatment gave a significant effect on soil pH, available phosphate and phosphate uptake.  The best rate of phosphate fertilization was 0.70 g SP-36 per pot or 240 kg SP-36 ha-1.

The low yield of rice in thick peat can be overcome by provisioning complete nutrients. Various efforts have been made to increase the productivity of Indonesian peatlands, one of which is by adding salted fish waste and cow manure. This research was carried out on a plastic house scale from October 2017 to January 15, 2018, in Pelalawan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau. This research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting of eight treatments, namely L0 = Control, L1 = 1.5 ton.ha-1 of fish waste, L2 = 2.25 ton.ha-1 of fish waste, L3 = 7 tons/ha of cow manure, L4 = 15 ton.ha-1 of cow manure, L5 = 1.5 ton.ha-1 of fish waste + 7 ton.ha-1 of cow manure, L6 = 1.5 ton.ha-1 of fish waste + 15 ton.ha-1 of cow manure, L7 = 2. 25 ton.ha-1 of fish waste + 7 ton.ha-1 of cow manure, and L8 = 2.25 ton.ha-1 of fish waste + 15 ton.ha-1 of cow manure. The results showed that the application of cow manure and salted fish waste could increase soil pH, total NPK, and NPK uptake. The application of 2.25 tons/ha of fish waste and 15 tons/ha of cow manure resulted the best results in soil pH, total NPK, and NPK uptake, therefore it is recommended for the cultivation of lowland rice on peat soil.

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui motilitas dan viabilitas spermatozoa semen hasil sexing kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) dengan metode sedimentasi putih telur menggunakan pengencer yang berbeda. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semen segar kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) berumur 2 tahun dan bobot badan 120 kg dari Balai Besar Inseminasi Buatan (BBIB)  Singosari Malang. Metode penelitian ini yang digunakan adalah penelitian laboratorium dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan terdiri dari semen sexing dengan menggunakan pengencer Andromed lapisan atas dan Andromed lapisan bawah dan Tris Aminomethan Kuning Telur lapisan atas dan Tris Aminomethan Kuning Telur lapisan bawah dengan masing-masing 10 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati adalah motilitas dan viabilitas spermatozoa semen sexing dengan pengencer yang berbeda, proses sexing menggunakan metode sedimentasi putih telur. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Analisis Varian  (ANOVA) apabila perlakuan memberikan perbedaan, maka dilanjutkan dengan Uji BNT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode sedimentasi putih telur dengan pengencer yang berbeda pada kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap motilitas dan viabilitas spermatozoa semen sexing. Motilitas dan viabilitas terbaik terdapat pada pengencer Tris aminomethan kuning telur lapisan atas sebesar 75,65%, 74,41% dan Andromed lapisan atas sebesar 65,4%, 60%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitas spermatozoa semen sexing kambing PE dengan menggunakan pengencer Tris aminomethan memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap motilitas dan viabilitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini maka disarankan agar menggunakan pengencer Tris aminomethan kuning telur sebagai pengencer sexing spermatozoa.   ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the motility and viability of PE sperm sexing with egg white sedimentation method using different diluents. This research method used was laboratory research using a completely randomized design (CRD) treatment PE sexing sperm. The results showed that the quality of PE sperm goat with various diluents showed a significant influence (P<0,01). The variables observed were motility and viability of sperm. The data obtained were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA) with complete randomized design (CRD). Motility and viability at best against Tris aminomethane top layer of egg yolk 65,4% and the top layer of Andromed 75,65%, 74,41%. Based on the results it is suggested that using Tris aminomethane yolk as a diluents sexing sperm. It can be concluded that the quality of sexing sperm goat PE by using tris aminomethane diluent gives the best result on motility and viability.

ABSTRACT The elemental sulfur (S0) application may reduce soil pH, benefiting plants adapted to acid conditions and lessening problems of overliming. Nevertheless, there is no official recommendation for its application. The objective of the study was to quantify the S0 doses required to reduce the pH of soils from Southern Brazil. The experiment was carried out in the laboratory in a factorial scheme (5 × 5), with a completely randomized design and three replicates. The treatments consisted of five soils, and five doses of S0, corresponding to 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200% of the estimated dose need to reach pH 4.0. The applied doses of S0 resulted in reduction of pH and base saturation (V%) and increase of potential acidity (H + Al). These effects, however, were reduced due to the low rate of oxidation of the S0 applied (0.76-3.36%). The soil variables correlated with S0 oxidation were Mg2+ (0.86***), Al3+ (-0.82***), H + Al (-0.89***), V% (0.68***) and aluminum saturation (m%) (-0.87***). In the evaluated soils the oxidation of 50 kg ha-1 of S0 was required to reduce one unit of pH in H2O.

