Abstract Main conclusion SorghumBase provides a community portal that integrates genetic, genomic, and breeding resources for sorghum germplasm improvement. Abstract Public research and development in agriculture rely on proper data and resource sharing within stakeholder communities. For plant breeders, agronomists, molecular biologists, geneticists, and bioinformaticians, centralizing desirable data into a user-friendly hub for crop systems is essential for successful collaborations and breakthroughs in germplasm development. Here, we present the SorghumBase web portal (https://www.sorghumbase.org), a resource for the sorghum research community. SorghumBase hosts a wide range of sorghum genomic information in a modular framework, built with open-source software, to provide a sustainable platform. This initial release of SorghumBase includes: (1) five sorghum reference genome assemblies in a pan-genome browser; (2) genetic variant information for natural diversity panels and ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-induced mutant populations; (3) search interface and integrated views of various data types; (4) links supporting interconnectivity with other repositories including genebank, QTL, and gene expression databases; and (5) a content management system to support access to community news and training materials. SorghumBase offers sorghum investigators improved data collation and access that will facilitate the growth of a robust research community to support genomics-assisted breeding.

AbstractThe World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP) is a comprehensive list of scientifically described plant species, compiled over four decades, from peer-reviewed literature, authoritative scientific databases, herbaria and observations, then reviewed by experts. It is a vital tool to facilitate plant diversity research, conservation and effective management, including sustainable use and equitable sharing of benefits. To maximise utility, such lists should be accessible, explicitly evidence-based, transparent, expert-reviewed, and regularly updated, incorporating new evidence and emerging scientific consensus. WCVP largely meets these criteria, being continuously updated and freely available online. Users can browse, search, or download a user-defined subset of accepted species with corresponding synonyms and bibliographic details, or a date-stamped full dataset. To facilitate appropriate data reuse by individual researchers and global initiatives including Global Biodiversity Information Facility, Catalogue of Life and World Flora Online, we document data collation and review processes, the underlying data structure, and the international data standards and technical validation that ensure data quality and integrity. We also address the questions most frequently received from users.

The art of video film directing is all encompassing as the director deals with virtually all aspects of film production. This comes with herculean challenges that tend to mar the efforts of directors if not properly addressed. Film scholars cum critics have done a lot of work investing the challenges of the Nigerian Video Film industry with little or no effort to directly ascertain the peculiar challenges of each sector of the industry. To this effect, the paper seeks to source from the directors what these challenges have been over the decade in view and as well through the affected, proffer plausible suppositions asmeasure to ameliorate the identified challenges. In doing so, this paper adopts the view point that the director is the author of the film and thus engages the Survey research method wherein Personal interviews are employed as data collation tool and later analyzed with inferences made from the responses. Conclusively, it anchors on the directors’ views of possible ways to improve/enhance the director’s art in future productions.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of capital structure and profitability on cash flow shocks on manufacturing companies listed of indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015 – 2019. The data source used in this research is secondary data. The population in this study is manufacturing companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. Data collation methods in this study used purpose sampling. Data analysis technique uses multiple linier regression and classical assumption test. The result showed that capital structure has no significant negative effect on cash flow shocks with a significance level of 0.741 > 0.05. Profitability has a significant positive effect on cash flow shocks with a significance of 0.001 < 0.05. Keywords : capital structure, profitability, cash flow shocks.

Data, information, knowledge, and wisdom forms a progressive relationship. Information is formed by data collation. Knowledge is filtered, refined, and processed from relevant information. Wisdom is based on knowledge and is accumulated through experience. This paper uses the progressive relationship of service data, information, knowledge, and wisdom to explain the expression of service knowledge graph. It is an increasingly challenging demand to discover trusted Cloud service providers with service data, information, and knowledge. We propose an efficient method of trusted service provider discovery based on service knowledge graphs, called PDG (Provider Discovery based on Graphs), to ensure that each service instance of composite services in Cloud systems is trustworthy. PDG evaluates the outputs of service providers in service classes with the help of additional service information. According to the additional service information, service knowledge is generated and trusted service providers can be found easily. PDG improves the accuracy of processing results by automatically replacing data provided by untrusted service providers with results provided by trusted service providers.

Today, there is an increasing need to understand how to link the management of the surface and subsurface to avoid disasters in many urban areas and/or reduce the likelihood of future risks. There is a need for thorough investigation of subsurface processes. This investigation should entail an analysis of water security, flood risks, and drought hazards in urban areas that may affect long-term sustainability and the ability to recover from disturbance, e.g., a capacity for resilience. In this context, as part of this analysis, potential biophysical and hydro-meteorological hazards need to be studied and subdivided according to geological, hydrogeological, man-made, and climatic origin, and by their characteristic temporal scales and site specific characteristics. The introduction of adaptive design and resilience in urban and suburban planning and management requires a shift towards more organic, adaptive, and flexible design and management strategies. This leads to the use of a complex cross-disciplinary methodology. We consider data collation, modelling, and monitoring designed to fit typical urban situations and complexity. Furthermore, implementation of strategic planning, decision-making to manage the consequences of future infrastructure and constructions are considered. The case studies presented are experiences from different hydrogeological studies performed in Odense, Denmark. Rising population and densification is affecting Odense, and there is risk of raised seawater level, groundwater, and surface-water flooding. The anthropogenic modification of subsurface structures and increased climate changes enhance the risk of hazards and the risk of coinciding impacts.

