New technologies primarily affect the lives of all people, their habits, needs, desires, but also significantly affect the demands placed on various business sectors. Discussions on the increasingly rapid development of technical-technological solutions that can be applied in the postal sector and logistics have a long history. New technologies in all areas bring a constant change in the relationship between companies and their customers, which significantly affect the quality of work and activities. In the years to come, it will be an increasing challenge for postal operators around the world, as well as for other companies, to achieve substantive communication and understanding of their customers through the application of innovative technologies. Understanding and learning about customer issues is key to offering them services that, with their precise targeting of stakeholders, quality, visibility, efficiency, and, perhaps most importantly, flexibility, will be able to meet needs that change so quickly over time. This will be possible with new technologies and innovative solutions. The paper presents a market research on the potential use of autonomous vehicles and drones in the postal sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The research is based on a survey questionnaire on the use of drones and autonomous vehicles in the postal sector in the segment of shipment delivery.

Autonomous vehicles, as well as many other technological inventions, are at the center of attention because of the rapid revolution in the use of new technologies. Autonomous vehicles have been an area of scientific study and research for a very long time. However, the era when driverless cars move in streets is yet to come. That creates the rational question: Are autonomous vehicles really the future of mobility or are they just another viral utopia that will not come true? Most people do not know what exactly that phenomenon is about, thus not understanding the boundaries and hardships of the adaption of such a venture. To figure out what stops driverless vehicles from becoming our reality, we need to examine factors such as what autonomy really is, in what level can and should we achieve autonomy and how will these vehicles exactly operate. That is why it is considered as important to analyze these issues in this paper, as well as the conclusions that emerge as a result of my participation in the European Student Science Parliament, as well as of discussions and interviews with my classmates. After analyzing all the positions, judgments and discussions, the most important problems regarding the adoption of this invention, along with proposing realistic and effective solutions for each of them, are recorded.

Only recently, smart cities are taking shape, thanks to the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and other similar technologies. Given the high demands placed on advanced technologies such as autonomous driving, cloud data services, and high-precision sensors, smart cities are creating an intelligent transportation environment conducive to the introduction of autonomous vehicles (AVs). In this context, the use of AVs in transportation is also considered a form of transportation innovation. As a result, AVs are considered more favorable to people interested in new technologies because they appear to be technologically superior. Their association with the most up-to-date technology can serve as a symbol for those who wish to demonstrate their interest in new technologies through their appearance. The positive image of technological innovation projected by AVs may influence their acceptance among technology enthusiasts to a significant degree. In this context, this study investigates the effects of perceived advantage, perceived risk, and perceived safety on the intention to use autonomous vehicles. For this purpose, data were collected from vehicle users living in Turkey by survey method. Secondly, factor analyses and regression analyses were performed with the data set obtained from 611 participants. As a result of the analyses, it has been determined that the perceived advantage and perceived security increase the intention to use autonomous vehicles. In contrast, the perceived risk reduces this intention to use. According to these results, recommendations were made to the companies about the level of acceptance of this technology by the users to assess their investments in autonomous vehicles better.

Abstract This article deals with new technologies and methods to optimize the transport and delivery of postal mails. Introduction of this article defines the technologies and procedures that postal operators have started to use. The main part of the article describes specific implemented solutions of several postal operators and their benefits. The last part shows using of EPC standards in a processes chain. The conclusion of the article is devoted to the evaluation of these technologies and their potential in the area of postal sector.

This chapter begins by quoting Professor Wilcox noting that little had changed in schooling over the past 500 years. This chapter provides examples of how the world has changed due to globalisation and e-learning becoming mainstream, the changing needs and aspirations of the current generation of learners and the rapid development of new technologies to assist learning. All of the examples quoted suggest that traditional face-to-face schooling will change. The economic and social survival of nations depends on the quality of education of its people so some form of compulsory schooling will be needed, be it virtual or not.

Less than ten years ago, working in archives and IT sector did not have much in common. The researchers had to come to the reading room in order to study the inventories and documents, and then to make notes by transcribing or photocopying the document itself. Today, the rapid development of technology has enabled everything to be done with just a few clicks; the inventory is reviewed online on the archives’ website, a request for specific documents is sent, and the requested scans arrive at the researchers’ e-mail address. In order to achieve this, it was necessary to digitize a wide variety of archival formats beforehand. The aricle discusses the post-processing methods used by the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and presents all the advantages and disadvantages that have been demonstrated in practice so far.