This study was aimed at determining the effect of microparticles steel slag towards P retention, soil acidity in Andisol from Ciater, West Java. The research was conducted in November 2017 until January 2018. The andisol was taken from the PTPN XIII-Ciater Tea Plantation, Subang, while steel slag was obtained from PT. Krakatau Steel Indonesia. The study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 11 treatments and 3 replications so that the total of all treatments was 33 experimental polybags. The treatments given were  500 mesh steel slag and 1.7 µm steel slag. The incubation media were stored in the Soil Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture at UNPAD for 2 months. The observed parameters were P retention analyzed by the Blakemore method and soil pH which was analyzed by the electrometry method. The results show that the steel slag microparticles significantly affected the reduction in P retention and increased pH in Andisols. The best dose for increasing the pH is 7%. Steel slag with a size of 1.7 µm is able to increase the pH from 4.53 to 7.99 after a two-month incubation.PENGARUH PARTIKEL MIKRO TERAK BAJA TERHADAP RETENSI P DAN PH PADA ANDISOLPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian partikel mikro terak baja terhadap retensi P, kemasaman tanah pada Andisol asal Ciater, Jawa Barat. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2017 sampai dengan Januari 2018. Andisol berasal dari Perkebunan Teh PTPN XIII-Ciater, Kabupaten Subang, sedangkan terak baja diperoleh dari PT. Krakatau Steel Indonesia. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari 11 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, sehingga total seluruh perlakuan adalah 33 polibeg percobaan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu kontrol, terak baja ukuran 500 mesh dan terak baja ukuran 1,7 µm. Media inkubasi disimpan di Laboratorium Fisika Tanah Fakultas Pertanian UNPAD dan diinkubasikan selama 2 bulan.Parameter yang diamati adalah Retensi P dianalisis dengan metode Blakemore, dan pH tanah dianalisis dengan metode elektrometri.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian partikel mikro terak baja berpengaruh nyata terhadap penurunan retensi P dan peningkatan pH pada Andisol asal Ciater, Jawa Barat. Sedangkan dosis terbaik dalam meningkatkan pH yakni 7% terak baja dengan ukuran 1,7 µm mampu meningkatkan pH dari 4,53 menjadi 7,99 setelah dua bulan inkubasi.

Improper disposal of human waste is one of the most serious health problems in developing countries due to pollution of the  environment. The use of chemical fertilizers for agriculture increase the plant growth to meet the food security of the world, but also causes environmental problems including lowering of soil pH. On the other hand, anaerobic pasteurization digester systems enable the recovery of nutrients from human faces and urine for the benefit of agriculture, thus helping to preserve soil fertility. Therefore, the present work aims to assess the potential of using ammonium sulphate processed from anaerobic pasteurization digesters latrines  (APDLS) effluent to stabilize soil pH. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with four treatments replicated four times. The treatments were Ammonium sulphate, Compost manure, Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and control. The results showed that soil pH increased significantly (p<0.05) from 4.7 -4.9 before planting to 5.6 - 5.7 after planting. The organic and inorganic fertilizers as well as the interaction between the fertilizer and time did not have significant effect on soil pH (p > 0.05). The Ammonium sulphate recovered from APDLs final effluent could act as effective as a chemical fertilizer without significant reduction in the yield.

