Temporal hollowing deformity (THD) is a contour irregularity in the frontotemporal region, which results in facial asymmetry in the frontal view. Here, we present our clinical experience of correction of THD using serratus anterior (SA) muscle and fascia free flaps. Between March 2016 and December 2018, 13 patients presenting with THD were treated with SA free flap. The mean age of the patients was 47.8 years. The patients received craniectomy due to subarachnoid hemorrhage, epidural hematoma, or brain tumor. On average, correction of THD was performed 17 months after cranioplasty. The SA flap size ranged from 5 × 5   cm to 10 × 8   cm . The mean operation time was 107.3 minutes. All of the flaps survived without complications. The mean follow-up duration was 20.3 months. For correction of THD, the SA muscle and fascia flap is among the best candidates to permanently restore aesthetic form and symmetry.

Abstract: In this era of technological advances, text-based music recommendations are much needed as they will help humans relieve stress with soothing music according to their moods. In this project, we have implemented a chatbot that recommends music based on the user's text tone. By analyzing the tone of the text expressed by the user, we can identify the mood. Once the mood is identified, the application will play songs in the form of a web page based on the user's choice as well as his current mood. In our proposed system, themain goal is to reliably determine a user's mood based on their text tone with an application that can be installed on the user's desktop. In today's world, human computer interaction (HCI) plays a crucial role, and the most popular concept in HCI is recognition of emotion from text. As part of this process, the frontal view of the user's text is used to determine the mood. The extraction of text tone from the user's text is anotherimportant aspect. We have used IBM Analyser to check the text tone of the user and to predict the mood based on the text of the user, and Last.FM API to recommend songs based on themood of the user. Objective: To validate the modified Rhinoplasty Assessment Scale (Photographic) (mRASP). Study Design: Retrospective cohort study. Methods: Study design—Photographs for 100 rhinoplasty patients from 2 facial plastic surgeons were compiled. Photos included 6 views. Each facial plastic surgeon reviewed all views. Nasal appearance was evaluated using the mRASP. Statistical analysis—A validation study was conducted, including descriptive statistics, reliability, and construct validity. Mean and standard deviations were used to describe the scores. Results: Eighty female (mean RASP score = 14.89, SD = 7.04) and 20 male (mean RASP score = 19.83, SD = 10.09) patients were included. The mean of the total score on the instrument was 15.88 (SD = 7.98). Cronbach’s alpha was .81, and inter-rater reliability measured as a Pearson product-moment correlation was .74. The CFA model fit the frontal view (χ2 = 32.47 ( P = .04), CFI = .99, TLI = .99, RMSEA = .05, SRMR = .05), basal view (χ2 = 4.55 ( P = .33), CFI = .98, TLI = .96, RMSEA = .03, SRMR = .23), and lateral view (χ2 = 39.52 ( P = .40), CFI = 1.0, TLI = 1.0, RMSEA = .0, SRMR = .05) data well. Conclusion: The mRASP is a reliable instrument that can be used to assess nasal form via frontal, lateral, and basal photographs of patients. This provides facial plastic surgeons with a validated tool to evaluate rhinoplasty outcomes.

Abstract Out of the looting tunnels on Tell Nebi Yunus at Nineveh, which were dug into the ruins of the Late Assyrian military palace by henchmen of the so-called Islamic State, there came, amongst other objects, relief panels featuring anthropomorphic representations. These figures, shown in frontal view, are unusual when compared to the wider repertoire of Assyrian images known from the royal palaces on Kuyunjik. The decoration and context of these stone slabs raise questions regarding their function.

Objective: To compare and evaluate the perception of smile aesthetics by lay-persons and dental specialists. Study Design: Cross-sectional study Place and Duration of Study: Department of Orthodontics, Bacha Khan College of Dentistry/Medical Teaching Institute, Mardan from 1st April 2020 to 31st July 2021. Methodology: Eighty participants were assessed for their smiles through photographical imaging to assess each photographic image of smile (frontal view) and categorized them as very good, good, average or bad. Results: The mean age was 20.59±3.1 years with 59 females and 21 males. The laypeople assessed smile under categories of very good (60%) or good with a least number of people categorizing it average or bad. Contrary to this the dentist perception about smile aesthetic was completely reveres. Conclusion: There is an obvious variance between perception of laypeople and dentists with dentist being more analytical and judgmental. Key words: Incisors, Smile, Aesthetic, Smile arc

Two new species of freshwater crab of the genus Potamid Aparapotamon Dai & Chen, 1985 are described from Yunnan Province, southwest China. Morphological comparisons were made between the two new species and type materials of other 11 species of Aparapotamon. Aparapotamon binchuanensesp. nov. and A. huizeensesp. nov. can be separated from their congeners by the shape of the epibranchial tooth, the frontal view of the cephalothorax, the male first gonopod, and the female vulvae. The molecular analyses based on partial mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene are also included. This study brings the number of Aparapotamon species to 13.

We report a new myxozoan, Myxobolus opsaridiumi sp. nov., infecting the ornamental fish Opsaridium ubangiensis (Pellegrin, 1901) collected from the Anga River near the city of Yaounde, Cameroon. Plasmodia were found in the skin, muscles and spleen. The overall prevalence of infection was 54.7% (288 parasitized fish out of 526 examined). The myxospores were ovoid to subspherical in frontal view and lenticular in lateral view. The valves were symmetrical and relatively thick, without edge markings. The myxospore measurements were 10.7 ± 0.14 (10–11.5) μm long, 9 ± 0.15 (8–10) μm wide and 6.2 ± 0.7 (5.6–7.2) μm thick. The two ovoid polar capsules were equal in size, converging and opening together at the anterior end, measuring 5 ± 0.07 (4.3–6.0) μm long and 2.7 ± 0.07 (2.2–3.0) μm wide. Polar filaments were coiled from 5 to 7 turns. Histopathological analysis revealed no inflammatory reaction associated with the infection. A BLAST search found that the newly obtained 18 rDNA sequence had a low sequence similarity with available sequences for Myxobolus on GenBank. A phylogenetical analysis based on ribosomal DNA partial sequences showed that M. opsaridiumi sp. nov. is closely associated with several species of Myxobolus infecting cyprinid fish.

AbstractFaces can be categorized in various ways, for example as male or female or as belonging to a specific biogeographic ancestry (race). Here we tested the importance of the main facial features for race perception. We exchanged inner facial features (eyes, mouth or nose), face contour (everything but those) or texture (surface information) between Asian and Caucasian faces. Features were exchanged one at a time, creating for each Asian/Caucasian face pair ten facial variations of the original face pair. German and Korean participants performed a race classification task on all faces presented in random order. The results show that eyes and texture are major determinants of perceived biogeographic ancestry for both groups of participants and for both face types. Inserting these features in a face of another race changed its perceived biogeographic ancestry. Contour, nose and mouth, in that order, had decreasing and much weaker influence on race perception for both participant groups. Exchanging those features did not induce a change of perceived biogeographic ancestry. In our study, all manipulated features were imbedded in natural looking faces, which were shown in an off-frontal view. Our findings confirm and extend previous studies investigating the importance of various facial features for race perception.