User-generated content (UGC) refers to online information created and shared by consumers that can influence other users’ purchase decisions. Due to the rapid development of new technologies in business, marketers’ dependency on UGC is rising. This study aims to explain how the interaction quality of UGC affects its credibility as a source and the usefulness of its information, as well as how it influences consumers’ online purchase intention. In addition, we examine the moderating effect of product involvement. We collected data from 272 users of social media in China to conduct empirical research. The SPSS and Amos were used to analyze the data and test the hypotheses. The results reveal that UGC interaction quality is positively related to purchase intention, and this relationship is mediated by perceived usefulness and trust. Further, consumers’ product involvement negatively moderates the effect of perceived usefulness and trust on purchase intention. Findings from this study are expected to extend the literature on UGC and give benefits to marketers and online business operators.

Modern society facing the necessity of dealing with global warming, estimating the consequences of rapid development of new technologies and securing favorable living environment tends to have ambiguous opinion on the results of research conducted by scientists and experts. Scientific achievements of latest centuries have been aimed not only at improving the level of life of the population but at solving political problems by means of developing and spreading nuclear energy and different viruses. For decades reputable scientists have been invited to tele- and radio studios to discuss new efficient vaccines, vitamins, harm and benefits of electro-magnetic emission of mobile phones. A huge flow of information prevents the viewers and listeners of such programmes from being able to define whether reason moves scientists or they are eager to make fortune on advertising which makes common citizens doubt available data and trust scientists less. Meanwhile, academia and other experts in the field realizing the burden of potential consequences are trying to look into the current state of affairs in order to finally improve the quality of scientific research and get across to those whom this research is aimed at. On the basis of analysis of a range of argumentative materials the author outlines changes in major components of understanding trust in science and factors building up the authority of science in the society as well as specifies potential stimulus of strengthening trust in science.

The optimum density and air-voids content of asphalt pavement layers are among the main indicators of the durability of asphalt road pavement. The asphalt pavement with insufficient density is less resistant to traffic loading and the damaging effects caused by water. Air-voids ensure the durability of asphalt pavement and the accumulation of free bitumen during a period of hot weather. At present, the main ways to control the quality of compaction and the content of air-voids is to drill core specimens and test them in the laboratory. This method is expensive, it damages the road surface, and the quality of asphalt pavement is verified only at several points. With the rapid development of new technologies, it is necessary to evaluate and to apply innovative non-destructive methods, allowing us to determine the qualitative characteristics of asphalt pavement across the entire length of the road without causing the damage to the road surface and at lower costs. This article describes the use of Ground Penetrating Radar to determine asphalt pavement density and air-voids content provides an overview of global practices and feasibility analysis on the application of Ground Penetrating Radar on the roads of Lithuanian. Santrauka Asfalto dangos sluoksnių optimalus tankis ir oro tuštymių kiekis yra vieni iš pagrindinių dangos ilgaamžiškumo rodiklių. Nepakankamo tankio danga yra mažiau atspari automobilių eismo apkrovoms ir žalingam vandens poveikiui. Oro tuštymės užtikrina dangos ilgaamžiškumą ir laisvojo bitumo akumuliavimą karštuoju metų laikotarpiu. Šiuo metu pagrindinis būdas kontroliuoti sutankinimą ir oro tuštymių kiekį yra gręžti kernus ir juos bandyti laboratorijoje. Šis metodas yra brangus, gadinama kelio danga ir asfalto dangos kokybė patikrinama tik keliuose taškuose. Sparčiai vystantis technologijoms būtina įvertinti ir taikyti inovatyvius neardančiuosius metodus, leidžiančius kokybinius asfalto dangos rodiklius nustatyti neardant dangos, išilgai viso kelio ir mažesnėmis sąnaudomis. Šiame straipsnyje pateikta georadaro (angl. Ground Penetrating Radar) taikymo asfalto dangai sutankinti ir oro tuštymių kiekiui nustatyti pasaulinės praktikos apžvalga ir panaudojimo Lietuvos automobilių keliuose galimybių analizė.

Today, companies have to face new challanges because of the globalization, new technologies, globalization of markets and increasing competition. In this accelerated world, it is essential that the companies adapt to the market, which is only available through the necessary information. The importance of market research is undoubted. In our study we would like to prove that in case of a beginner company — in this case a confectionery — it is important to perform a market research like for a company in any other segment. To perform it, the qualitative market research methods were used. Our questionnaire examines several aspects in order to provide an indication of the company’s founding.
