Herein, we examine the impact of cations on the structural, morphological, optical properties and degradation of lead perovskite APbI3 (where A = MA, FA, Cs). Its structure, surface morphology and optical properties have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-Visible spectrometer. The structure of perovskite thin films was found to be in the direction of (110) plane. It is seen from the XRD results that this kind of cation assumes a significant part in stabilising and improving the performance of APbI3 based solar cells. Here, the cesium lead iodide thin films show a smooth and homogenous surface and enormous grain size without pinhole perovskite film. An optical investigation uncovered that the band gap is in a range from 1.4 to 1.8 eV for the different cations. Additionally, in ~60% humidity under dark conditions for two weeks, the structural and optical properties of CsPbI3 films remained good. Furthermore, the efficiency of FTO/TIO2/CSPbI3/Spiro-Ometad/Au solar cells was calculated to be 21.48%.

In this article, an in-depth optical investigation of Zn(Al)O-mixed metal oxide (MMO) film using Zn/Al-layered double hydroxide (LDH) was elucidated through co-precipitation and spin coating techniques. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis revealed the occurrence of a vertically aligned sheet-like structure with a thickness of 60 nm for pristine LDH, which further reduced to 45 nm after calcination at 300 °C. Additionally, pristine LDH showed multiple optical bandgaps of 5.18, 3.6, and 3.2 eV. Moreover, a good agreement of the obtained optical bandgaps was attained between both utilized methods, ultraviolet-visible light (UV-Vis), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. The optical bandgap decreased at higher calcination temperatures, which indicates the active role of the applied post-fabrication process on the optical profile of the deposited MMO film/s. The demonstrated transmittance spectra of the deposited MMO films exhibited a transparency between 85% and 95%; this indicates the usefulness and consistency of the proposed film for transparent conductive oxide (TCO) based optoelectronic applications.

The following paper presents thermodynamic and optical investigations of the natural flame and OH radical chemiluminescence of a hydrogen enriched methane combustion compared to natural gas combustion. The engine under investigation is a port-fueled unscavenged prechamber 4.8 L single cylinder large bore engine. The blends under consideration are 2%V, 5%V,10%V, and 40%V of hydrogen expected to be blended within existing natural gas grids in a short and mid-term timeline in order to store green energy from solar and wind. These fuel blends could be used for stabilization of the energy supply by reconverting the renewable fuel CH4/H2 in combined heat and power plants. As expected, admixture of hydrogen extends the ignition limits of the fuel mixture toward lean ranges up to an air-fuel equivalence ratio of almost 2. No negative effect on combustion is observed up to an admixture of 40%V hydrogen. At 40%V hydrogen, abnormal combustion like backfire occurs at an air-fuel equivalence ratio of 1.5. The higher mixtures exhibit increased nitrogen oxide emissions due to higher combustion chamber temperatures, while methane slip and CO emissions are reduced due to more complete combustion. The optical investigation of the natural flame and OH radical chemiluminescence are in good agreement with the thermodynamic results verifying the more intense combustion of the fuel blends by means of the chemiluminescence intensity. Further, lube oil combustion and a continuing luminescence after the thermodynamic end of combustion are observed.

Background and Aims: Biomolecules' optical and nonlinear optical properties are widely used for different medical diagnoses and applications in biophotonic devices. These properties are essential in studying biological processes in living tissues. Aside from biomolecules' linear optical characteristics, their nonlinear optical characteristics have lately been considered. Materials and Methods: In this paper, the nonlinear optical responses of three biochemical analytes in blood serum, including glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol are examined using the laser-based Z-Scan technique. Hence, different laboratory samples of blood serum with various concentrations of biochemical analytes are taken from patients for this purpose. Results: The normalized transmission curves were taken and analyzed in a closed aperture configuration of the Z-Scan technique and led to evaluating the nonlinear refractive index (n2) as an indicator of nonlinear responses of samples. The results show significant nonlinear optical behaviors of the samples under a strong electrical field of the laser, which leads to the measurement of the nonlinear refractive index (n2) of the samples with an error of less than ̴ 0.5 × 10-8 cm2/w. It is found that the values of nonlinear refractive index (n2) vary proportionally as a function of their concentration in blood serum. Conclusion: The findings of this study imply that the above sample's nonlinear optical response and, probable, those of other biological tissues might be used in medical diagnoses. In addition, the Z-Scan technique might be considered as a complementary method with other conventional diagnostic procedures due to its simplicity and quick experimental approach.

The α-phase waveguides directly produced in one fabrication step only are well known for preserving both the excellent nonlinear properties and the ferroelectric domains orientation of lithium niobate substrates. However, by using the piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM), we present a coherent study on ferroelectric dipoles switching induced by the fabrication process of α-phase waveguides on Z-cut congruent lithium niobate (CLN) substrates. The obtained results show that the proton exchange process induces a spontaneous polarization reversal and a reduction in the piezoelectric coefficient d33. The quantitative assessments of the impact of proton exchange on the piezoelectric coefficient d33 have been quantified for different fabrication parameters. By coupling systematic PFM investigation and optical characterizations of α-phase protonated regions and virgin CLN on ±Z surfaces of the samples, we find a very good agreement between index contrast (optical investigation) and d33 reduction (PFM investigations). We clearly show that the increase in the in-diffused proton concentration (increase in index contrast) in protonated zones decreases the piezoelectric coefficient d33 values. Furthermore, having a high interest in nonlinear performances of photonics devices based on PPLN substrates, we have also investigated how deep the spontaneous polarization reversal induced by proton exchange takes place inside the α-phase channel waveguides.
