Background: Hemochromatosis is a genetic condition of iron overload caused by deficiency of hepcidin. In a previous stage of this study, patients with suspected hemochromatosis had their quality of life (QL) measured. We observed that QL scores differed among genotypic groups of patients. In this reported final phase of the study, the aims were to compare QL scores after a treatment period of approximately 3 years and to analyze a possible association of the serum ferritin values with QL scores. Methods: Sixty-five patients were enrolled in this final phase and divided into group 1 (patients that showed primary iron overload and homozygous genotype for the HFE p.Cys282Tyr mutation) and group 2 (other kinds of genotypes). Short Form 36 (SF-36) was performed and consisted of eight domains with a physical and also a mental component. Results: Both groups had a significant decrease in serum ferritin concentrations: group 1 had a variation from 1844 ± 1313 ng/mL to 281 ± 294 ng/mL, and group 2 had a variation from 1216 ± 631 ng/mL to 236 ± 174 ng/mL. Group 1 had a smaller mean value for these six SF-36 domains compared with group 2, indicating a worse QL. Conclusions: In this final stage, six domains demonstrated a difference among genotypic groups (role emotional and mental health, adding to the four of the initial phase), reassuring the impact of the identified genotype on the QL of hemochromatosis patients. Furthermore, despite that both patient groups demonstrated similar and significant decreases in serum ferritin values, no association was found between the decrease in this biological parameter and the SF-36 domains.

Abstract Background The lack of a consensus definition of neonatal sepsis and a core outcome set (COS) proves a substantial impediment to research that influences policy and practice relevant to key stakeholders, patients and parents. Methods A systematic review of the literature was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. In the included studies, the described outcomes were extracted in accordance with the provisions of the Core Outcome Measures in Effectiveness Trials (COMET) handbook and registered. Results Among 884 abstracts identified, 90 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were included in this review. Only 30 manuscripts explicitly stated the primary and/or secondary outcomes. A total of 88 distinct outcomes were recorded across all 90 studies included. These were then assigned to seven different domains in line with the taxonomy for classification proposed by the COMET initiative. The most frequently reported outcome was survival with 74% (n = 67) of the studies reporting an outcome within this domain. Conclusions This systematic review constitutes one of the initial phases in the protocol for developing a COS in neonatal sepsis. The paucity of standardised outcome reporting in neonatal sepsis hinders comparison and synthesis of data. The final phase will involve a Delphi Survey to generate a COS in neonatal sepsis by consensus recommendation. Impact This systematic review identified a wide variation of outcomes reported among published RCTs on the management of neonatal sepsis. The paucity of standardised outcome reporting hinders comparison and synthesis of data and future meta-analyses with conclusive recommendations on the management of neonatal sepsis are unlikely. The final phase will involve a Delphi Survey to determine a COS by consensus recommendation with input from all relevant stakeholders.

Abstract Background Hypostominae is a subfamily of the family Loricariidae that has a great diversity of species. Accordingly, testicular studies in fish can contribute to the phylogeny and taxonomy of species and to the comparison of reproductive aspects between species. Thus, this work aimed to characterize the testicular morphology and spermatogenesis of the Hypostominae species Baryancistrus xanthellus, Peckoltia oligospila and Hypancistrus zebra. Results B. xanthellus, P. oligospila and H. zebra had an anastomosed tubular type of testis. The germinal epithelium was continuous with unrestricted spermatogonia, and the proliferative, meiotic and spermiogenic phases were defined in all species. In the spermiogenic phase, spermatids were classified as initial, intermediate and final. Only in B. xanthellus in the final phase was there nuclear rotation. The sperm for the three species had a head with an oval shape and a single flagellum composed of the short midpiece, principal piece and end piece. B. xanthellus and P. oligospila showed a cylindrical flagellum and H. zebra showed projections that produced a flattened appearance. Conclusions On the basis testicular structure and ultrastructural characteristics of the germ cells, there was a greater relationship between B. xanthelus and P. oligospila, while H. zebra had particular characteristics. These aspects show that despite belonging to the same subfamily, the species have distinct biological characteristics.