One of the major hindrances to education access in arid and semi-arid lands is lack of security. In recognition of this challenges, the Kenya government has tried to provide interventions through mobile schools and security services in places like Turkana County. Therefore, the research explored the effectiveness of security interventions on pastoralists’ children's participation in regular and mobile primary schooling in Turkana County, Kenya. The research used both descriptive survey and mixed methods. It relied on a sample of 75 school heads, 225 instructors, 375 learners, 85 parents, 3 education officers (1 from every sub-county), 1 County Director of Education and 1 County Commissioner. For data collation, the research used questionnaires, interview schedules and focus groups. Quantitative data was coded and entered into the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program. To test for effectiveness of security intervention, regression (inferential statistics) was calculated. The analysed data was presented using tables. Qualitative data from interviews and focused groups was analysed and presented thematically. Hypotheses were analysed using regression analysis. Single and multiple regression were calculated to gauge the relative effect of the security interventions on pupils' participation in schooling. The results of the inquiry showed that insecurity around schools in Turkana County was rampant and some schools had suffered attacks. Incidences of insecurity had led to many pupils not attending school thus making many pastoralists pupils not participate in school in the County. Based on these findings, it is evident that insecurity also contributes to constant displacement which makes it difficult for children to pursue educational opportunities. Therefore, it was recommended that all schools should be provided with security officers, including the KPR comprised of the locals who understand the terrain and the people in the security.

In this chapter, the results of a large-scale programme of glass chemical data collation and analysis are presented to argue that glass recycling in the Roman period was far more extensive than has been realized to date. Over 6,000 samples of glass from published analyses since 1999 are interrogated in order to produce a long-term and large-scale data set for recycling evidence. In addition, literary evidence, and data from shipwrecks and other archaeological sites are summarized and considered, and basic modelling is used to suggest the sorts of patterns we should be looking for in compositional data for glass. It is argued that the quantity of Roman glass that was recycled has been underestimated due to several factors, including a lack of consideration of ‘like with like’ mixing, a lack of consideration of the formation processes of the archaeological record, and analytical sampling bias towards colourless vessel glass.

ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the strengths and limits in the daily life of the adherence to rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury and their families. Method: an interpretive study of a qualitative nature, based on Comprehensive and Everyday Life Sociology, involving 21 participants, 12 individuals with spinal cord injury and 9 family members, in a Specialized Rehabilitation Center in southern Brazil. The sources of evidence were individual and collective interviews, adopting the strategy of workshops for data validation. The Atlas.ti software was used for data collation and organization. Data analysis involved the following stages: preliminary analysis, ordering, key links, coding, and categorization. Results: the following categories and subcategories were found: Strengths in the adherence to rehabilitation - welcoming and walking side by side; rehabilitation: a return to life; coexistence that brings the family together, as well as practicing faith. Limits on the adherence to rehabilitation - (d)efficiency of the health professionals in health care. Conclusion: rehabilitation was evidenced as a possibility of returning to life, which enables coexistence among equals and stimulates self-care and adaptation. The family rescues the desire to live, and faith is a mechanism of hope and optimism. It is noteworthy that the welcoming deficit in Primary Health Care and the scarcity of rehabilitation care services in the hospital determine the onset of avoidable complications, in addition to the lack of guidance and/or referrals, characterizing a gap in the Referral and Counter-Referral System.

As a result of the severe natural environment with oxygen deficit in the Antarctic, using conventional manual work to screw and unscrew the drill pipe increases the labor intensity tremendously and causes an efficiency reduction. Therefore, it would be useful to design a clamper inside the drilling shelter, which could help to assemble and disassemble the ice core barrel with screw connection. This paper describes the design of and experiments with the clamper inside the movable drilling shelter. A related testing stand was also designed and built to experiment on relationships between the clamper motor current versus clamping torque and force. Through experimental data collation and calculation analysis, the following conclusions could be drawn: (1) according to the rotary ability of the Ice and Bedrock Electromechanical Drill (IBED) to calculate and determine the torque of clamper, the clamping torque required to provide by the clamper is 100 N·m; (2) finite element simulation and analysis of the non-standard transmission chain showed that the mechanical reliability of the subparts; (3) the experimental results showed the range of the clamping force and clamping torque of the clamper. The clamping force and clamping torque increased with the increase of clamper DC motor current, presenting proportional linear relationships. The clamper can meet the clamping requirements of IBED for screwing, unscrewing, and clamping, which will be greatly helpful when it is tested in the field.
