Monitoring physical activity, e.g., training load and energy expenditure (EE), is important to optimize the training process in various sports. Especially in team handball, where there is little information about EE in training and competition. The objective of the study was to compare EE in team handball derived from a respiratory gas exchange analysis (spiroergometry) and a local position measurement (LPM) system. Eleven participants completed a validated, team handball game-based performance test and wore a portable spiroergometry system (K5 Cosmed) and an LPM transponder (Catapult ClearSky T6). EE was determined via indirect calorimetry for spiroergometry data and via the metabolic power model for EE for LPM data. EE estimated via the metabolic power model was −66 to −63 ± 12% lower than via indirect calorimetry (p < 0.001, pη2 = 0.97). No correlation was found for the overall test (r = 0.32, p = 0.34), nor for every single heat (r ≤ 0.44, 0.18 ≤ p ≤ 0.99). Therefore, regression analyses predicting spiroergometry data based on LPM data were not feasible. In line with previous studies, the metabolic power model for EE in team handball (including short-distance movements, great accelerations, and non-locomotive actions) is not suitable.

Cavitation affects the performance of water-jet pumps. Cavitation erosion will appear on the surface of the blade under long-duration cavitation conditions. The cavitation evolution under specific working conditions was simulated and analyzed. The erosive power method based on the theory of macroscopic cavitation was used to predict cavitation erosion. The result shows that the head of the water-jet pump calculated using the DCM-SST turbulence model is 12.48 m. The simulation error of the rated head is 3.8%. The cavitation structure of tip leakage vortex was better captured. With the decrease of the net positive suction head, the position where the severe cavitation appears in the impeller domain gradually moves from the tip to the root. The erosion region obtained by the cavitation simulation based on the erosive power method is similar to the practical erosion profile in engineering. As the net positive suction head decreases, the erodible area becomes larger, and the erosion intensity increases.

Abstract In order to solve the problem that the image processing time is too long in the use of the original college education information power method, therefore, the design of the fractional differential equation of higher education information power method was created. According to the information source, a combination of various methods is set to complete the data collection. Compared with the content of fractional differential equation, the fractional differential equation is selected to complete the image information processing, develop the processing process and select the appropriate equipment to complete the image processing, set up the experimental equipment, and select the experimental samples to obtain the experimental results. Compared with the original method, the image processing time of this method is significantly shorter than that of the original method. Therefore, this method is more efficient for image processing and has a more obvious effect on the informatisation of university education.

This study compared the performances of Normal Ratio Method and Distance Power Method as a tool for estimating missing rainfall data. The data utilized are the rainfall data of the three neighboring station of Catarman, Northern Samar, Philippines. These stations are Catbalogan Station (Samar Province), Legazpi (Bicol Province) and Masbate (Masbate Province). The observed daily rainfall data for the Catarman (Northern Samar), Catbalogan, Legazpi, and Masbate were obtained from the Philippine Atmospheric Geographical Astronomical Services Administration. The monthly rainfall were computed for the three (3) neighboring stations (Catbalogan, Legazpi, Masbate). The evaluation used the T-test for correlated samples and the Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient for the monthly rainfall data computed of the three neighboring Station of Catarman, Northern Samar with the three neighboring stations. Based from the results, Normal Ratio Method performs better than Distance Power Method as applied to three neighboring stations.

AbstractNetwork scientists have shown that there is great value in studying pairwise interactions between components in a system. From a linear algebra point of view, this involves defining and evaluating functions of the associated adjacency matrix. Recent work indicates that there are further benefits from accounting directly for higher order interactions, notably through a hypergraph representation where an edge may involve multiple nodes. Building on these ideas, we motivate, define and analyze a class of spectral centrality measures for identifying important nodes and hyperedges in hypergraphs, generalizing existing network science concepts. By exploiting the latest developments in nonlinear Perron−Frobenius theory, we show how the resulting constrained nonlinear eigenvalue problems have unique solutions that can be computed efficiently via a nonlinear power method iteration. We illustrate the measures on realistic data sets.

Pilot power allocation for Internet of Things (IoT) devices in massive multi-input multioutput heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (MIMO-HWSN) is studied in this paper. The interference caused by fractional pilot reusing in adjacent cells had a negative effect on the MIMO-HWSN system performance. Reasonable power allocation for users can effectively weaken the interference. Motivated by the water-filling algorithm, we proposed a suboptimal pilot transmission power method to improve the system capacity. Simulation results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the uplink capacity of the system and explain the influence of different pilot transmission power on the performance of the system, but the complexity of the system almost does not increase.
