A new species of Muricidae, Chicoreus (Triplex) tangaroai is described from the Samoan Infraprovince. This new taxa is compared with C. (T.) thomasi (Crosse, 1872) and C. (T.) lorenzi Houart, 2009, related species in the Marquesan Molluscan Province.

A new species of Trigonachras from Borneo is described and illustrated. Trigonachras postardanjeisin is endemic to the ultramafic soils of the Tawai Forest Reserve in Sabah, Malaysia (Borneo). It is morphologically close to the widespread Trigonachras acuta but differs by its glabrous inflorescence and infrutescence axes and fruits. The two species also differ by their ecology and distribution. Line drawings are provided for the new taxa, along with discussions of its morphological affinities and preliminary risk of extinction assessment.

A new, probably endemic species, Orobanche mlokosiewiczii (Orobanchaceae) is described from Georgia, in the Greater Caucasus. The species grows near waterfalls, on slopes with thermo-hygrophilous subalpine tall herbaceous vegetation, and is exclusively parasitic of another endemic species: Aconitum cymbulatum. It is a graceful whitish or pale white-yellow plant, characterised by campanulate flowers and usually a very wide open throat of corolla. So far, for the Orobanche parasite on Aconitum (exlusively A. lycoctonum) only one species O. lycoctoni is known—occurring in the Cantabrian Mts. in Spain and in the Alps. A detailed description, diagnosis, illustrations, and comparison with possible related species (O. lycoctoni, O. krylowii, O. inulae, O. flava subsp. cicerbitae) are provided. We also present phylogenetic analysis, and nomenclatural notes about the above species, and a lectotype of O. inulae is designated. Moreover, inside the Orobanche sect. Orobanche, a new combination Orobanche subsect. Curvatae and a new series Orobanche ser. Krylowianae are proposed and their types are designated.

A new species, Festuca greuteri, from the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain) is described. The new taxon is recognised with two patterns of variation with the rank of subspecies: subsp. greuteri, widely distributed throughout the Baetic Mountains (Almería, Granada, Jaén and Málaga provinces, southern Spain), and subsp. camarolensis, located in the westernmost area of distribution, in the Sierra de Camarolos and Sierra del Jobo (Málaga province, southern Spain). This species belongs to Festuca sect. Festuca, and it had been overlooked or misidentified as F. segimonensis and F. longiauriculata, two species that are partially sympatric with it. Herbarium specimens and living plants were analysed, and noteworthy morphological and anatomical differences support their separation. A complete description is presented for the new species, and iconography and identification keys are provided together with information on leaf anatomy, ecology, phenology, and distribution. The new species is compared with the related species occurring in the southeastern Iberian Peninsula, and differential characters are discussed.

Piper picobonitoënse (clade Schilleria), a new endemic species of Piperaceae from Cordillera Nombre de Dios, Honduras, is described and illustrated. Distinguishing characteristics of this species include distichous leaves; lamina lanceolate or narrowly elliptic, slightly falcate, the apex extremely narrow and long-acuminate, base acute to obtuse and equilateral, drying thin-chartaceous; spikes erect, green, free of leaf-base; and triangular floral bracts, W-shaped on upper margin, glabrous. A discussion and an identification key to morphologically related species in Honduras are included. Piper picobonitoënse (clade Schilleria), es descrita e ilustrada como una nueva especie endémica de las Piperáceas de la Cordillera Nombre de Dios, Honduras. Características distintivas de esta especie incluyen hojas dísticas; lámina lanceolada o elíptica angosta, levemente falcada, el ápice extremadamente agudo y largo-acuminado, la base aguda a obtusa e inequilátera, delgado-cartácea al secarse; las espiguillas erectas, verdes, libres de la base de la hoja; brácteas florales triangulares, en forma de W en parte superior de la margen, glabras. Se incluye una discusión y una clave de identificación para las especies morfológicamente relacionadas en Honduras.

