Security of lives and properties is highly important for enhanced quality living. Smart home automation and its application have received much progress towards convenience, comfort, safety, and home security. With the advances in technology and the Internet of Things (IoT), the home environment has witnessed an improved remote control of appliances, monitoring, and home security over the internet. Several home automation systems have been developed to monitor movements in the home and report to the user. Existing home automation systems detect motion and have surveillance for home security. However, the logical aspect of averting unnecessary or fake notifications is still a major area of challenge. Intelligent response and monitoring make smart home automation efficient. This work presents an intelligent home automation system for controlling home appliances, monitoring environmental factors, and detecting movement in the home and its surroundings. A deep learning model is proposed for motion recognition and classification based on the detected movement patterns. Using a deep learning model, an algorithm is developed to enhance the smart home automation system for intruder detection and forestall the occurrence of false alarms. A human detected by the surveillance camera is classified as an intruder or home occupant based on his walking pattern. The proposed method’s prototype was implemented using an ESP32 camera for surveillance, a PIR motion sensor, an ESP8266 development board, a 5 V four-channel relay module, and a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor. The environmental conditions measured were evaluated using a mathematical model for the response time to effectively show the accuracy of the DHT sensor for weather monitoring and future prediction. An experimental analysis of human motion patterns was performed using the CNN model to evaluate the classification for the detection of humans. The CNN classification model gave an accuracy of 99.8%.

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) is the most recent technology platform. We may regulate our daily routine work, such as home applications, control, and simple communication systems, using IOT, and improve our digital services. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system that intelligently adds everyday content information to the internet in order to facilitate communication between objects and humans, as well as among themselves. In this study, we demonstrate how IoT can improve home automation. The relay, Node MCU, which is a network access component, is used in our suggested system. We can control that equipment using an IoT-based system technique. Mobile phones, computers, and tablets are used as user interfaces in home automation systems. They can connect to the home automation network through a wireless internet connection. The user will interact with the system directly via the control interface, while home appliances will be controlled remotely via a mobile app. An additional aspect of the home automation system is that it may be protected remotely. This redesigned design concept provided a home automation system that could be controlled efficiently. Keywords: IOT, home automation, smart home, relay, response time, Node MCU (ESP8266)

Smart homes can be of great benefit for both, energy and water management which not only helps to save money but can be highly beneficial for the environment. Such smart automation not only offers optimum consumption of these resources but also leads to higher comfort and conveniences for the users and residents. Recent developments in sensing, networking and communication technologies offering new and advanced forms to link a variety of things around us even with the people. Further, integration of internet of things (IoTs) services by embedding intelligence into these sensors and actuators and connecting them smartly are gaining great popularity to enhance the comfort and quality of life. This paper presents a flexible and low-cost home automation system using various sensors to control the commonly used home appliances and devices where IP connectivity is provided to access and manage them remotely. For this purpose, an Android-based app is developed which can be installed on any smartphone in order to monitor and control the devices from any location. The evaluation of the integrated sensors with the devices and switches shows that the system can offer great automation to achieve the idea of smart homes.

Abstract Traditional home automation is inconvenient for aging people. Biometric based personalized smart phone secures smart home automation. Internet of Things (IoT) is envisioned as a promising solution in the thrusting arenas of healthcare, industries, home automation and other domains due to its significant contribution towards connectivity, security, sleek design, low power, low cost and low workforce. This has come a long way industrially and is making an impact in the domestic market after Covid-19 pandemic. Social distancing and contact less solution is the need of the hour. Life style of people has changed from home to workplace such as remote monitoring, collaborative online work-place and online classes. This has increased the economic status of the home automation products manufacturing industry. User Authenticated Smart Home Automation with Healthcare Architecture considers security along with healthcare. This takes into account IoT reusable design concept that uses in-built user specific biometrics in smart phone for secured authentication. IoT based electronics and electrical devices are remotely monitored. The user activity is monitored and archived for future retrieval. An ambient temperature is maintained to make sure that the devices are operated in near ideal circumstances to avoid thermal throttling and this extends the lifetime of the devices. Thermal throttling causes serious threats to the devices and to the human being. In the proposed User Authenticated Smart Home Automation System with Healthcare, smart home is secured using user specific biometric authentication; sanitizer is provided and temperature is measured on entry; thermal throttling due to devices is prevented by maintaining the room temperature thereby providing healthcare.

Abstract: This modern era is about pursuing your passion, people not only focus on work but take up several hobbies to follow, either it be learning a new instrument, hiking, or vlogging your life. Everything must be done within 24 hours of a day. This creates a never-ending demand for technology that could encourage full utilization of time by eliminating the basic and mundane tasks of individuals. Inspired by this stream of thoughts we are developing a system that provides a cost-effective solution to the problem by creating a voice-operated home automation system. This is achieved by using the principles of the Internet of Things integrated with Neural Libraries. We can create an environment in which several appliances can be operated on voice commands, either it be turning on a fan or closing a door all are just one command away. The system utilizes BOLT IoT with a voice flow application to make an economical, scalable, and user-friendly home automation model. Keywords: IoT, Voice recognition, Smart home, BOLT IoT, Integromate.
