Design thinking in the human resources area is still a recent issue little known and exploited even at an international level. It has only recently begun to be worked on and shared by organizations, and it is pointed out as being one of the most important competences of the 21st century. It refers to a style of thinking that combines the senses with the context of a problem, creativity in the creation of new points of view, and solutions and rationality in the analysis and search for solutions to the context. The present research used the Employee Experience DT Model, applied on a multinational company and developed within three long sessions of brainstorming and brainwriting. The main conclusions outlined that DT stimulates the process of continuous improvement, reinforces teamwork, as well as creativity and effort in solving problems. Furthermore, it sensitizes the administration for the current existing problems, compromising it in their resolution, and working in partnership with its stakeholders.

The growing importance of agriculture in the Brazilian economy makes it essential that agricultural companies seek to increase their logistics competitiveness. This study aimed to compare and analyze the impact of seasonality of grain harvest and specific events, such as the 2018 Brazil truck drivers’ strike, on the prices of inbound and outbound freight in a multinational company located in several Brazilian states. It focused on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) routes of the company between 2015 and 2019 in Brazil, and the relationship between time of year and cost of transportation. These data were analyzed in a descriptive level after being treated by statistical analysis. This study showed that the costs of outbound freight suffered greater increases compared to the inbound freight due to the seasonality of grain harvest and the 2018 Brazil truck drivers’ strike.

This article aims to examine and analyze the Effect of Bonus Mechanisms, and Multinationality on Transfer Pricing Decisions in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the IDX for the 2016-2018 period. The population used in this study were 154 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and the sample was taken using a purposive sampling method, namely 25 companies. The data collection technique used in this research is secondary data. Based on the analysis that has been done, the results show that H1 is rejected. This means that the bonus mechanism has no effect on transfer pricing. Bonuses are not a motivator for the board of commissioners to do transfer pricing, because basically the board of commissioners before doing transfer pricing must first consider the risk compared to the bonus. H2 is rejected. That is, multinationality has no effect on transfer pricing. This means that not all multinational companies can reduce their taxes by doing transfer pricing, this is because, if the company has a subsidiary in a part of the country that has high taxes, the multinational company cannot reduce its taxes with this alternative.

This paper examines the relationship between intercultural competencies and performance in “international locals”, defined as employees who, albeit not formally appointed to any international position, are regularly exposed to different types of intercultural interactions. From a sample of 258 employees of a multinational company, we selected a sub-group of 94 international locals, and examined the effect of ethnocentrism (ET), cultural intelligence (CQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ) on their performance, utilizing multiple regression analysis. The results show that the higher levels of CQ and/or EQ, the better the performance of international locals. Evidence also indicates that EQ interacts with CQ, triggering or enhancing the effect on performance. Finally, ET does not have any effect on the performance of international locals. The research implies that EQ and CQ are essential for performance in international business situations, and that international locals, who are continually exposed to regular intercultural interactions, need to focus on developing these two competencies. By assessing and helping international locals to develop higher EQ and CQ, organizations can ensure that they have enthusiastic and perseverant employees, who enjoy intercultural interactions, and can contribute to develop competitive advantages and capabilities.

The flexible workplace can be understood as an organizational innovation that allows flexibility both in the working day and in the physical space of companies. This type of arrangement brings several consequences and directly impacts the business model of companies. The objective of this article was to identify what factors lead a company to adopt a flexible workplace, and also to identify some results of its implementation. To meet this objective, a case study was carried out at Procter & Gamble (P&G) Brazil, a company that has adopted this model for about 5 years. The results showed that the main factor that led to this adoption was the need to adapt the organizational structure to the company's business model, as it is a multinational company. The main results achieved were better assertiveness and speed in making decisions and projects, greater employee satisfaction, greater attraction and retention of talents and reduced operating costs.

PurposeThis study aims to analyze the difficulties observed in the management of three hydroelectric turbine projects developed by a large multinational company in the metal-mechanic segment, identifying those most critical.Design/methodology/approachThrough a bibliographic search, difficulties throughout project management were identified. These difficulties were used as a research protocol to carry out three case studies in a hydroelectric turbine manufacturer. The projects selection aimed to contemplate different characteristics to encompass the diversity of their typologies. Data were analyzed through content analysis technique and the difficulties were ordered via Grey Relational Analysis (GRA).FindingsQualitative data analysis provided specific insights regarding the characteristics of each project. When analyzing the difficulties of hydroelectric turbine projects management via GRA, it is observed that those difficulties most evidenced were related to integration and communication, suppliers management and objectives definition.Originality/valueThe main contribution of this research lies in the sector under analysis.