One of the comestibles that have high nutritional value and are easy to obtain is chicken. The higher demand for chicken must be accompanied by an increase in production. It is important for the breeder of broiler chicken to choose high quality Day Old Chick (DOC) from the broiler breeder which also has high quality and productivity. The type of broiler breeder that is grown in PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi is Ross 308. Observations were made when the chickens were 18th to 21st weeks old in 6 henneries totaling about 10,000 chickens. The performance of broiler breeder observed were feed consumption, bodyweight gain, feed conversion ratio, and uniformity. Feed consumption of broiler breeder at 18th to 21st week was 659.4 g/chicken, 700,583 g/chicken, 742,116 g/chicken, 767.2 g/chicken. Bodyweight gain at 18th to 21st week was 143.51 g/chicken, 193.3 g/chicken, 63.43 g/chicken, 167.96 g/chicken. Feed conversion ratio at 18th to 21st week was 4.5, 3.6, 11.6, 4.5. The uniformity at 18th to 21st week was 77%, 81%, 81%, 81%. In conclusion, the value of feed consumption for broiler breeder at PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi was increasing every week. Bodyweight gain at 20th week was lower than 18th, 19th, and 21st week. The value of feed conversion ratio at 20th week was higher than at 18th, 19th, and 21st week. Chicken uniformity value at 18th week was not good it was at 77%, while at the 19th, 20th, and 21st week it was quite good at 81%.

The collection of physiological data from people has been facilitated due to the mass use of cheap wearable devices. Although the accuracy is low compared to specialized healthcare devices, these can be widely applied in other contexts. This study proposes the architecture for a tourist experiences recommender system (TERS) based on the user’s emotional states who wear these devices. The issue lies in detecting emotion from Heart Rate (HR) measurements obtained from these wearables. Unlike most state-of-the-art studies, which have elicited emotions in controlled experiments and with high-accuracy sensors, this research’s challenge consisted of emotion recognition (ER) in the daily life context of users based on the gathering of HR data. Furthermore, an objective was to generate the tourist recommendation considering the emotional state of the device wearer. The method used comprises three main phases: The first was the collection of HR measurements and labeling emotions through mobile applications. The second was emotional detection using deep learning algorithms. The final phase was the design and validation of the TERS-ER. In this way, a dataset of HR measurements labeled with emotions was obtained as results. Among the different algorithms tested for ER, the hybrid model of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks had promising results. Moreover, concerning TERS, Collaborative Filtering (CF) using CNN showed better performance.

The riskiest factor in transforming a traditional Business Environment (BE) into an innovative and business lean oriented BE is the role of the business and (e-)Business Transformation Manager (BTM). The basic profile of such a BTM has not been sufficiently investigated in a holistic and educational manner. The characteristics of a suitable BTM profile is the main goal of the author's selection and training framework (STF) research project; that started in the year 2010. In this research paper, the author tries to prove that the STF research methodology, design and prototype (STF_RMDP) can be applied in a "real world case"; that is in fact the final phase. This final phase is labelled the "STF research empirical model". This whole research is a part of the author's doctorate in business administration. The STF_RMDP results define the optimal BTM profile who has to cope with complex business transformation projects (BTP). These BTPs need a specific set of skills, especially for the final and the very difficult implementation phase (Trad, Kalpic, IMRA, 2013-an award winning paper). The BTP's implementation phase is the major cause of high failure rates. The BTMs' needed hands-on skills; these skills should encompass: 1) knowledge of business process and services (BPs) technologies, 2) automated real-time business environments, 3) project management, 4) knowledge integration, 5) organizational behaviour, 6) management sciences methodologies 7) enterprise application integration and other concrete BTP implementation phase know-how artefacts. Therefore the researcher recommends the technocrats profile (Fahroomand, 2004) as a "base profile" for such BTPs; that need to be complemented with crossfunctional skills (Trad, Kalpic, ITI, 2013). More specifically, this research focuses on the influence of the BTMs' hands-on business architecture experience, background and education, on managing complex BTP implementations. Where such transformations integrate avant-garde innovation, knowledge and technology. “We know that those organizations that are consistently successful at managing innovation-related changes outperform their peers in terms of growth and financial performance” (Tidd, 2006). The author has based his research model on the main fact that only around 12% of business organizations successfully manage innovation-related business transformations initiatives. Therefore, there is an important need for a dynamic and automated way of selecting and training future BTMs. BTMs who would be capable of implementing such complex BP based systems (Tidd, Bessant, 2009). Where STF_RMDP is the empirical model with which the author wants to prove that future BTMs can be selected to successfully build or reengineer various electronic and lean BE (ELBE) components. The empirical model will contain a real world prototype and surveys that will generate the need data sets the qualitative research approach.

