Kinesio-taping is widely used in sports rehabilitation for prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries. The role of Kinesio-taping has recently received renewed interest in patients with shoulder problems like shoulder impingement or rotator cuff tendinopathy.This pilot study was undertaken to check the effect of therapeutic kinesio-taping versus placebo kinesio-taping on shoulder pain, acromio-humeral distance (AHD), mobility and disability in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.8 patients diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome were included in the study and they were allocated into the experimental and control group. The patients in experimental group received ultrasound therapy for 8 minutes followed by application of therapeutic kinesio-taping and in control group patients received ultrasound therapy for 8 minutes followed by application of placebo kinesio-taping. Outcome measure were pain intensity by NPRS, shoulder range of motion by goniometry, acromio-humeral distance (AHD) using ultrasonography and functional disability by SPADI assessed at baseline, immediate after taping application and 3 days post intervention. Data analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis H test and p value less than 0.05 consider as significant.Therapeutic kinesio-taping group showed significant change in AHD (p=0.04), pain.(p=0.0001), shoulder range of motion including abduction (p=0.04), internal rotation (p=0.001) and functional disability (0.04), whereas placebo kinesio-taping showed no significant improvement in outcomes. Therapeutic kinesio-taping found to be effective in increasing AHD, range of motion, decreasing pain and functional disability when compare with placebo kinesio-taping. It can be used as adjunct treatment option in patient with shoulder impingement.

Aims and Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of Cryokinetics and Ultrasound therapy in treating supraspinatus tendinitis as measured by Visual analogue Scale (VAS) and 1 RM (Repetition Maximum. A sample of 60 patients with acute supraspinatus tendinitis with an experimental comparative study design. Patients who visited out patient department of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore were included in the study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Both the groups were treated 5 times per week for three weeks. Patients were evaluated with VAS and 1RM on day 1st, 15th day and end of third week. The values are statistically analyzed to determine their effect in reducing pain and improving muscle strength. Results: The two-intervention group showed significant improvement when the pre and post values were analyzed for VAS and 1RM with significant p value (p<0.05). But inter group comparisons showed cryokinetics group to be more effective (p < 0.05) than ultrasound therapy group for all outcome parameters.

Background: Neck pain is a common health problem in the working population. When studied by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), the problems that arise in non-specific neck pain include: neck pain, limited joint motion, and decreased functional ability in carrying out daily activities. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of combination ultrasound therapy (UST) and deep cervical muscle exercise (DCME) versus combination ultrasound therapy (UST) and soft tissue mobilization (STM) on non-specific neck pain. Methods: This research was experimental with a randomized pre-test and post-test control group design, in which the study participants were divided into two groups randomly. The study participants were 20 people who were divided into the control group (n = 10) who were given the combined intervention of UST and DCME while the treatment group (n = 10) were given the combined intervention of UST and STM. Therapeutic evaluation measurement tools include: pain scale in the form of numeric rating scale and neck disability in the form of neck disability index. The research was carried out in the independent physiotherapy practice in Denpasar and Badung. The intervention was given 3 times in 3 weeks. Results: The results showed a decrease in neck pain and disability in each intervention group (p <0.05). However, there were no significant differences when compared between groups. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that the combination of UST and DCME has the same results as the combination of UST and STM in reducing neck pain and disability in non-specific neck pain.

Plantar fascitis is one of the most common cause of heel and foot pain, calcaneal taping technique places the foot in improved biomechanical position by re-positioning the calcaneal alignment closure to neutral and increasing the medial longitudinal arch height, thus reduce stress and pain. Hence this study is proposed to determine the effect of calcaneal taping technique in plantar fascitis. Total of 30 subjects diagnosed with planter fascitis was selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and informed consent were obtained from the subjects involved in the study. Subjects were consecutively allocated to 2 Groups of 15 subjects each by odd and even method. Subjects in Group A (Conventional) was treated with ultrasound along with plantar fascia stretching. Group B (Experimental) was treated with ultrasound along with plantar fascia stretching and calcaneal taping technique. Patients were measured for pain with Numerical Pain Rating scale (NPRS), and functional ability measure with foot and ankle ability measure (FAAM). From statistical analysis made with the quantitative data revealed statistically significant difference between Pretest and posttest values of Group A and Group B. it has been concluded that ultrasound therapy along with plantar fascia stretching and calcaneal taping technique (Group B-Experimental group) was found to be more effective than ultrasound therapy and plantar fascia stretching (Group A-conventional group) reduces pain in the heel and increasing functional ability of the foot.