This study aims to examine the effect of complete corn waste based on silagefeed on the percentage of non carcasses on local sheep. The study was conducted at theLaboratory of Animal Biology at the University of North Sumatra in May - August2018. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatmentsand 3 replications using sheep with an average initial weight of 11.2 ± 0.4 kg. Thetreatments consisted of four levels of complete silage feed based on corn waste P1(20%), P2 (40%), P3 (60%), and P4 (80%).The parameters observed were: weight,head, foot, skin, tail, trachea and lungs, liver, heart, blood, and digestive tract.Theresults showed that complete feed based corn waste silage did not have a significanteffect (P> 0.05) on the percentage of non-carcass weight such as skin, tail, trachea andlungs, blood and digestive tract, but gave a non-significant effect on the percentage noncarcass weights such as head, feet, heart and liver. The conclusion of complete feedsilage based on corn waste can have a significant influence on the internal non carcass(liver and heart) and external (head and foot) parts of male local sheep. In addition itgives a non significant influence on the non-internal carcass parts (trachea and lungs,blood and digestion) and the external (skin and tail) of male local sheep.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction of bagasse compost and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of green beans. This research uses a factorial completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor of bagasse compost (A) consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 600, 1200, 1800 g / plot. The second factor NPK 16:16:16 (N) consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 16, 24, 32 g / plot. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications so that the total was 48 experimental units. The parameters observed were stem length, flowering age, harvest age, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, pod weight per plot, pod length per pod, number of remaining pods. Data were analyzed statistically and continued with a BNJ follow-up test of a 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of bagasse compost and NPK 16:16:16 significantly affected pod weight per plant, pod weight per plot, number of pods per plant, pod length per pod, and number of remaining pods. The best treatment of bagasse compost at a dose of 1200 g / plot and NPK 16:16:16 24 g / plot (A2N2). The main effect of the bagasse compost was evident in all observational parameters. The best treatment is 1200 g / plot (A2). The main effect of the 16:16:16 NPK dose is evident in all observational parameters. The best treatment dose is 24 g / per plot (N2). This research had been conducted in the greenhouse and the Soil Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University, Padang, West Sumatera. The study was done from March until October 2011.  The aims of this research were to get the effect of compost from jengkol shell on chemical properties of paddy soil and rice yield.  The experiments were conducted in a greenhouse and the experimental units were arranged based on completely randomized design (CRD).  The treatments were application of compost K0 = 0 tons/ha (0 g/pot), K1 = 5 tons/ha (20 g/pot), K2 = 10 tons/ha (40 g/pot), K3 = 20 tons/ha (80 g/pot), K4 = 40 tons/ha (160 g/pot).  The data were compared to the criteria of soil chemical properties and plant data were statistically analysed for the variance.  If the F calculated > F table, the analyses were continued   by using DNMRT at 0.05 level of significance.  The results showed that application of 160 g compost/pot increased soil pH by 21.78%, N-total by 123.07%, organic-C by 65.84%, available P by 93.55%, K exch. by 238.35%, Ca exch. by 133.33%, Mg exch. by 90.00%, CEC by 238.90%, Cu exch. by 54,10%, as well as the yield by 12,68% compared to the treatment without compost application.Keywords : jengkol, nutrients, paddy soil, production

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas semen segar Kambing Kacang pejantan pada penyimpanan suhu 5oC dengan lama simpan yang berbeda menggunakan pengencer dan tanpa pengencer. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Kanjuruhan Malang pada tanggal 6 sampai 11 Februari 2012. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode percobaan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial. Materi penelitian yang digunakan adalah semen segar Kambing Kacang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas spermatozoa Kambing Kacang pada suhu 5oC dengan lama simpan yang berbeda menggunakan pengencer dan tanpa pengencer menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang sangat nyata (P<0.01). Pada pengamatan motilitas dan viabilitas spermatozoa kambing Kacang pada suhu 5oC baik yang menggunakan pengencer maupun tanpa pengencer menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang sangat nyata (P<0.01). Tetapi pada pengamatan abnormalitas tidak menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penggunaan pengencer (P>0.01) serta tidak terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara lama simpan dan penggunaan pengencer terhadap abnormalitas spermatozoa kambing Kacang (P>0.01). Namun terdapat pengaruh yang sangat nyata lama simpan terhadap abnormalitas spermatozoa kambing Kacang pada suhu 5oC baik yang menggunakan pengencer maupun tanpa pengencer (P<0.01). Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu  bahwa penyimpanan semen segar kambing Kacang pada suhu 50C tanpa menggunakan pengencer mempunyai kualitas yang paling baik yaitu mampu bertahan sampai lama simpan ke 42 jam.   Abstract  This research aimed to determine the quality of a fresh semen Kacang goat at 50C temperature the various preservings time within and withouth extender.  This research had been performed in Animal Husbandry Faculty of  Kanjuruhan University Malang since 6 until 11 February 2012. The research method used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial. Research used was fresh semen Kacang goat. The result of the research indicated that spermatozoa quality of Kacang goat at 50C in different preservings time within and without extender showed the significant differentcy (P<0,01). In motility and viability observation spermatozoa of Kacang goat at 50C either with and without extender showed the significant differntcy  (P<0,01). But at the abnormality observation it did not show the influence of the usage extender (P>0,01) and there was no interaction influence between the preserving time and the extender usage forwards the abnormality of Kacang goat spermatozoa (P>0,01). But there was a significant influence of preserving time to wards the abnormality of spermatozoa at 50C temperature either with extender and withoud extender (P<0,01). This research result concludes that the Kacang goat fresh semen preserving without using extender is the best quality that it is able to stay freshly until 42 hours.
