We investigate the three-body Coulomb breakup reaction of two-neutron halo nuclei 11 Li , where we adopt the extended three-body model of 11 Li with paying attention to the pairing correlation of the nuclei, and also employ the complex scaling method (CSM) to solve the three-body unbound states of 11 Li . From the results, we cannot find any dipole resonances, at least, having small decay widths. This means that the breakup strength is exhausted by the continuum states. We compare the obtained strength showing the low energy enhancement to the several experimental data.

Breakup reactions provide spectroscopic information on exotic nuclei. Coulomb breakup indirectly measures the astrophysical S factor for radiative-capture reactions. The validity of first-order perturbation theory is limited for extended systems such as halo nuclei. More elaborate reaction models are necessary: semi-classical time-dependent Schrödinger equation, eikonal and dynamical eikonal approximations, continuum-discretized coupled-channel method. Breakup experiments do not provide much information on the structure of a two-cluster halo nucleus but accurate exclusive experiments should be more interesting for three-cluster nuclei.

We investigate the three-body Coulomb breakup of a two-neutron halo nucleus, 6 He . We calculate the breakup cross section and the invariant mass spectra by using the complex-scaled solutions of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation, and discuss the relations between the structures in these observables and the n-n and α-n correlations in 6 He .