Goalball is a collective Paralympic sport with oppositional characteristics but without invasion by the athletes that, despite requiring great physical condition in offensive and defensive actions, is also identified as a tactical sport, where the administration of technique in the various game situations determines success in competition. The objective of the study was to analyze the effectiveness of the attack of the Chilean National Goalball League, according to type of shot and trajectory. Four Goalball matches of the final phase of a national tournament were filmed. For this, a digital camera was used behind an arch located in height. The matches were analyzed following the diagrams proposed by Morato et al. (2016) and Morato (2012). The front throw (FRO) was used the most (88.9%) with an effectiveness rate of 6.2%. Longer trajectories were made in short diagonals (SD) and parallel (PA) (31.3% and 23.2%, respectively). The FRO throw was directed in SD (34.5%) and PA (22.4%), while on the other hand, the spinning throws (SP) were directed preferably in PA (30.4%) and SD (29.1%). The FRO throw was more effective in PA (10.6%), whereas the SP throw was more effective in the middle diagonal (MD) (12.5%). The lateral positions execute throws, preferably FRO, but in defense the central positions are protagonists. Throws are most effective when they are directed in PA and SD.

The emancipation of the South American countries was aimed at achieving the freedom and dignity of the oppressed peoples for three centuries and claiming their rights. In this sense, the article is the result of a study whose objective was to analyze social rights in thought, the work of the Liberator Simón Bolívar and his General Minister José Faustino Sánchez Carrión, as well as their significance over time. Social rights are those that are aligned with human dignity and linked to the achievement of substantial objectives such as access to work, health, education, justice, among others. From the documentary analysis it is observed that these rights were originally consigned in 1824 by the Liberator and his minister at the time of founding the first republican University in the final phase of the emancipation of Peru and South America, but gradually they were legalized in the social constitutionalism of many countries during the twentieth century, which highlights its importance in the line of achieving human dignity. Social rights had as precursors the aforementioned heroes of freedom, defenders of human dignity and visionaries who were ahead of their time.

The prehistorian André Leroi-Gourhan envisages technological behaviour along a continuum of manual activity extending to artistic production. His work on Palaeolithic cave art, which dominates the final phase of his career, builds on parameters set out in the 1950s and 1960s, and indeed early works on figuration ( Bestiaire du bronze chinois (1936) and Documents pour l'art comparé (1943)) already use the methodology which characterizes his Préhistoire de l'art occidental (1965). Nevertheless, there is a qualitative shift in Leroi-Gourhan's post-war work in response to structuralism and in dialogue with his work on human evolution. Le Geste et la Parole (1964–5) represents an important point of mediation, describing the physiological foundations of aesthetic experience and the stages of development which precede figuration. Leroi-Gourhan argues for the normality of Palaeolithic art as an artistic tradition while insisting on its absolute otherness. The mind in the cave is capable of the most abstract and esoteric variations of form and content, but also represents an alternative world to our own.