A new endemic species of Amaranthus—Amaranthus neei—from Mexico is described, illustrated, and compared to the putatively related species. A. neei is known from the Valley of Mexico (South of Hidalgo, Mexico city, and State of Mexico), Michoacán, Puebla, Veracruz, and Chiapas. The new species is a monoecious herb characterized by its long, pungent, erect or recurvate, bracts and bracteoles, (2–)3–5 minute pistillate sepals or absent, ovate, oblong to linear, apex acute to obtuse, and fruits circumscissile, irregularly dehiscent to indehiscent. Infrageneric circumscription of A. neei is discussed together with its critical taxonomic position within the currently accepted infrageneric classification of Amaranthus.

Extensive botanical explorations focused on the taxonomy and phylogeny of the genus Manihot in the Cerrado biome permitted the finding of three new species restricted to Serra do Tombador in the municipality of Cavalcante, Goiás state, of Brazil. Manihot ebracteata, Manihot purpurea and Manihot tombadorensis, are described and illustrated. Morphological characteristics of the new taxa, relationships with closely related species, as well as comments on ecological aspects and natural distribution for each species, are provided.

A survey of wingless insects belonging to the orders Microcoryphia (=Archaeognatha) and Zygentoma (=Thysanura s. str.) has been performed in subterranean habitats of central Iran. As a result, several new species have been discovered. In this work, three new species are described: a new species of bristletail of the family Machilidae,Haslundiellairanicasp. n., a new silverfish of the family Lepismatidae,Ctenolepismasubterraneumsp. n., and a new Nicoletiidae, Lepidospora (Brinckina) momtazianasp. n.These new taxa are compared with related species in their respective genera and keys for their identification are provided: one for all known species ofHaslundiellaand one for all basal insects of subterranean environments of Iran which includes those previously reported. Moreover, the previously published keys of IranianCtenolepismaand the subgenus Brinckina are modified to include the new species. Three additional species of Lepismatidae are reported in this work:Neoasterolepìsma palmoniiandCtenolepismatargioniiare newly recorded from Iran and both species, together withAcrotelsacollaris, are cited for the first time in the subterranean habitats. This survey progresses the knowledge on the biodiversity of these insects in Iran.

The oribatid mite subgenus Scheloribates (Topobates) Grandjean, 1958, is recorded from the Neotropical region for the first time. A new species of this subgenus is described from the leaf litter collected in Cayo Agua Island, Panama. Scheloribates (Topobates) panamaensis sp. nov. differs from its related species by the very large body size and presence of a strong ventrodistal process on the leg femora II–IV.

Beaucarnea olsonii is described and illustrated from tropical deciduous forests of SW Puebla, Mexico. The new species can be distinguished from other Beaucarnea species by its massively swollen base that abruptly tapers into slender branches, by its conspicuously long stigma, and by its pedicel articulation that occurs at 2/3 of the length of the pedicel below the flower. With this new addition, the total number of endemic species of Beaucarnea for Mexico increases to 10, making this country the greatest center of diversification and endemism for the genus. We also provide a distribution map and a conservation status recommendation for the new species, as well as a key to the Beaucarnea species of southern central Mexico.

Representatives of some poorly known spider species collected in the rainforest litter of the Orchid Island (Taiwan) are illustrated and discussed here. A new species, Brignoliella tao sp. nov. (Fam. Tetrablemmidae), endemic to Orchid Island, is described based on both sexes. The previously unknown female of Theridiosoma triumphale Zhao & Li, 2012 (Fam. Theridiosomatidae), is described for the first time. Zoma taiwanica (Zhang, Zhu & Tso 2006) comb. nov., from the same family, is illustrated and its transfer from the genus Theridiosoma O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1879 to Zoma Saaristo, 1996 is proposed on the basis of morphological characters. Habitus and genitalia of the endemic species Gongylidioides angustus Tu & Li, 2006 (Fam. Linyphiidae) are also illustrated.
