In order to solve the problem of existing diagnostic methods for chronic gastritis which are complex and traumatic, a novel noninvasive method for diagnosis of chronic gastric based on e-nose and deep convolutional neural network is proposed. Firstly, in order to collect samples, a respiratory gas sampling device was established and the response curve of respiratory gas is generated. Then, a deep convolutional neural network for the diagnosis of chronic gastritis is proposed to recognize and classify the respiratory gas response curve. The DCNN model attained good results with accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 85.00%, 90.00%, and 80.00%, respectively, for chronic gastric prediction. The proposed method provides a new way for the clinical auxiliary diagnoses of chronic gastric.

Digital holographic (DH) microscopy is a unique noninvasive method to analyze living cells. With DH microscopy, in vitro cell cultures can be imaged in 2D and pseudo-3D and measurements of size and morphology of the cells are provided. Here, a description of a novel methodology utilizing DH microscopy for the analysis of spheroids is presented. A cell culture protocol is introduced and morphological parameters of cell spheroids as measured by DH microscopy are presented. The study confirms the use of DH microscopy for the analysis of cell spheroids. In the future, organoids can be analyzed with DH microscopy, and it can also be used for drug response and cell death analyses.

Inhaled bronchodilators are often given in preterm infants with evolving or established bronchopulmonary dysplasia. However, it is unclear which patients may benefit from it and when it is the best time to start treatment. The forced oscillation technique (FOT) is a noninvasive method for assessing lung mechanics that proved sensitive to airway obstruction reversibility in children and adults. FOT does not need patient cooperation, which is ideal for infants. Bedside tools for applying FOT in infants during spontaneous breathing and different respiratory support modes are becoming available. This case report illustrates for the first time that FOT has potential value in assessing airway obstruction reversibility in preterm infants, informing which infants may manifest a clinical benefit from the treatment with bronchodilators.

AbstractTo evaluate the “flow void” diameter in patients with pregnancy-related diseases with and without uterine AVMs and assess the diagnostic performance of unenhanced MRI for uterine AVMs. From May 2014 to April 2019, 79 patients with pregnancy-related diseases were included, including 36 with and 43 without uterine AVMs confirmed by DSA. On MRI, the diameter of the most prominent “flow void” (hereinafter referred to as fv-D) was measured and compared between patients with and without uterine AVMs. The diagnostic performance of fv-D was estimated with receiver operating characteristic curves. The “flow void” sign was observed in patients with and without uterine AVMs (P > 0.05). The fv-D was significantly larger in patients with uterine AVMs in the myometrium and parametrium than in patients without uterine AVMs (P < 0.0001). The fv-D achieved a reliable diagnostic performance in the myometrium (sensitivity 80.6%, specificity 60.5%, negative predictive value 78.8%, positive predictive value 63%, AUC 0.727, cut-off: > 1.33 mm) and parametrium (sensitivity 97.2%, specificity 67.4%, negative predictive value 96.7%, positive predictive value 71.4%, AUC 0.881, cut-off > 2.6 mm). On MRI, fv-D could diagnose uterine AVMs. The fv-D had a much higher diagnostic efficiency in the parametrium than in the myometrium. The parametrium fv-D greatly improved the diagnostic sensitivity and provides a more accurate, noninvasive method of investigating possible uterine AVMs.

In response to global aging, there have been improvements in healthcare, exercise therapy, health promotion, and other areas. There is a gradually increasing demand for such equipment for health purposes. The main purpose of smart clothing is to monitor the physical health status of the user and analyze the changes in physiological signals of the heart. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the factors that affect the measurement of the heart’s physiological parameters and the users’ comfort while wearing smart clothing as well as to validate the data obtained from smart clothing. This study examined the subjective feelings of users (aged 20–60 years) regarding smart clothing comfort (within 12 h); the median values were comfortable and above (3.4–4.5). The clothing was combined with elastic conductive fiber and spandex to decrease the relative movement of the fiber that acts as a sensor and increase the user’s comfort. Future studies should focus on the optimization of the data obtained using smart clothing. In addition to its use in medical care and post-reconstructive surgery, smart clothing can be used for home care of older adults and infants.
