AbstractThe success of digital platforms can be attributed to the engagement of autonomous complementors as exemplified by e-commerce Content Management System (CMS) platforms such as WordPress and Shopify. Platform owners provide Platform Boundary Resources (PBRs) to stimulate and control complementor engagement. Despite the increasing scholarly interest in digital platform ecosystems, their exact role in facilitating and channeling complementor engagement remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted an embedded case study on CMS platform ecosystems, comprising a total of 24 interviews with platform owners and complementors. We inductively derive five types of complementor engagement and their respective manifestations and two overarching engagement goals of complementors. Moreover, we determine the different types of PBRs utilized, including their critical effects, and distinguish between uniform and individual PBRs reflecting their respective generalizability and scalability. We discuss the findings by introducing the concepts of complementor resourcing and complementor securing and shed light on the standardization-individualization tension of PBRs faced by platform owners.

This case study investigates how a marketing persona may be created with the use of data gathered by cookies and with the use of Google Analytics. The data gathered originates from the largest IT e-learning platform VITA. The basis of our research was measurement in the Google Analytics tool and the WooCommerce plug-in within the WordPress content management system. Our case study shows how a marketing persona may be created and recommends that once such a persona is created it needs to be validated repeatedly with data on real customers before it may be used for marketing purposes.

Entrepreneurship is one of the subjects that must be taken by students of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), including students from Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. Students sometimes have less interest and motivate in taking entrepreneurship courses in practice because they still only use conventional methods. The purpose of this research is to create a web commerce application that will be used by students as an entrepreneurship practices space. The method that used in making this application is the waterfall model with the SLDC method or a simple software life flow approach. Web commerce application that produced then tested using black box to find out the success of the flow that has been designed, and the black box test results show that the application can run well. The result of this research is a dynamic web-based e-commerce application using the PHP programming language, osCommerce Content Management System (CMS), and MySQL database. This application can be a solution to the problems of conventional entrepreneurial methods and can make students who take entrepreneurship courses more interested in entrepreneurship practices.

Biocultural heritage preservation relies on ethnobotanical knowledge and the paleoethnobotanical data used in (re)constructing histories of human-biota interactions. Biocultural heritage, defined as the knowledge and practices of Indigenous and Local peoples and their biological relatives, is often guarded information, meant for specific audiences and withheld from other social circles. As such, these forms of heritage and knowledge must also be included in the ongoing data sovereignty discussions and movement. In this paper we share the process and design decisions behind creating an online database for ethnobotanical knowledge and associated paleoethnobotanical data, using a content management system designed to foreground Indigenous and local perspectives. Our main purpose is to suggest the Mukurtu content management system, originally designed for physical items of cultural importance, be considered as a potential tool for digitizing and ethically circulating biocultural heritage, including paleoethnobotanical resources. With this database, we aim to create access to biocultural heritage and paleoethnobotanical considerations for a variety of audiences while also respecting the protected and sensitive natures of Indigenous and local knowledges.

The recent rapid advancements in web technologies has led to an increase in the development of new devices, applications and methods of interaction that are continually evolving. However, the rate of these technological advancements outpaces those of design. This has also given rise to a new way of understanding how to work and collaborate online. Interestingly, in addition to this understanding came a corresponding increase in the frequency of online collaborations. A good example of this is a content management system. This system gives the ability for multiple users to collaborate online with the goal to maintain and create content for a website. However, during the time of writing this thesis, most content management systems come with limited functionality and not as user-friendly as they could be. As most of these systems are used by non tech-savvy users. This thesis sets to understand social aspects of online collaboration, new design methodology, and to design and develop a user-friendly interface for both front-end and back-end admin area to leverage the online collaboration within an educational setting. Using both iterative and experimental approaches, I have tried and experimented with a few content management systems(CMS) in order to find their strengths and weaknesses. These CMS being Joomla, Drupal, SilverStripe and Wordpress. Then continued to develop a set of prototypes in which the research findings were applied to aid in the usability of both the front-end admin area and the back-end website.
